In fact every third shop on Campbell Pde seems to at least stock swimwear if not a specialty beach gear shop. Bikini Island has a really good range, with tops and bottoms sold separately- for those of us who don't fit the pre-set size standards imposed by swimwear designers or who like to mix & match. The clearance store stocks some of my favourite swimwear designers (Zimmerman, Tigerlily etc) as well as Bikini Island's own label which is decent and pretty cheap! If you end up at the beach without swimmers it's not going to break your wallet to pop in here and pick up a new costume and they also stock towels, goggles - most things you'd require for a day frolicking on Bondi Beach.

Thank you!!!

With an enviably good position right by the beachside Campbell Parade, this business has been cracking on for over 21 years. Who would have thought selling swimwear by Sydney's most iconic beach would be big business?! It's actually quite modest inside - and be prepared to fight the tourists - but the range is great. They stock Seafolly, Roxy, Watersun, Sunseeker and of course, Speedo. And bikini fans will be happy to know they sell separates, with tops ranging from A to F cups and bottoms from size 8 - 24. Buying swimmers can be a pretty traumatic experience - but with 21 years under their belts, The Big Swim have seen it all - and they're happy to help.

Stocking all shapes and sizes, cuts and styles, you would be hard pressed to not find a bikini you love in here. If you need help, the lady who runs the store knows body shapes and will be happy to put forward her two cents. The bikinis are on the pricier side of the scale but that never stops me from walking out of here with 2 or 3 new bikinis. You can never have too many, right?

I mean, of course they sell a different range of clothes - it's people's second hand clothing, the chances that the people of Bondi have the exact same past wardrobe as the people of Surry Hills, in a similar range of sizes and colours, are extremely slim. Yet, I still think it's a valid point to make, as in comparing the U-Turn Bondi stock to the U-Turn Surry Hills stock, there is a distinctly different theme to the clothing. Whereas the Surry Hills U-Turn Recycled Fashion stocks a range of what's-old-is-new-again vintage dresses and accessories, U-Turn Bondi isn't a vintage shopping experience, but rather is an experience in rifling through your rich friend's clothes that they are getting rid of. The shop is replete with designer dresses discarded after last season, many with original tags still in place. I even came across a dress from this season's range, tag still in place, $100 off what the dress would have sold for only a month or so earlier. Whilst tags are more expensive than at your local Vinnies or Salvos, and whilst I don't feel like the rummaging has already been done for me here, it is worth a look - if just to find an extremely good bargain on this or last seasons dresses that someone has tired of prematurely. Just don't expect to find any sweet vintage purchases here.

I wasn't planning on buying any clothing when I arrived to Bondi Beach ready to do the Coastal Walk, but I came woefully unprepared weather-wise. Blame it on my being in Hawaii for too long and thinking I wouldn't need to be wrapped up to spend a day at the beach. It was incredibly windy that day; great weather to go for a coastal walk, but I knew I'd freeze my arse off in my short-sleeved tee. I had to buy a sweater. I looked around at the numerous clothing stores lining Campbell Parade, and decided that Between the Flags offered the best quality shirts and sweatshirts. If I had to buy a sweatshirt, I wanted to buy one that was stylish and durable enough that I could wear it again on my next trip to a cooler weather destination. I found Between the Flag clothing to be soft and comfortable, something that you would love to wear on a cold day and feel warm and snuggly. The sales associate was helpful and friendly. She told me a bit about the clothing available and gave me time to browse the store. I chose a few items to try on in the dressing rooms. I decided on a grey sweatshirt that had Bondi Beach written in gold on the front. My sweatshirt kept me appropriately warm during my walk along the coast which was particularly cold and windy for a Spring day in Sydney. It also rained later that day so I had no regrets buying that sweatshirt. Some drawbacks are that Between the Flags apparel is pricey and that it has limited sizes. There are other stores that sell cheaper sweatshirts, but I did not think they looked or felt as good as Between the Flags. I am petite and curvy and managed to find some things that fit me. The largest sized piece of clothing goes up to around a US size 12. I recommend Between the Flags if you happen to find yourself in my predicament and need additional clothing before spending the day at the beach or going on the Coastal Walk. It is also a nice place to shop if you are looking for a Bondi Beach shirt as a souvenir that is of high quality and will last a long time. I still have my sweatshirt and hope to get good use out of it for years to come.
