I was assisted by Eda(maybe Etta) and she was phenomenal! She was so kind, helpful and was able to help me add a sale to my order that didn't calculate correctly in the system. She's was also super efficient and a great multitasker. She was running a register and easy scan. She made sure to address me as soon as I needed help while finishing with another customer at her register. Same when she was assisting me. I don't know if a supermarket necessarily needs a review, but this supermarket is a staple of the Middlebury College community. I feel really at home coming here for some reason. It might be that small town New England feel to it, where everyone in town knows each other, as indicated by the cashiers always so friendly and striking up meaningful small talk with all their customers. Catch us Middlebury College students here often for buying food for when the school doesn't feed us (Thanksgiving 2015 was my first one without family but still only my second most miserable Thanksgiving...) or when their overpriced student stores don't stock what we need (especially fruit). Thank goodness this place is around, it is definitely a supermarket. I always get worried when these small towns try to support local businesses as much as possible, but thankfully this supermarket chain is around. (Local businesses are definitely a good thing though! I know I sound awful, forgive me!) It seems that Middlebury town has what I need for the most part. I have so many memories already with this market. It's closer than Hannaford's, so best bet I'm never going there by foot when I can come here. read more

Bleh. In need of a basic item that consists of an in & out? Sure. Anything else? Forget it. Choices are slim and my god can they provide clean carrying baskets?? I bypass them they're so disgusting, very least provide antibacterial wet-naps. Store is overcrowded, small and seems a bit outdated. No self check outs. read more

I have been shopping at the Shaws middlebury location for years now and I have never seen a better run store with such friendly and willing to lend a hand type atmosphere whenever you shop. A new store director was just brought in and her name is Kim she is really good at keeping moral at a all time high and it's incredible to see the changes she has made(for the better). As for the quick and speedy checkout recently I wanted to thank the front end team( Kameron,Cameron,Shelby) they have recently made my shopping experience a 10/10 they always greet me with a smile and treat me like a friend both Cameron and Kameron have helped me numerous times will a positive attitude and always willing to help when they can even on two separate occasions I have witnessed them both pay for customers groceries when people have fallen on tough times I just wanted to say thank you to them for always making my shopping experience truly amazing and hope you guys keep up the good work and can't wait to see you again. NOT happy .I bought skinless boneless chicken on Monday today is Wednesday was to be good for another 4 days and it is rotten and smells horrible.I called they said to bring in the tag on package for refund, yea big deal it's 5:00 pm there goes dinner.The selection of food is not great either. read more

Shaw's has always been a favorite however extremely disappointed by what was witnessed today! 3 Employees were not wearing masks. Employee # 1 named Josh came from back of store and went to deli section next to where chicken was served and was not wearing a mask the employee behind counter served him and did not ask him to put his mask on. Employee # 2 had her mask pulled down below nose while serving a customer from the salads in the deli cooler. Lastly a customer had her mask pulled down leaning against the deli counter and was chatting within 6 inches with employee # 3, the employee never mentioned she was too close nor wiped the counter down after. This was witnessed at aprox 2:30 on 7/11. Called to speak to manager who said she would look into what was reported. She also mentioned they do not police customers actions as "Shaw's" does not want to create a hostile situation. It appears Shaw's cares more about not creating a hostile situation then they do about the safety and well-being of their customers and employees regarding Covid19. read more
