I parked the Upper falls and followed the trail along the river to see those falls followed by Middle and Lower Falls, If you start where I did it's downhill first with the uphill on the way back but it's a fairly easy grade. The falls each had their own unique attributes and Middle and Lower falls have swimming access. Really lovely area and not too crowded.

It was a really easy and breeze of a hike. There's a lookout point once you get to the waterfall and there's also stairs if you prefer to get a closer view of the waterfall. All in all, this hike is about 3.2 miles round trip and there's plenty of snow to walk & see right now.

I stopped by Lake Siskiyou twice during my recent trip to the Mt Shasta area. The second visit was to hike the trail along the lake. For the beach time, it was a week day and it too crowded. I was able to snag a bench near the resort's public beach and enjoy the iconic views of Mt Shasta. As for the lakeside trail, it goes all the way around and is approximately 7 miles. I was short on time, so did a 3 mile out and back. Along the way, there are forested paths, Mt Shasta views and meadows to enjoy. The trail wasn't well signed and I lost it at some points. Since I was only doing a small section of it, I just followed the lakeshore best I could on my out and back. Early morning, it was a peaceful place. I'd love to come back and see about kayaking the lake or doing the entire trail. Lovely spot and a nice way to unwind near Shasta

Sisson Meadow is wonderful little park right near downtown Mt Shasta. It's free to enter and a very…read moreeasy stroll. Most of it is on a raised boardwalk through the meadow that gives you sweeping views of the mountain. In June there were still some wildflowers as well as some of the biggest dandelions I've ever seen. After driving up to the area and being in the car all day, this was a great way to stretch my legs and get my first glimpse of the mountains. Scenic stroll with some benches to relax on and admire the views. You won't need to spend a lot of time here or plan your day around it, but it's a worthwhile stop.

They even rinse out their jug first using the spring water to clean out the residual contaminents. We were wary at first, but then we filled up our water bottles as well. I'll be honest -- I think there is a charged energy to the water and space here. When we left, we felt lighter and recharged. I probably wouldn't bring kids here because there are suspicious individuals and people smoking. I had some interesting conversations with the local hippies.

The old ski bowl trail head and Avalanche gulch trail head are where the trail will lead you. We went towards the old ski bowl. Round trip took us four hours. Around this time in the middle of June it was definitely a challenge because of the trails partially covered in snow. It was such a beautiful experience. Also there is free parking at the bottom and two clean outdoor restrooms available. It is definitely worth the time and effort.

I rated 4 stars because this is definitely a passion project and you really have to be on your A-game if you book with these guides. The guides are professionals and they expect you to be just as prepared as they are -- especially on a physical level. If you can't stay on their pace due to timing, expect not to summit. I cannot emphasize this enough. DO NOT TAKE THE TRAINING EXPECTATIONS LIGHTLY. Coming from someone who did not train as vigorously as I had originally planned, I did not make it very far on my own accord. Secondly, make sure you are aware of every element of the trip. I booked for the summer and expected there to be snow. Snow = cold, but I did not brace myself for the extreme heat conditions at the base of the mountain and start of the ascent. We had a late start at around 11 AM, so you will not be starting early if that's what your expectations were. Most people I talked to in the lot started at 1:30 AM to beat the heat. Drink the required amount of water before your trip so you stay hydrated. If you feel thirsty at the start, you're already behind on hydration. While I did not summit, I have been inspired to definitely try this again when I'm more prepared. Thank you to my guides! You guys were amazing!

I've been coming here with my family for 15 years and spend a lot of money every year in multiple…read morestays. The last few years it just hasn't been the same. Poor security multiple fights, violent public intoxication, and overly roudy campsites, that necessitated a heavy sheriff's presence. This year has been the worst experience ever. They don't have enough staff for safety, maintenance, cleaning, the store, or the registration/reservation desk. I spoke with Julie, the manager. She said they have been having a lot of trouble keeping people employed during this crazy time. Paired with that, the whole park is at MAXIMUM CAPACITY. I completely understand keeping staff right now is beyond their control but why would they continue to book out the ENTIRE park!! They are increasing their profit margins at my expense and awful experience. I'm the one paying the same price I always do for a dirty, unsafe for families, subpar tent and cabin maintenance. We made the best of it by exploring McCloud, and parts of the lake outside of the park. Basically stayed away except to sleep. Please see attached pics.  The toilet was like this going on 3 days. Garbage going on 2 days. Stopped overflowing because there was no more soap or paper towels. Bloody feminine products hanging out of the receptacle. Fire pit upon arrival. (I asked nicely upon online reservation to have trash and fire pit clean upon check in because it was my experience during 5 night cabin stay 4 week prior)
