History
Established in 1975.
Richard Wetterer studied pottery and sculpture at the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, and the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. After teaching on the college level for a number of years, Richard started Shanware Pottery in 1975 in the basement of an old bank building in Stoneham, Massachusetts. The pottery moved to Billerica in 1980 and finally to Rumney, NH in 1987. In 2004 a new studio and gallery was built to replace the old barn which had served the studio for many years, but had seen better days. We hope you will stop by for a visit.
