Ask the Community - She Can Do It

I need sone one who can stay with my family member at her home for about 4 -8 weeks. I need sone one who can be there over night into early mornings. Any suggestions?

I would reach out to Cindi Knight with Girl Friday South Pasadena. She has a roster of experienced assistants/gig workers, etc who might fit the bill. Best of luck!

Gabriel is a reliable dog and house sitter. He's really thorough and responsible. He dogsat and house sat for me for two weeks in December. I created a checklist for the house sitting (alarms, codes, trash/recycling/compost pickup) and dog sitting (medicine, walk schedule, feeding schedule) and he would text to follow up and check in. I know he walked her on her schedule because I saw it on my Nest camera every day. He treated Lottie like his own. When I came home, I was surprised to see that my house was cleaner than when I left it! He cleaned up after himself and then some. Really trustworthy guy. He's also affordable and is clear with his pricing. He's my go-to sitter now.

Gabriel was very attentive to the needs of all our cats and kept us informed of the happenings amongst the pride. He would send cute photos of all 4 of them and each of them were comfortable and happy with him throughout his stay. Gabriel even went way above and beyond to ensure that our apartment was in great shape for our return home ! This was not expected (no sitter did this before) but really helped my wife and I in reducing the amount of prep we had to do to get comfortable in our apartment when we got home. If you are looking for a trustworthy, attentive pet sitter, Gabriel is your guy !

The first couple times we used Sitter4Paws we had a really great experience with the sitters that were assigned to our senior, diabetic cat. Last year, my mother unexpectedly passed away, and our regular cat sitter was unavailable for half of the trip home. We booked Sitter4Paws the second half of the trip, and let them know about the circumstances and requested sitters that had seen Jodie before so that we could rest easy during a very difficult time. Of course we know that can't always be accommodated due to scheduling, so for the first visit a new sitter came to see Jodie. On the evening of my mother's passing, we got a text from Sitter4Paws that the sitter felt he may have made a mistake with our cat's insulin dosage. It was revealed to us that instead of giving her her normal 2.25 unit dose, he gave her 22.5 units - ignoring the taped off/labeled syringes, our explicit written instructions in the app, and additional photos/diagrams of what a full syringe should look like. Thank god he realized his mistake, otherwise our cat would have slowly died alone in our apartment - and this would have happened immediately after losing my mom. I understand mistakes can happen, but the fact that a sitter was uncertain with potentially life-threatening medication if administered improperly and didn't even think to reach out to us first was quite shocking. Sitter4Paws took full responsibility, admitted their mistake, said they would take steps to make sure something like this would never happen again, and covered her 4 day ER stay, but it never should have gotten to that point. Again - we did have great sitters who took care of our cat wonderfully - but the uncertainty of who you can get especially with medication involved means that we can no longer recommend this service with confidence.

Be careful about looking at all the good reviews about Diana and look at the few that are bad,…read morebecause while she has alot of good reviews, the bad ones are BAD. This is something I failed to do when I hired Diana last year to walk my dog daily during the week while I was at work. Diana was terrible and I would never recommend her as a dog walker. I also waited a year to post this after I moved from LA, because I was afraid about backlash (based on a previous review that someone left where Diana refused to give back his keys and was a nightmare to deal with). It started when Diana couldn't even get my name right when I called her and left a voicemail and she called me back, I had to remind her to send me daily texts that she arrived to my place to walk my dog (something she assured me she would do and is not my job to remind her to do while I am working), she once showed up an hour late to walk my dog and told me she was running late after she showed up an hour late (? wouldn't be that hard to send me a text at the time she was supposed to walk my dog to let me know she was running late? Make it make sense), was not affectionate at all with my dog when she picked her up to walk her (viewed via doggie camera), started rummaging through my clothing drawers/cabinets and continued to do so after I told her I saw her on my doggie-camera and asked her to politely stop. Unnecessary and inappropriate to rummage through my belongings for no reason. It was the last straw and I fired her. However, after reading through the Yelp reviews after I saw her going through my personal belongings and found the terrible reviews--I was afraid to fire her outright. So I had to come up with a lie to get her to return my keys. Fortunately, it didn't get messy. Based on some old reviews, Diana has claimed to not know people who left her bad reviews, so that might happen here--but I have screenshots of her rummaging through my personal belongings in my dresser. I uploaded photos of proof of her rummaging through my belongings, Venmo transactions, and text messages.

When I returned home early, after 7.30, I notice she had not come to walk my dog, as promised. She gave no explanation for not showing up as she offered and agreed. Then, the nightmare of getting her to return my house keys, started. I texted her the next day: please return my keys. Her response was "will you need me again" "please call me" (for future work). Three days passed and still my keys were not returned. I offered to pick them up from her. I've attached copies of our texts, back and forth. She finally left me a voice mail message that she lost my keys, "I pay for a copy of the key". My entire life was on that key chain; because I wanted her to be able to get inside to my dog in case the front key didn't work (it was newly made). 1 front door key and lock, 2 back door locks and 1 key, 1 gate key and lock, and my work studio key and 2 locks (where my dog likes to hide). I mentioned the actual loss to her, it wasn't simply replacing a copy of a key. She found my keys later that day. It took her over 24 hours to return my keys. You will see the texts in my trying to get my keys and her inability to follow-through. Diana never walked my dog as promised (so she never did the work she was hired to do), put me through hell trying to get my keys returned to me. AND, she cashed my check! All in all, a stressful experience that cost for work not done.
