They don't have a computerized system to check people out and then they add a 3% fee if you use a credit card. They should be paying us a fee for waiting 25 minutes to buy two items. This is a small souvenir store with a variety of shells. We had a nice time looking around and I was able to grab a few souvenirs including a Christmas ornament. They do charge a 3% credit card processing fee just as a heads up. The girls working were nice and wrapped our items nicely. read more

Lots of shells bought a sweatshirt , wash them first because I think they had sand fleas because my head was itchy. But I love my sweatshirt from Sanibel Island! People were very nice but the lady opened a bag of Cheetos or something that smelled aweful and made the store smell not so good. Prices were high. read more

I had a pretty odd/disapponing experience here. I stopped in to buy some shells to remember my mom's favorite beach town probably in the world. I noticed a "Made in Vietnam" sticker, so I asked which ones were local. The employee told me to look for yellow tags, but then immediately started complaining to another customer--right in front of me--about people asking that question, saying it was "obvious" from the signage and annoying on their part to have to explain. That they should just have an auto recoding etc etc. I had just come from spreading my mom's ashes and was already feeling emotionally drained, so this caught me off guard. I apologized on my way out for missing the supposed sign (a completely unnecessary apology -- I just wanted to see if she'd recognize how unprofessional it was to make a customer feel that way), and she sighed and said, "it's fine." This is after charging me about $75 for shells from south Asia. On my way out, I checked the door and front signage. there was ZERO messaging on what was local and what wasn't. Overall, the customer service felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I mean you're selling sea shells to people looking to preserve a memory, calm the F down. read more

So many shells... so many. They had so many local shells as well. Their pricing was great. I did make a small purchase and they threw in som local shells for free and gave my son a little gift as well. I spent about 20 min in there choosing the perfect shells to display in my bathroom. They also had other gifts and items to use to find shells. Things like shovels, scoops and buckets. They had items made out of shells too. read more

I love this little shop! They just re-opened in July 2023 after the devastation left from Hurricane Ian a year ago. They have all kinds of collectible shells-to accommodate any budget. I received a gift from a dear friend that didn't exactly suit me. I received a shell box that was imported with various decorative shells in the design all over. Although I truly appreciated their gift I took it back to the store wrapped as I received it, still in their printed gift box exactly 4 days after it was purchased. I asked to return it for a credit so I could select something better suited for living here in Fort Myers, a local piece. The helpful women in the store took my gift box and put it aside for the owner to examine; not 2 hours later I got a call telling me he refused to exchange because I don't have the receipt. I made sure he was aware of the circumstances and a reasonable request for a local customer to exchange a small piece. I got an emphatic no; he didn't even call himself but made that nice woman deliver his bad decision! I'm not going back to pick up the shell box but I am telling everyone to avoid the store "She Sells Sea Shells" on Sanibel. It's not helpful and I felt the owner was selfish and cold. I have to change my review to one star only because of the staff. The woman in the shop today was so rude, insulted my mother and stomped her foot like a child. She kept saying things like, "I can't get a break" and "these people today" I'm sorry we are the customers and spending our money in their shop! She was also yelling at the guy who rang me up about using 2 coupons. He basically ignored her. She also commented that I shouldn't want to use a coupon on something "as cheap as 8 dollars". Besides the staff the store is pretty nice. There are two locations and the one we went to was the smaller version. They have all kinds of souvenirs and shells galore! If you use a coupon that are all over the island you have to use cash. If we go back next year I think we will try the other location for sure and hope that staff is a little nicer. read more

We were very dissatisfied with the treatment of the staff upon our arrival. We felt chastised for not having a mask. A mask was offered but we were told "STOP!"and box shoved towards us before I could reach in my purse for mine. I know the mask issue is sensitive so I am not posting review about a mask, but the man behind the counter was rude. Prices were not marked equally. The same product was priced differently . After asking for clarification(politely) we were told "they are all the same price and we are out of" These were not smaller items (like shells) but bags of shells and craft letters. Again the tone was not necessary. The lady checking me out was quite nice. Most shops honor prices but it was silly for us to be made to feel uncomfortable. Maybe a bad day?? read more

Very cool item and my 75 yr old mother in law was impressed and took a couple of pictures and out of no where the man ran up to her yelling at her to stop taking pictures! Stop to check out the shells. Front lot was full so we parked in the back. We walked in the door and were rudely told "...you have to move, the back lot is for employees only." I thought "hmm, well, you can just go pound sand up your @$$" and we just left. There was no sign indicating employee parking and at least 4 additional open spots. No need to bother with this place when there are plenty others in which to spend money on Sanibel. This is such a fun little shop if you like everything "shell." There were all kinds of loose shells, all in beautiful condition and a lot of collector specimens, like split nautilus shells. There was home decor, jewelry, lamps, sculptures and other decorator items. Of course, there were also the usual local T-shirts, etc. My favorite part of the store was the holiday collection. There were so many really clever tree ornaments made from shells. It was a tough decision, but I finally chose a cute turtle wearing a hat. What I didn't like were seeing some sharks, that had previously been alive and happy, hanging on the wall as home decor. If you're looking for any kind of shell item, this is the place to go. This is a cute little shell shop with a wide variety of sea shells and other touristy items like t-shirts and stuff. We stopped in while visiting Sanibel Island for the day and this was one of the few places open on the Thanksgiving holiday. The best part was the Christmas tree with handmade shell ornaments that were in the shape of different sea critters. Of course we had to pick one up to take home with us to add to our animal ornament collection. Cute but overpriced merchandise. Staff was incredibly and unnecessarily rude. My mother took a picture of one of the items in the store to show to her dad back home. The staff was quick to scold her in a very hateful and humiliating manner. My mother apologized and said she must not have seen a "no photos" sign and the staff's response was "I AM the sign". Unreasonably nasty. We understand why they don't want customers taking photos, as stuff in the store is other people's creations, and my mom doesn't intend to rip anyone off, we just wanted to show family back home. read more

The employees are extremely rude, prices for the same thing are marked differently and you pay for the higher priced item. Where I come from if something is marked wrong you get the price that is on the item. Before you even get in the door you are stopped with a hand in your face telling you that you need a face mask.
