Poor customer service. Didn't fix the problem.
30/10/15 Fridge not running properly (not getting cold enough). Sharpe tech came out and after inspection stated thermostat playing up. Said he had fixed it but could not say how long it would last and would need to eventually replace it. After 24 hours (time allowed for temperature to correct itself) nothing changed. Paid $165 for repair which didn't even give us one day ! Rang company to advise repairs didn't work. Sharpe advised only solution was to order new thermostat. Although Fridge over 10 yrs old, it originally cost $3,800 so we thought about it.
Decided to go ahead with new thermostat and spoke to Sharpe 9/11/15 to arrange.
By 30/11/15 - three weeks later - hadn't heard anything - rang Sharpe who advised part on backorder. This was the first we knew of any backorder.
By 3/12/15 hadn't heard anything - rang Sharpe to find out how long for part and told 15/12/15.
On 14/12/15 rang to check fridge would be fixed on or around 15/12/15 as previously advised. Sharpe advised part not arrived and couldn't say when. Asked them to follow up and let us know. Girl said she couldn't do that (?) so I said I would ring them, again.
On 16/12/15 hadn't heard anything - rang again (getting annoyed now). Part still not arrived. Asked them to ring supplier and find out what's going on. Told us 'would try' but supplier might not answer. Asked guy why their supplier wouldn't answer ? Basically, fobbed off.
Nine days out from Christmas and fridge still not working properly. Rang a local appliance spare parts company to see if I could source part myself. Although helpful, this company could not confidently assist without their tech guy inspecting - for another $132. Also stated, on description of problem, doubted it was even the thermostat at fault.
Having no confidence in Sharpe any further, decided to get a new fridge.
On 14/1/16 Sharpe rang - new part arrived. Said had been trying to contact us since 5/1/16 and was about to email us instead. Considering the inconvenience of not having a working fridge, the length of time we had been waiting and numerous calls made by us, why wasn't an email sent straight away if supposed phone contact was unsuccessful ? Told girl no messages in message bank - phone shows no record of any calls from Sharpe since 5/1/16. Girl argued and said they told us part was coming from America and would arrive 15/12/15 at earliest - rubbish - we were never told 15/12 'at the earliest' or part coming from America. If we knew this we wouldn't have proceeded. Told them forget it. Been waiting now from 9/11/15 until 14/1/16 ! No sign of an apology. Girl asked if they could collect our old fridge - no doubt to try and fix it and flog it off. Told her old fridge already disposed of and that they have been useless to deal with, and hung up.
NB: after first visit this company offered us a $40 movie voucher (bribe) if we would give them a good review. It appears their call out fee is inflated to cover this cost as the other appliance people I contacted later were only going to charge $132, so you're paying for the 'free' voucher anyway. In light of this, you would have to question other favourable reviews listed elsewhere for this business. It would be better to provide some level of customer service in order to get a good review ! read more
