I am not sure what the population size is, I am sure I could search for it on the internets, but why. Everyone seemed to be friendly. The roads seemed to all be lined with large trees, the harbor full of boats. Very easy to get around here. I don't know why I haven't ever come here before. That is a mistake I will not be making again!

The downtown area has a number of quirky local eateries and boutiques/shops. The cottage style architecture and shade trees line the main roads in this area and add so much historic, coastal charm. Everywhere I visited the locals were super friendly and it is easy to get around everywhere. Charming place to visit or live.

Walter Anderson painted pictures of animals, landscapes and coastal fauna all around this area. The museum was chartered in 1974 and dedicated in 1991. The main attraction is the immersive mural that covers all four walls of the 300 square foot Ocean Springs Community Center, which Walter "sold" to the city for a dollar. And he never cashed the check. The museum is of course a collection of his artworks and I lucked out today with a fantastic docent who gave me a lot of information about Walter's life and process. Like many artists, there was definitely something going on in his head and that differentness expressed itself as amazing artwork. I know that Yelp won't do the panorama picture of the community center very well, but it's worth the trip to see. I really enjoyed my visit and have a new appreciation for Walter Anderson. There is everything from fine oils to watercolors to pottery to clothing to jewelry (they carry NO mignon faget). There is something for just about everyone here. There was no hard sells and the staff was very knowledgeable about the artists and their art. There is even a space in the back for an artist in residence to paint while visitors watch. No one was painting on the sleepy Thursday morning when I stopped in but the easel and a work in progress were set up.

I don't know if I would describe Walter Anderson's stuff as folk art or funky art, but he was most definitely influenced by this area that I happen to love. It's not what I would describe as fancy pants or highfalutin, but it is most definitely my kind of art. Realizations is chock full of Walter Anderson originals. There are books of prints, postcards, clothing, bookmarks, large scale prints, and everything else you can think of. Pieces range from a few dollars for a card or bookmark to more expensive for some of the lager pieces. On my most recent trip I picked up some bookmarks for myself and to give as a gift (I'm a classy dude). I suspect there will be several more trips in my future as well. You made it this far? Nice! Now get your butt to this shop.

The cost of admission is $15 for adults and will take around 2 hours. They do a guided tour which last for 20 minutes which is a Mary talking about the house 20 minutes straight. For me, my attention span was low that day and everything went in and out of my ear. After that, you get to tour the grounds like the kitchen, guest quarters, etc which I enjoyed the most. The place is pretty big. Make sure when you head back to go to the 2nd floor as there are a lot of artifacts. It was worth my time going however.
