The clubhouse is easy on the eye, great for functions and parties and does a good meal on Friday night. I haven't been to a wedding here but judging by the food and flexibility of the staff at a couple of parties I've attended, it would be a good choice of venue. And then there's the sacred grass, highly valued by club members, who yearn to hit their balls around whenever possible, it seems; this, at least, is my partner's view. Not much of a player myself, I know only that it is a very picturesque course, with lovely water features inhabited by fish and turtles and it's great for a pleasant stroll on a sunny day. Guests can get a game for around $40 but this is subject to availability and the course is often busy with members only events.

The food was all paid for so I can't really give an opinion about the value for money in relation to the food quality. The bar staff was courteous and service was better in comparison to similar places that I have been to. I was really impressed with the quality of their food platters especially the seafood platter. I would give the place 4 stars but they didn't provide us with silverware or small plates to help us eat. Napkins alone (serviettes as they call it in Australia) just didn't cut it.

If you are not sure what to have why not ask one of the wonderful bar staff for a taste test (chances are it will be one of the owners...for that personal touch). I highly recommend the tasting paddle for an all round tasting experience. The team knows what's good and what works to tempt your palate. You can trust their advice. At the Bench they value quality vs quantity and will have limited edition runs of the best beers around. You'll need to be quick for these. I recommend the Stone and Wood for those who normally like a mainstream drop, this is a great little conversion piece. But for those who want a little more adventure the Mornington "Brown" is a winner (it's my pick anyway...this week) :) Food is available from local restaurants who can deliver to you directly at the Bench and menus are available. The course has a colourful history and an excellent reputation, with an 18 hole championship course and 9 hole par 3 course. There's an active junior golfing program and Pacific has been the venue for the Gary Player Junior Classic for the last 30 years. Not a golfer myself, I have accompanied friends who've played and can say the clubhouse is very nice on a hot day.
