Was very fortunate to stumble upon Dr. McGarrity after previously being assigned to several PCPs by my HMO who either were no longer in the office they were listed in or even in one case literally deceased. I begged my insurance company to just find me a warm body in a nearby office and they made up for all their past transgressions by assigning Dr. McGarrity as my PCP. At my first appointment Dr. M gave me a tour of her impressive office space and really got to know me as a person before the exam even began. Unlike some of the reviews on here, I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen for any of my visits here. I felt very welcomed into her office by both her and all her staff every time. Every interaction I have had with anyone in her office during the initial appointment and subsequent followup visits was professional and friendly. I have received top notch service with a smile and I would recommend Dr. McGarrity to anyone looking for a qualified, experienced and compassionate physician to help you with your health and wellness. She will listen to you and help you figure out what is wrong. Truly a gem! read more

Please pay attention to the one-star reviews. If I could give zero stars, I would. During my first visit, the doctor initially seemed nice. However, once I was brought in, I was instructed to sit next to the front office staff and listen while she called my insurance company as she finished eating. I found this both unusual and uncomfortable. Before being seen, I was asked to walk around the office, which also felt odd. During the examination, she seemed very scattered and distracted. Later, I was billed for a "telephone consultation" that I did not request. The call was initiated by Dr. McGarrity only to inform me of an outstanding balance, no medical advice, treatment, or consultation was provided during that call which she made. I disputed the charge with both the doctor and the collection agency. I made it clear that I had no issue paying the balance for my initial office visit. During my attempt to resolve the billing issue, the doctor told that I could at least pay $10 per month. When I agreed to that, I was then told, "No, I'm just kidding--you need to pay it now." I found this interaction confusing and unprofessional. Ultimately, I paid the balance to avoid additional stress, not because I agreed with the charge. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage prospective patients to carefully review all billing and consider other providers. I will Not be returning. read more

I met Dr. McGarrity in January, for my first visit she was kind and welcoming and I was so relieved to meet a doctor who had a good heart and cared. I moved to Cali a year ago and live here by myself so it was scary for me having health issues and being so far from home with no one to help. She referred me to a GI doctor who was very rude to me and dismissed my concerns. I decided to go with another GI doctor because I felt uncomfortable with him. When I met with Dr. Mcgarrity she asked me why I didn't go with the GI doctor she picked and snapped at me because I told her I didn't have a ride for the procedure anyway (you need someone to drive you for the procedure) She then asked me "Well how did you get to your appointment today with me?" I told her I didn't need a driver to get to my appointment for a general visit. She then asked, "Why not Uber?!!" I said that it wasn't allowed. She turned into a different person which was upsetting for me. She also refused to sign my disability paperwork and charged me $10 a page for anything she had to sign. At my next appointment when I arrived and came back to get my blood pressure checked she stated She hadn't eaten and wanted to take a 30-minute lunch. I looked at Dr.Mcgarrity and smiled thinking she was joking, but she directed me back to the waiting room and proceeded to take a 30 min lunch. I thought she was a good person, I'm not sure if she was going through something but no patient should be treated like that. I already feel alone being in a state that is a 4-hour flight away from home and she showed no compassion or empathy. read more

I admit there are some improvements that can be made to Dr. McGaritty's office. The first being the wait time. I came 5 minutes early to my 11am appointment today and I wasn't seen until 11:30. Though not terrible, I wasn't out until 1pm, and that is because I had to stress to her staff that I have a job and I needed to leave at 1pm. Another patient was waiting since 10:30am and wasn't seen until noon - that's kind of crazy. When I told two different staffers this, they both gave me the same look and response, which was like "We'll try our best. She's on her own time." I came in for a standard physical, and everything went accordingly. I was a little taken aback by one of the other doctors being in the room with us. He was taking notes based on her questions for me, my responses, and her follow up action items. I did LOVE that she asked me about my mental health. I haven't had any other doctor ask about my happiness, eating habits, sleep habits... I really appreciated that. Her number listed ends in 1160 but it's hard to get a hold of someone live - always the answering machine. I tried 323-294-4228 and was able to speak with someone live. read more

Huge disappointment. Dr McGarrity has been my PCP for years now and today when I called I was told I could not be seen because I was considered a new patient since my last visit was last year. Mind you I don't go to the dr unless it's my annual or I really need to. The last time I was there was for my annual. I was told I couldn't be seen because of Covid. So because I don't have Covid I get disregarded for my medical concerns? Not expectable. read more

