The Chino hotel is located in Woollongabba and even though this might not sound like a great vacation spot it has its perks. For one it is really close to the city and takes 10 min on public transport. And even better for you cricket fans its about 5 min away from the world famous Gabba stadium. The Chino hotel is nice because its quite new and the rooms are modern. I liked the 1 bedroom catered apartments because you have all the things you enjoy from a hotel but with the space of a small apartment. It also had a nice pool and a small gym. The staff are all friendly but just watch out because check in closes at 10 pm.

This meant that people where using the stairwells and fire escapes to move about. The room appears modern, but is in serious need of TLC. There was severe rust on the glass widows/doors which would crumble when opening the sliding glass door. Only one hot plate worked on the stove top. The dishwasher door didn't seal properly and leaked when washing glassware. Minimal free milk in bar fridge. An absolutely disgusting place to stay

Close to Eagle St Pier (nice for a walk/run near the river) and professional businesses. Lots of cafes nearby. Nightlife is dead in this area but then that could be all of Brisbane. Pricey dinner options in the area but the Oaks provides you with a massive room service menu that you can tap into to satiate your hunger. Poised at the city side of the new Kurilpa Bridge, it is in an excellent location to take a stroll to the Gallery of Modern Art, State Library and the cultural delights of South Bank. The rooms are spacious (regardless of whether you decide on a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment) fitted with chic modern electrical appliances and furniture. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils for travellers wanting to unleash their inner-Masterchef, and a microwave for those who are more than happy to heat up somebody else's culinary wizardry. The bedrooms are large, with full length mirrors adorning the massive wardrobes. All rooms come complete with flat screen TV's and a balcony, perfectly positioned to watch the sun rise and set over the Brisbane River. One of the nice little touches were the lifts. An LED display on the inside spelt out motivational quotes - and every lift ride would contain a different quotation. Can't say I've come across a more welcoming, motivating lift in my life! Ive done this in the past and some of the time the pictures online do not really stack up to what you get. So hoping for the best I booked the Quattro on Astor hotel. This time however I was more than pleasantly surprised, the first thing I was impressed with was the location. It was on Astor terrace which is close to the CBD but you are not swarmed by people going to work and it's just out of the way of the weekend crowds. The room was also very impressive with all new and modern furniture and it had two bedrooms and a small kitchenette. The balcony was great too as it could hold 8 people comfortably and had great views of the city. There was also a pool on the roof which was perfect for the crazy humid summer days when only a pool can get out of the humidity. They have a reception area but because it's more of a catered apartment effect they do leave at 5 pm every day and don't work on Sundays.
