As an over-the-road truck driver, I've seen plenty of Sheetz locations, but I had never come across one that actually accommodates tractor-trailers. I spotted this Sheetz in Petersburg out of the corner of my eye, had to circle back, and decided to give it a try. First impression: it's a cool place--basically a fancy convenience store on steroids. The truck parking was amazing. There's a completely separate area for semis, away from the four-wheelers, divided by a small wooded area. Honestly, the truck lot felt larger than what you see at a lot of traditional truck stops, which was a huge plus. Inside, there's a restaurant where you order from tablets. Unfortunately, the ordering system isn't very intuitive. I ended up placing the same order twice because after completing it, a message popped up telling me to make sure I paid--but it didn't give an option to pay. I finally flagged down an employee, who explained that you have to pay at the main counter where people check out store items. There was nothing that clearly explained that. There were at least eight orders ahead of me, and plenty of visibly annoyed people sitting in the dining area. Because of the kiosk confusion, I walked away with two raspberry lemonades and two orders of curly fries with Voodoo seasoning. My crispy chicken tacos were pretty disappointing--bland and forgettable, even with the taco sauce added. (I keep searching for that Trailer Park Taco experience that I get at Torchy's!) The curly fries were made by two different people, and it showed. One order was loaded with seasoning, while the other barely had any. The raspberry lemonade also had a strange, overly syrupy taste. Once bitten, twice shy. I'd come back for the convenience store side and the excellent truck parking, but I'll probably skip the made-to-order food next time. read more

We spent about an hour in this Sheetz parking lot, waiting out a massive rain storm. I don't usually mind driving in the rain but this was so bad that I didn't feel safe. That was the right move as we spotted two cars in the ditches off the highway after the rain had cleared! So other than that, this was a good stop to run in and use the restroom plus I grabbed a nice cold bottle of water while we waited. The store was clean and well stocked. You can barely get in the small parking lot. People pump gas then leave their vehicle sitting at the pump, blocking the pump from others who want gas, while they go in the store to shop and order food. This is what my wife experienced this morning. This one is a little spicy. "I treated myself to a special coffee this morning on the way to work. I placed my order via the app before leaving my driveway, anticipating that I would arrive and get my coffee piping hot on this 19° morning. I pulled up to the drive-thru speaker as instructed on the app. After 2 minutes of no one welcoming me, I pulled up to the 1st window. I could see a coffee through the window. Was it mine? Perhaps! Finally, my special treat coffee! I waited. And waited. After a few minutes, one associate walked by the window carrying a mop. She tried desperately to avoid eye contact as I waived at her. She disappeared. I then pulled to the 2nd window, and not a person was in sight. I reversed to the 1st window and could see the back of an associate at the counter ahead. I looked at the coffee, the associate, the coffee, the associate...I'm wondering does this window have a sensor? Clearly, she isn't receiving my starring messages, so I decided to honk my horn. She turned, FINALLY! She started walking through to the coffee bar, and just as I thought she wasn't going to see me, she leaned back, recognizing I was there. She opened the window, and I told her I had an app order and that no one greeted me at the speaker, and I had been waiting for someone to come. Then to my surprise, she said, "Oh. I need to put on a headset." Ya, think??? I told her my name and motioned to the coffee sitting in the window as she turned and walked away, returning to discover my coffee I had pointed out. By now I'm thinking, It won't be so hot that I can't drink it but finally my treat... Drats. It barely warm. But now I'm fully invested and don't have any more time to waste, or I'll be late for work, so I drank my barely warm coffee and proceeded to work. As reference I live less than 10 miles from this Sheetz, placed my order on the app @ 7:24am, given a ready by 7:31am, arrived at that time and wasn't served until 7:42am." The store is dirty. Spilled drinks and food everywhere. Floors are sticky. Soda machine out of syrup for several drinks. But you aren't going to find a clean cup with a matching top anyways. Waited exactly 41 mins for an order of French fries! I would have gotten a refund but they were for my daughter and we kept hoping it was almost ready. 20+ orders on the queue. The workers behind the counter aren't even trying to move quickly or get caught up. They don't care that the place is full of people. Just chewing her gum and moving at a snails pace. No acknowledgement whatsoever. read more