We have all experienced the impersonal, rushed doctors. I switched my primary Doc and I am So PLEASED I made this decision. As I observed how the office is ran I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. McGarrity is kind, professional and even gave me a tour of the space and stated patients may utilize the break room if we need to eat before or after. Really??? How many times has that happened to you? I'm so blessed to have found a doctor that cares. She's a D.O. meaning a more holistic approach. Sign me up. Glad I did. I'm a patient of Dr. McGarrity for a few years now. I discovered her when I sought out a D.O. instead of an MD within my Aetna plan at the time as I was interested in working with a Doctor who took a whole person/all systems approach instead of the allopathic MD approach which is so frequently not holistic or humanistic. Dr. McGarrity is a gem and has inspired me with her intelligence, compassion, professionalism and personality. Her practice is very comprehensive and sometimes includes last minute emergencies or overruns so the timing of appointments can be a bit challenging. She also does rounds in the am so early morning appointments aren't an option. But I really enjoy going to the doctor now that Dr. McGarrity is my doctor, so I've learned to schedule for days I have time and bring a book or alternately, I coordinate with the front desk if the office is running behind schedule. The women in Dr. McGarrity's office are wonderful and really work together as a team. I prefer having a doctor and team who provide quality care and who work with me rather than a sterile impersonal office which runs like clockwork. I know they are working to improve constantly to strike the balance better for the patients as well as the team. I am delighted to have found her and look forward to a long-term doctor/patient/team relationship with continuity. Something which is too rare these days... read more

She's a really nice lady and the nurses are nice. But there's no reason someone should wait up to 2 hours after their scheduled appointment to be seen. This is NOT how you run a business. They seem very unorganized and on edge at all times. Patients are rightfully annoyed bc they've all been sitting in the waiting room for hours. I've been going to Dr. Mcgarity for years she's been nothing but very professional extremely punctual and very great with their patience, My wife and I truly enjoyed the time we spend with the doctor because she goes that extra personal care that we were for my wife and I truly enjoy the time we spend with the doctor because she gives that extra personal care that's why we keep coming back for years . VERY LONG WAIT TIME 2-3 hrs!!! I chose this doctor's office because its close to home. The office is clean & very nice. The staff are friendly & professional. The doctor is also pleasant and thorough...unfortunately the wait it RIDICULOUS! I waited 2.5 hours on my 1st visit. I was helped immediately after i complained. I explained that i was a new patient and if this was a common wait time i would hv to find another doctor since i only ask for 1/2 the day off from work. Today is a month later and I'm here for a follow-up appointment. I hv been waiting for an 1.5 hours so far. There seems to be a lot of older adults in the waiting room and i assume they don't hv a job to return to...unfortunately this LONG wait time is not practical for a person with a job. Dr. McGarrity is an excellent Physician!!! Not only is she a terrific doctor, but has a very friendly, warm and caring spirit... My Primary Physician, Dr. Anitha Mitchell, is retiring... Luckily for me .. I was referred to Dr. McGarrity...She was highly recommended. Nonetheless, I proceeded to check-out her Yelp reviews .. Just wanted to check the Yelp receipts... Her patients were saying: Even though they had a scheduled appointment, there was a long wait... But I kept reading, and learned that Dr. Mcgarrity is very thorough & detail with each and everyone of her patients...She's not like the HMO's that instruct their doctors to spend 15 minutes on each patient .. Regardless of what your health challenges & issues are... In other words: It's an assembly-line... In life, you can't have everything, after-all, if you did, what would you do with it... "Know what I mean?" Therefore you should patiently wait for your name to be called...Because .. Guess what?? The patient after you has has to wait as well... After getting Heads-Up .. My first appointment I did not schedule any other appointments for that day. Took snacks, water, magazines and pocket-juice for my I-phone... Played games & read while waiting... Had a blast talking to some of the other patients in the waiting room... By the way: Her staff are very accommodating... Fell in love with Andy, one of her assistants... They are very inconsiderate of your time. My first visit here I waited 2.5 hours to be seen. I took a lunch break and came back and STILL waited. Second visit I decided to Leave after waiting 1 hr and 15 mns...And I had booked the first time slot. They seem to book at least 10 patients per time slot. Unfortunately they do not care about the patient experience, rather how many patients they can shove through the door. I will be finding a new doctor. read more

