We were coming into town from Tacoma. I booked it for 6PM thinking we would have plenty of time. Traffic from Tacoma to Portland of course can be unpredictable. We got there at 605. The tour had already started and the tour guide seemed flustered by our tardiness. Not his fault, but get there on time. Tour was pretty cool. Guide was knowledgeable. The tunnel portion was a bit shorter than I thought it would be, but still cool nonetheless.

There is a network of tunnels underneath Portland that was once used for nefarious as well as legitimate activities. Legitimate - storage for businesses, easier transportation of goods than on the streets above; nefarious: human trafficking, opium dens, prob gambling, and etc. We took a tour of one portion of the tunnels starting from the hosts of the tour at Old Town Pizza and Brewery on Davis. The tour guides there are delightful, with tons of intriguing stories, both old and new, of the history of the tunnels and the alleged haunting of the tunnels. There's a bit of footwork required-the walking surfaces can be uneven, there are low doors and low-hanging pipes, and narrow stairs. They keep it dark for the added ambience, and in this case, give you small lamps to carry (which was fun); they also light small candles here and there and have added period-specific furnishings or memorabilia. I found the old newspaper postings hung on the walls most fascinating. Why not five stars? Well, almost nothing is left from the original time, which isn't the fault of the tour hosts but is a disappointment nevertheless. It's up to the person if you are able to fully absorb the ambience though we sure appreciated the efforts of the host to make it as interesting as possible and to give a very informational tour. Certainly recommend if for no other reason than to learn from history so as not to KEEP repeating it. It's fun, it's different, it's a unique way to spend 90 minutes, and then get some beer and pizza upstairs. Perfect.

Great tour to learn about Portland history and it's connection to human trafficking, boot leggers and more illegal underground activities.

GREAT TOUR! I enjoyed a lot walking through the Shanghai Tunnels, it was spooky, interesting and mysterious. Also, the guide tour Natasha is super friendly and smart. You can tell she loves her job as she knows the entire history of the Shanghai Tunnels and the architecture of Portland. Highly recommend it!!!

I'm not sure why all the poor reviews but my husband and I really enjoyed this tour. We started our tour at Old Town Pizza where we got food beforehand. Our guide Natasha was a great story teller and had so many fun historical facts. The tunnels are truly creepy and it was really interesting hearing about what they were used for and the scale of it. I won't give any spoilers but I think it's something I would definitely recommend if you're into morbid history. Just fyi there's a bit of walking underground, meaning dusty floors, and the tour can be in the dark at times. We were given lanterns to light the way and it really adds to the experience but just fyi if you have allergies or asthma worsened by dust. The beer tasting at the end was the cherry on top. It was such a cool place to have a tasting. Overall a fun way to learn about the city's history.

It's really just a tour of their basement. Tour is pretty lame with objects added and not authentic.

We did the WildWood Trail to the Witches Castle! It's a nice hike. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes! 2.3-5 miles round trip. It's a big enough path for multiple people but some areas narrow. At the bottom of the trail when you cross the street, there was a porta potty. Map as well. Parking is expensive: weekend Saturday it was roughly $24 for all day! There are benches and picnic tables towards the view! Staff are very nice! Gift shop as well with snacks, plants, jewelry, postcards, and all sorts of items.

From the moment the tour started, Colin was engaging, knowledgeable, and full of energy. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion really comes through in the way he tells each story. Colin didn't just recite facts--he brought Portland's haunted history to life with vivid storytelling, humor, and just the right amount of suspense. Every stop felt immersive, and he made sure everyone in the group was included and comfortable. He was great at answering questions, sharing extra details, and even adjusting the pacing so no one felt rushed. His personality added so much to the experience, making it feel more like an adventure than just a walking tour. The extended portion of the tour was absolutely worth it, and Colin made sure it felt special by adding even more stories, history, and eerie details. My boyfriend and I were hooked the entire time. We laughed, got chills, and learned so much about downtown Portland that we never would have known otherwise. If you're thinking about doing a ghost tour in Portland, I 100% recommend this one--and especially if you can get Colin as your guide. He made our night so fun, memorable, and unique. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip!

I looked back on the website after the tour and its clear that the wording is very careful to not specify exactly what you're doing. Essentially we spent an hour and a half walking through the streets of downtown Portland with a few stops outside dark, closed up buildings or locked hotel lobbies to hear vague ghost stories. We took pictures of vacant windows and boarded off doors. Literally just standing on a sidewalk for 5 minutes listening to how this was "one of the most haunted places" the guide had ever been before walking on in silence for another 15 minutes . When I asked clarifying questions the guide wasn't able to provide more details. We stopped in 3 different parking lots to hear the same story about paved over sacred burial grounds and haunted trees. Now, I can say that the history we heard was correct, but it was extremely vague, and not particularly scary. The guide was very kind, just not able to give more info. Also they leave you on the sidewalk a 15 minute walk away from where the tour originally started. If you want someone to guide you through downtown while you learn some light history lessons, admire architecture, and figure out where to park this could be fun! But please know there are zero ghosts, tunnels, or haunted houses. All in all there's better ways to spend 26 bucks on 1.5 hours of cardio

The prices for the waterfalls and Oregon coast tours were so reasonable. On Memorial Day 2025, I went on the Oregon Coast tour. Initially, the weather was overcast skies and we ran into light rain on the way, but it cleared up nicely. I surprisingly met fellow Texans on the tour with me, they were from my favorite part of TX too (West). We instantly connected when I told them I used to live in Lubbock and was a Red Raider! The other people on the tour was delightful too. For our first tour, we had guide, David. David was very knowledgeable about the trees. He talked about them a lot. He knew small details about the flowers, history of the roads, the state park, and just about everything, but especially trees. I almost thought he got a degree in Forestry to be that keen in the subject. David gave ample amount of time to shop/eat in Seaside, OR. I didn't eat since I had a huge breakfast and had no idea what restaurants were vegan. The following day, I went on the waterfalls tour with guide, Joe. Joe was AH-MAZING!!! He was so funny and made an accommodation to allow me to charge my phone along the way (since I did a full day of exploring Portland by foot and forgot to pack my charger). I understood my 90s references too which was cool. Joe was informative about the history, how the falls got their names, he identified goldstar lichen (even gave me the correct pronunciation of the word), and allowed plenty of time to explore. I loved how kind and helpful he was each time assisting an elderly disabled lady to and from the van. These tour guides don't have to be from Portland or even Oregon to provide a 5-star, A+, and solid in the bag tour of the most stunning attractions. I had a tour company, Sea to Summit/guide Josh (partial native Josh) tell me not to trust Wildwood for that very reason, but get this, Sea to Summit couldn't even find a party of four or more to pair me with on the waterfalls tour. They tried to contract with EcoTours with Jeff and again, not even was he able to get people to go. They kept telling me to wait and call back in five days, but they never had anything! Now what does that tell you?! Trust Wildwood Adventures, you won't be disappointed and you'll get your monies worth! As a solo traveler, I felt safe, comfortable, and enjoyed myself immensely. I met friends on this tour (that I spotted yesterday at Pittock Mansion; they called me by name). Thank you Wildwood Adventures for being so dependable!!
