Terry immediately met with us in person, understood our frustration & developed a plan for our backyard that was within our budget. He included a gorgeous waterfall & pond that will be home to a few goldfish. Also an elevated flagstone patio with a firepit that gives us a gorgeous view we didn't have previously & more. Every step of the way Terry communicated with us what the team planned to accomplish that day. They all worked long hours, efficiently and always cleaned at the end of the day. Did it take a while? Yes it did but that's not unusual for large, custom projects. Terry was also extremely kind and flexible when we made changes along the way. Excellent custom cabinets…read more I just had Alberto (El Capitan) and his son build and install custom cabinets for my house remodel in Solvang. This is a high-end house and I needed truly custom high-end cabinets, but at a reasonable cost. As part of my search, I found a few high-end builders that wanted exorbitant rates to support their showroom and sales overhead as well as low-end builders who didn't want to deal with dovetailed drawers or inset doors. But mostly, I wanted to deal directly with the woodworker/fabricator not some intermediary who would confuse things. Alberto and Beto have been doing this for quite a long time and are quite familiar with high-end installations. In addition to being master cabinet builders, they are also general contractors and finish carpenters. The quality of the work is excellent and they spend the time to install it perfectly--and yes, they kicked me out of the room because I thought they were fussing too much. (I am a finicky retired engineer and reformed woodworker who has built and installed many cabinets myself... so I know quality when I see it.) The price is fair, neither cheap, nor exorbitant... about what you expect for professional work. The aesthetic sense is right on, no need to specify every little detail, Alberto knows what look you are going for and how to make it work. The timing... will take a little longer than you think. El Capitan spends the time to get all the details right, so yes, it will take longer. But most importantly, he will not cut corners. He uses top-of the line hardware and if he thinks the vanity needs 9 drawers, he will get 9 drawers, even though it will cost him more. (And his finisher does an amazing job with lacquer!) The deck fascia, supporting beams and headers, all needed to be repaired or replaced. After several bids from various general contractors, Jean-Claude with RHC gave the most thorough and comprehensive bid. He took the time to explain and break down the process of each scope of work. The 5 scopes of work were then priced separately allowing us to decide according to our budget and needs. Although not the cheapest bid, it was worth getting the job done right. The Ranch Hands Construction crew were competent, prompt, hard working and respectful. Obviously RHC take pride in their work, going the extra mile and paying attention to details. It was refreshing to see camaraderie and teamwork amongst their coworkers. After their initial work, we hired Ranch Hands to reroof a backyard cottage, and rebuild the railings on our front deck. Again, we were very impressed with RHC work. The jobs were all within the original estimate, and the work was completed in a timely manner. We would definitely recommend RCH for most any construction job. It's difficult to find honesty, reliability and quality work. Thank you for the help.

Do not use this company. I paid them to repair the gutters on my house. They left about a ten…read morefoot piece off of the gutters which caused all of the water on the roof to run into the gutter and then down into the seam of the two stories and into my home. My insurance company attempted to get reimbursement from their insurance. I am told they sold the company although the old owners still work there. I am also told they did not have insurance coverage for construction neglect. They are a fairly large company in Santa Barbara but do yourself a favor before hiring them and look up their multiple pages of lawsuits over the years, which are public record.