Sharon McGarrity is a wonderful person and really seems to know her stuff. (Disclaimer: She is my wife's doctor, but I have sat in on all her visits.) The only problem we have experienced during several visits was not with her, but with her office. It's true what others say, your scheduled appointment may have you waiting in the outside office for up to an hour after your appointment time. Our first experience was like this, it took about 45 minutes. However, we scheduled my wife's next appointment at the latest available time, 5pm, and we only waited 15 minutes. If you anticipate the wait and bring something to keep yourself busy, it's honestly not that bad--and it's all worth it once you meet the doctor. She is very thorough and will answer all your questions without any sign of impatience or annoyance. Thank you Dr. McGarrity! read more

Find another location for a family practice. Too many moving parts with this office and not enough results. If you call in you are on hold forever. If you do get a chance to get a appointment. Take a lunch because you will be sitting in there all day. I guess its a training location for young doctors and nurses, but its the patient that gets the short end of the stick read more

Pretttttty BAD. I chose Dr. McGarrity as a primary care doctor and came in for first visit. Even with an appointment my wait was 1.5 hours. I wasn't told about getting a full physical but quickly found a finger up my butt. My wife is a doctor and although she appreciates the thorough yet antiquated procedure, considering all I wanted was a referral for something else, she notes that I should have at least been told that I was going to get a rectal exam. Dr. McGarrity herself was pleasant and personable. But it seemed like she spent more time managing staff and correcting errors, then seeing patients. 1.5+ hour wait for a 25 min visit. I was about to leave and realized they didn't hand me a referral, they then told me i'd receive it in the mail within a week. Busy with work and family, a month passes by and I realize I don't have the referral. Luckily, I guess, it took so long to get a referral that my medical condition decided it was taking too long and cured itself. I would have forgotten about this and never gone back to Dr. McGarrity but after a few more weeks I recently needed my medical records. A third party requested it, followed up a few weeks later and was told it would be taken cared of after the July 4th holiday. It is now July 17th and still no records. AND STILL NO REFERRAL!!! Dr. McGarrity may be a nice women, she may be a good doctor, but one thing is for sure, her staff is incompetent and the office experience is no bueno. read more

Dr. McGarrity is an Amazing soul. I really believe in her. Dr. McGarrity will be a legend in her time and long after she is gone from this cruel world. Came to bring my sister here for an ear infection and we went when there was not a lot people the receptionist and the nurses were really nice and fast and the Doctor Sharon was very nice and seem to care about my sisters concerns we where pleased on how well we where treated thanks to the staff and the Doctor. read more

First impressions mean everything and upon contacting this facility multiple times via phone for scheduling as well as going in person the staff ruin everything for this place, especially the front office male receptionist. The doctor is fine although when going you are left waiting a LONG TIME. Expect to sit and wait at minimum an hour and allot yourself about 3 hours for the entire appointment. Back to front office staff, receptionist is BEYOND rude, acts like he hates his job between the the tone, and the short, smart ass responses everything. When you call the entire tone and conversation sounds like you're bothering him in calling. What a joke. And don't try to correct him about something he's inaccurate in telling you because he will ATTEMPT to talk down to you and argue. And don't try to tell the office manager about the incident or any wrong doing because according to another staff they don't have one and she wasn't of any assistance either. A complete waste of time. Nobody had time for that so needless to say I changed doctors very quickly. Another thing I didnt like is the private conversations that were had between the doctor and staff when she was correcting them on something that wasn't done right. Unprofessional. Also, I did not like that I was charged for a blood test once there. It was my first time there st that time so I didn't question it. Upon calling my insurance for clarification I was advised I did not have to pay and should have been given the option to go to my local blood lab (which I always did in the past just thought maybe this was something new to my insurance). Nope they played me for a few dollars. Not as serious as the time and staff issues but still. To Dr. McGarrity PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF IN HOW TO DEAL WITH PATIENTS. They truly need some people skills and he probably needs a new job because he clearly hates this one. read more

