I have to admit, it is really nice. Brand new cardio and weight machines, including a fair few cross trainers and treadmills; beautiful and clean bathrooms with hairdryers, and a high tech security system are just some of the features that Anytime Fitness boasts. We had a chat to one of the personal trainers about the benefits and limitations of joining a 24-hour gym and he managed to convince me that it was a really useful and practical way to get in your exercise if you are strapped for time. One particular example he gave us was about a new mother who woke up every morning at 3am because her baby was crying. Instead of lying around in bed or getting frustrated, she would come to the gym with her daughter and do a workout instead. The other benefit I thought worth mentioning was the security system. People training can wear a sort of necklace with a button that once pushed sends out an emergency call to the police and a private security firm.

The next day however I was in a word of pain, every inch of me ached and groaned- and I thought I was fit! It's been a year of doing bootcamp twice a week for me, and even now- out of 5 sessions, 3 of them cause me to wake up with sore achy muscles. Bootcamp is a fantastic community, I train with Sarge Dave, Corporal Jono and Corporal steph and they are absolutely wonderful people. They know their stuff and are very motivational to be around. Every session at bootcamp is different; I have yet to repeat a single session out of my 100+ sessions. Bootcamp is held at either 6am or 6pm outdoors, rain, hail or shine. Although if it's bucketing down we usually go undercover and continue our workout there. Bootcamp is a community to me, it has been the best investment on my life. I have gained an immense amount of fitness, developed and toned muscles and made some great friends. I definitely recommend bootcamp to anyone looking to get their life back on track.

Class: Strength and tone 1 hour…read more Where: Glen Iris Scout Hall - bodysharp runs group fitness training out of scout halls all over Melbourne and all equipment provided for so just wear comfy clothes, sneakers and water. The hall was a bit stuffy though and fans had to be plugged in. What was it: circuit training, sprints, partner work How many people were there: 6 people, small groups and everyone seemed to know each other. All female and 2 kids sat on the corner as well. Enjoyment level out of 10: 8.5 as I don't love sprinting but good instruction, patient trainer and friendly group of regulars.
