Carts are dirty and you have to clean them yourself. And yet, they charge as much as Austin prices. Today, it was wet and rainy and there were no players out. The attendant said practically everyone had cancelled. And yet, he said that they charge a $13 cart fee *per person* whether you play or not. I understand getting charged when I play, but I was just riding today. There was no one else on the course. The carts and course were soaking wet. And they charged me $13 to simply ride around - in addition to the $13 for my boyfriend for driving. What's more despicable is that I've been here before seeing two men check out and not get charged a fee. They were buddy-buddy with the attendant and didn't have to pay $13 each. It's blatant sexism and frankly a violation of federal law. For an upscale country club, I have no problem paying a rider fee. But for this rundown, low quality course that discriminates against women, it's unacceptable.

It's been several years since I've golfed here so the changes were quite noticeable. The areas I refer to as moguls, surrounding the fairways, are now matted down dormant/dead grass, which will soon be nothing but dirt if they don't do something to resolve the problem. Most of the once abundant sand traps are no longer tended to and becoming grass filled , changing how the course plays considerably. Overall the course looks a mess compared to what it once was. Even the power carts were unwashed and poorly kept. We had problems with ours powering off, even while on the cart path between holes four times and had to turn it Off and On, reversing directions in order to proceed to the next tee. Evidently the GPS system is out of calibration and thought we were entering a protected waste area of sorts and shut down. I informed a worker in the cart return area upon the completion of our round, but he seemed disinterested and I doubt anything was done to correct the problem. Also notable was how many new homes have been built around the course, some with small swimming/plunge pools. Seems there is enough water to build new homes and supply households with water but not maintain what once was a great course. That type of shortsighted planning seems pretty common down here in the Valley. I doubt we will be back to play anytime soon as there are much nicer tracks down here that are better maintained. That's a shame.

The greens are nicely mowed. Fairways and tee boxes are mostly dirt with a few weeds here and there. Woe to you if you golf there and not a resident of Mission West RV park. You are considered an outsider by the regulars and often treated with disdain and a certain amount of hostility, especially if you are disabled and must use a cart to navigate the course. Many elitist park resident golfers regularly use a cart on the course, but they're park residents. All course maintenance is done strictly by volunteers from the park and they will surely let you know if you cross an imaginary, often changing line of their own making, loudly criticizing you in front of everyone. Too many angry and crabby park residents to relax and enjoy a round. I recommend you find a more congenial course in the area.

The staff (maybe not all of them) eat and breathe golf They do have a launch monitor for you to try out a few clubs but I encourage you to do your homework and have a consistent swing so you can get consistent results to compare. Ten bad swings and one good swing will take several hours to get an actual good idea of what your actual spin rate, actual launch trajectory, side spin, swing speed, and ball speed are. The prices are the same as any other golf shop because they price match to other stores (try it out). I have been shopping here since 1998 when I first started playing golf competitively and the staff has always been helpful and supportive. Give them a try!