I went in for a strip throat she gave me a antibiotic for it told me to take off of work she also did blood work &checked my overall health while I was there told me to come back for my results. I came back She told me I was a diabetic type two didn't explain much of it to me just said loose weight &eat healthy. I then asked her if I can have a copy of all my paper work so I can have for myself which I never got until I left as a client. When I came back to her office I had asked her about my throat cause I was still spitting up mucus showed her pictures of it and this was about 3 weeks after the first check she said it's still probably from the strip throat I'm like that should have been gone I took all the antibiotics then I told her about my menstrual cycle how I have heavy bleeding 4 to 5 weeks on &only 1 to 2 weeks off that they are extremely heavy interfering with my daily activities work so she does a Pap smear checks me &sends me for an ultrasound to check my cervical &uterus tells me to check in for my results which I did she told me nothing was wrong had polyp tissue in my uterus didn't explain to me what that was I she sent me to a obgyn for more testing for hormones etc hormones were within normal range paid &still left with heavy bleeding &all they did was provide me with birth comtrol. So I've requested to change my health insurance with my job I'll just wait until I get with my new doctor. a few weeks before the new year i got really sick bad fever headaches fatigue weak and very cold so I called my doc for an appointment got my appointmenI go to her the week of Christmas I talk to a assistance's she said my appointment was Wednesday I said you guys are close Wednesday so I went Thursday she said we was open I said I wasn't told that she said we called I said I have no voicemails or miss calls from you guys assistance said well we was close On Monday due to Christmas so we opened on Wednesday I'm like wow so can I see the doc sorry we are booked for the day so I'm like whatever not about to argue decided to go to a urgent care that evening all the way in Hollywood to find out I had a bad case of bronchitis and the doc said luckily I came cause it could have turned into pneumonia and my immune system was really weak smh. So after I made it to the new year I finally asked for my results for my diabetics cause now I'm with my new doc and I finally got them which she made it so hard to get while I was a patient And I see why cause I was never a diabetic to begin with smh. I was within normal range 5.3 a1c i wasn't even a pre-diabetic and the obgyn explain to me what polyps tissues are and the reason for my periods being heavy abnormal spot bleeding and that they can be removed. It's just crazy how you think cause she's nice and sweet she's a good doctor asbolutely not she's terrible and her assistance they don't even wear scrubs they wear leggings and a T-shirt like students in a internship and they don't know much about their positions cause the doc was always helping them out with everything putting info in the cpu checking heart rate blood pressure temperature I had 3 assistance's helping me at the same time with the doc in the room so if you ever wonder why it's a long wait to be seen this is why. She over books and her assistance's are still in internship learning their positions she too cheap to hire graduated assistance's that are finish with school which well make her job much easier I'm talking about a 2 to 3 maybe even 4 hours wait so don't plan nothing on a doc visit day and to spend money and not get accurate info is a waste and waste of time I remember A guy that came in yelling and cussing cause he spent 200 dollars on medication he told her that wasn't working and wanted him to buy another treatment and he came in for his refund and I totally feel him on that. O yeah if you have united healthcare I suggest you switch to something better even bluecross cause united healthcare providers suck and more then half of their urgent cares have been closed down permanently. I suggest kaiser cause it's easy to change doctors and easy to see more than just one provider if you ever need a second opinion on something. But I will never recommend mcgarrity to anybody read more

Literally, the worst doctor I have ever been to in my entire life. So incredibly disorganized. I had to wait an hour and a half for a scheduled physical (I ended up leaving midway through because some of us have jobs that we need to get back to). I only returned to this practice because I became sick with a raging sore throat before I could change doctors. Dr. McGarrity did a strep test (originally what I thought it was) and bloodwork, but did NOT look at any other possible issues. She told me the results would be ready Thursday. I called twice only to be told that someone would call me back by the end of the day. They did not. The next day I called only to discover that it was a holiday and I would have to wait the entire long weekend before getting my results. This is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Eventually, I became so fed up that I went to Urgent Care where they correctly diagnosed the issued and proscribed much-needed antibiotics. I am so grateful to be on the mend, no thanks to Dr. McGarrity and her staff. read more

I was very impressed with Dr. McGarrity. She was not rushed, gave me time to explain my symptoms and asked me lot of questions. I don't recall any of my previous doctors ever asking me what vitamins I took and checked if it contradicted with my prescribed medications. I rather wait little bit to be seen by the doctor and get properly diagnosed and treated than to be rushed out with unanswered questions. Dr McGarritty is a good listener and very thorough. The convenient location and abundance of free parking is another plus! read more
