They definitely have some issues to work on... TRUST IS EARNED, NOT GIVEN We took our Suburban in to be looked at for a number of things. Wayne called me later that day and gave me the list of items they want to replace, totaling around $2000. That was all fine except that one of the items was the front shocks. Those shocks were no more than 3 months old and had maybe 5k miles on them. I told them the shocks were new and them telling me they needed to be replaced made me question the validity of everything they're telling me needs to be done. I also told him that I may want to get a second opinion. Not once was I rude, I didn't curse, and I didn't yell. Wayne said he was going to go look into that and look for himself and would get back to me. I said that sounded good and expected to hear back from them soon. The next day they called and talked to my wife. They re-affirmed that the shocks were compressing more than they should and I might want to contact the manufacturer to see if they could be warrantied. Fine, that makes sense, I figured I'd do that after they finished all of their work. I called them back the next day and told Wayne to go ahead with all of the work except for the shocks (about $1400 worth). He responded by telling me they've decided not to do any of the work because I don't trust them. He continued to make excuses about why he didn't have all of the info when we first talked on day 1, etc etc. Trust is EARNED, not GIVEN. They further explained what they found with the shocks, I accepted it, and we moved on. THEY didn't though. At the end of the day, I expressed concern that what they were telling me needed to be done may not be valid due to the fact that they wanted to replace 3 month old shocks. They further explained the issue with the shocks, I said that's totally fine, lets do everything else and I'll take a look at the shocks myself, only to have them respond 2 days later saying they've decided not to do the work since we don't trust them. I called back and asked for the owner to call me (I believe it's Brent) and as of now, I have not heard from the owner. BUYING AND SELLING CARS I personally haven't been in this situation with Sharp, but I know several who have. They'll take their car to Sharp for a repair. Sharp will come back with an estimate for the work. If the cost of the repairs are more than the owner wants to pay, they'll sometimes offer to buy the car off the owner for pennies on the dollar and sometimes also sell them a different car they had previously fixed. Doing this in itself isn't bad. It could actually be a great option for some owners with a costly repair. The issue is that Sharp is financially incentivized to make certain repairs more expensive, causing the owner to more likely want to sell the car to them. They can then buy and fix the car for pennies on the dollar, then turn around and sell that car to someone else for a higher profit AND sell the original owner a car as well. They're incentivized to buy your car off of you for cheap, not necessarily to fix your car for you. While it would have been nice to use them going forward due to location and their prices appear to be pretty decent, we'll be choosing other shops in the future and recommend others do as well, or at least don't ever plan to question what they tell you or they might kick you to the curb. read more

Took my truck here because of an obvious brake fluid leak- paid for new rear brakes but barely made the turn off 93 because of a lack of brakes. Got home to find no brake fluid in the front reservoir. Seriously?? Over $800 for just rears and I need to complete the job? And had the truck for over two weeks... read more

Brent the owner, Wayne, and John at Sharps have always been 100% honest with me when it came to my jeep. I have had that jeep in this shop more times than I'd like to admit. We call he the frequent flyer. Every time I get her back with the issue fixed quickly and professionally with the work and or parts under warranty. Recently I have been having issues with the miles per gallon being incredibly bad. Sharps has had it in the shop for this issues multiple times each time fixing this and that, and researching what the heck is causing the bad mileage. Sharps has never once just told me oh it's broke get rid of it Probably because they know I love that jeep like my child and because they knew it could be fixed. The go above and beyond every time the jeep stops in for a visit. They have also worked on my husband's truck and got that done quickly and the right way. We have taken multiple cars and trucks to them before we buy them because they will tell us the truth and it it's a good idea to purchase it or not. I'm from Missoula and wouldn't dare let any other shop near me touch any of my cars. Sharps is worth the drive or in my case the tow every time. read more

I was looking for a good car to have in Montana at my home there, and ultimately decide to purchase a used Subaru Outback 2002 from Brent via his Craigslist posting. It looked good on line, and even better, he was putting in a Subaru re-manufactured engine with a 36,000 mile warranty. My son in Missoula checked it out and reported it was in very good condition with minimal blemishes for a car with 160,000 OD miles on it. Brent did some extra work on the car at no additional cost, other than those items I requested to be repaired prior to picking it up. Great little car that I put on over 2000 miles within weeks of getting it. Several other items developed on the long road trips that needed repairing: Front rotors and brakes, headlight aiming and lens cleaning, front wheel bearings, catalytic converter that caused the Check Engine Light to stay on. Brent did the repairs, some at no charge and with big discount on labor too. Care runs great now and will surely get another 100,000 out of it over the years. Buying a used car is iffy at best, but this experience has been great. A good deal for a good vehicle and backed up by the seller above and beyond the call. Their work is excellent and the costs are more reasonable than elsewhere, as other reviews have stated. Brent answers the phone just about anytime and freely gives information and what the car might need to get it right. I highly recommend these folks to do business with for your auto repair. read more

Have been going here for four years or so. Brent the owner and his crew (usually one or two additional mechanics) are knowledgable and honest. I should say honest and willing to take the time. Sharp auto is usually about half the amount of estimates from Missoula Dealerships. He's worked on my Dodge Ram 2500, my Honda CRV and my VW Passat. I've called him from out of state while on a trip to consult about an issue and he returns my calls promptly to help me with that specific problem. Great small town auto mechanic - honest and reliable. I will continue to refer friends/family. read more

I took my f250 there to have the transfer case rebuilt and was the worst job ever, lasted about one hour,when the chain and everything brook loose and tore up the casing and all. took it back and it took Brent 4 weeks to redo it , only when I told him I would pick it up and do myself, Brent is very arrogant , smart ass and dumb, would not recommend to anyone. read more

Took in a pickup to have the transfer case rebuilt, had it done over night, lasted about one hour , took it back under warranty and it took Brent almost 4 weeks to fix it, and I went over one time to check on it and Brent was very rude, he had more reasons why it went out than Obama has for excuses , he is good at lies, so I would not recommend unless you want to waste your time and money read more
