They are not an amusement park, but they provide monthly free rides on their track around the park. (they ask for donations, if you can afford a few bucks, they are non-profit organization, and all the money donated goes for track maintenance). They add great value to the park, and the city of Chula Vista is lucky to have them here. Their brochure says "Public rides second full weekend of each month, September-labor day weekend, from noon till 2-30pm. They, also, organize private rides for birthday parties. We went there last month, and today. (Will come again and be reserving a train birthday party in November for my kid). A bunch of friendly people of all ages, smiling, answering questions about their 1:8 scale trains and their club. It was very nice to see young club members helping at the station to load and unload the passengers. There are steam , gas and electric engines of different types. Some members made their own steam locomotives from scratch, using original plans! Wow!

Kids were asking him when the next train ride was & a dad ask too, he ignored it took off then half way on his solo ride he picked up some people that were not in line & he knew & ignored the line waiting for him. Ok cool what ever, he went around 3 times with them he made eye contact with us all 3 times. At these times he could of told us that was the final ride but never did. So we waited bout 30 min, why 30 min? Well the train is slow & he dropped them off before the line then talked to them for about 10 min hugged them then took his sweet time to get on then he drove by us only to tell us "That's it folks", his ass made us wait bout 30 min saw us 3 times & never told us the people he picked up that were not in the line was his final ride! That was a punk move & me & another dad were mad. Very unprofessional & rude he was lucky the other dad didn't chase him down & confront him because he wanted too but I told him it ain't worth it (that guy should thank me the angry dad was big) & he saw the kids & checked himself. That lost, slow worker needs to learn how to communicate & be better at his job. 3 times he went by us knowing it was the last ride (to his friends he knew & were not in line) & never said anything bout being the last ride & took his time after he dropped them off to come & just drive by us to say "That's all folks". Many kids waiting were upset waiting for 30 min, all this lost worker had to do was tell us "Last ride" when he picked them up & drove by us! Hellen Keller can communicate better then this guy. The only good thing is I saved the $5 I was gonna donate. Next time homie you see people in line & you know your on your last ride tell them don't make them wait as you make 3 turns by them, the train is slow enough to tell us you ain't on a jet bro you on a slow very slow train. I won't be going back I rather have Stevie Wonder drive me on a train then go there.

I absolutely love the University Club. It is a private club and I am not a member, so I am really…read moreexcited when I get the chance to go. For several years, my husband's company had their annual award banquet there. It would always start out before sunset so that we had great views. Each side of the room offers a view of downtown and beyond. Then they would have a very professional staff passing appetizers and serving cocktails, and then a fancy dinner. Another time, my husband surprised me with a show at Symphony Hall downstairs, that included drinks and desserts at the University Club upstairs. It was beautiful and indulgent. More recently, a friend had given us tickets to Sunset Sips, a monthly themed-tasting. It was Spanish-themed when we went. They had vendors set up with various Spanish wines and liquors. They even included a couple of small appetizers to set off the them. A little over a week ago, a friend invited me to a San Diego Magazine party. It was a bit less "all inclusive" as the first cocktail was included, but after that it was a cash bar. They had some passed appetizers and a cold appetizer buffet. It was beautiful as always, had a DJ and some cute games, as well as a raffle. We were able to take a few photos before sunset. I cannot comment on the University Club membership, or any of the regular dining, as I have always come for a special event in the private event room. I hope I get invited back there soon!

The renovation is lovely and you can't beat the view. They offer valet parking but there was plenty of street parking (for a small fee as the meters ended shortly after I arrived). The lobby is big and wood paneled with seating. There are people there to direct you to your destination as well. The elevators offer the floor number choices on the outside so make sure you pick the right one. When you reach the top level and walk out of the elevator you walk into the restaurant. The sun was setting and it was dimly lit. The views were gorgeous. Our event was in a separate event space. Again the views were stunning. We checked in and ventured to get a cocktail. We chose their French 75 special. While in line we were offered an ahi poke sample. It was very fresh and flavorful. There was a DJ playing a mix of music in the background. The tables had various games and puzzles on them which was a fun addition. We admired the views from different angles. There was a good sized charcuterie table in the middle. I grabbed a small plate of a variety of items. We stood at one of their stand up tables and nibbled whilst we chatted with other guests. It was a very eclectic crowd of varying ages. We spoke to Reny (director of membership) at the membership table and she told us about all the membership options. I learned a lot and looking at the upcoming calendar they host some great sounding events. They really have a lot to offer. I look forward to returning in the future.
