This visit was over before it started.
Understand that my hair reaches my bottom and I refuse to go to big name salons because of how grossly unsanitary they are. (How many heads have those shears, etc been in and how many butts have been in the chair before me since they were last cleaned? Eeeew.) I also have taken a long time to get this length and don't want Susie Scissors fresh from beauty school messing it up. Word passed to me that this place was small, intimate, and the stylist was good, so I figured to check it out.
When I arrived, small and intimate was more like claustrophobic emphasized by the dark interior, multiple open doors, and undeniable heat. I was greeted with a look of disdain by the hair dresser and was told that I would have to " come back tomorrow." Seeing that the single chair was occupied, I agreed to make an appointment for the next afternoon. Seemingly annoyed, she stared at the blank schedule page to begrudgingly agree to a 2pm. Strike 1 for poor attitude.
Before I left, I stepped into the entry to put the appointment in my phone calendar and heard the stylist (now out of sight) snidely tell the person in the chair "Yeah, is THAT how I have to make a living? Ugh." Strike 2 for making it clear I was beneath her and would only be tolerated for my cash.
Later, I realized I had no idea the cost. I called the number on the business card and reached a voicemail. I left a brief message with my inquiry and all info needed. It was over 2 hours before closing so I expected a return call. Still waiting..... Strike 3. You're out. I'm not going to go somewhere I'm not comfortable and welcomed and things aren't that way. She can have her wish and not deal with me.
Maybe this would be a good place for an old, more conservative woman needing her wash and blue, but obviously not for someone showing tattoos and no make up. (I may look "Walmart" but will save to have "Macy's" services.) This place didn't give me a good feeling about it.
Would only recommend this place to women over the age of 65. read more
