Usually buy from here and usually have a good meal but not today. Tasteless, overcooked and chewy…read more I phoned them to tell them I was unhappy and the person I spoke to kept speaking over me, tried to say I asked for burnt food and that the usual chef had left and they were using a 'new recipe', apparently they now make lemon chicken with no lemon or sauce for that matter since I can't call the barely flavored water my chicken came in sauce. Despite repeated attempts to explain my issues with the food, I never got more than a couple of words because they kept talking over me and then simply hung up on me. Will Never use again and I recommend you don't either

And I mean REALLY craving Chinese food. At this point, it has been a few months since I left the comfort of my grandmother's home to live in Wales. For those of you who don't know my grandma (which is all of you I hope), she is the MASTER. I swear to God if Gordon Ramsay tried her hui guo rou or hong xiao rou he'd demand a recipe. If you tried one of her pork dumplings you'd gain about 10 stone. And love. Every. Second. With about 90% of my blood being composed of Chinese food, you can imagine my disappoint when coming to Wales and being fed junk. I don't make a big deal about authenticity - if something tastes good then it tastes good regardless of whether or not it's cooked by an 80 year old Chinese grandma who can smell if a dish is too salty. But the problem with the whole authenticity thing with a lot of Welsh Chinese restaurants is that the flavours are EXTREMELY lackluster. Sweet and sour... sweet and sour everywhere... Anything you want spicy might be spicy to a 1 week old baby with fresh out the womb taste buds. I'm just trying to get you into my frame of mind when I decided to order from Creosy Fish Bar & Chinese. I accepted that I won't get my hui guo rou ever in Wales, but I at least want something decently Chinese. What I ended up getting surprised my taste buds and I can definitely say that I'll be a-knocking again. What we ordered... ~ Fried Chicken Wings - 6 pieces (£3.70) With salt and pepper chilli. These chicken wings were actually spicy. The Szechuan kick that was signature in my grandmother's cooking was definitely there. The flavours were awesome, but the meat itself did taste a bit stale and chewy, but I'm putting it down to the fact that we ordered just an hour before closing. ~ Roast Pork Fried Rice (£4.40) This fried rice wasn't authentic, but it was very delicious. The roast pork was tender and yummy and the rice was fried perfectly. ~ Chicken Curry (£4.20) Probably my favourite out of what we ordered. The curry flavours were DELICIOUS. There's a big difference between Chinese curry and Indian curry and they're great in their own ways. Chinese curry I would say is less about the spice and more about a hearty flavour which Creosy did SPOT ON! Overall, I am very pleased with my meal from Creosy Fish Bar & Chinese. Although it wasn't 100% authentic, the flavours were definitely not lackluster and very yummy! Coupled with the fact that our order came in just 30 minutes, I would without a doubt be ordering again.
