Returned again to this little cozy corner, and had another good experience. I was tossed up between a spicy burger and the bacon & egg, so I ordered a side of jalapeños..lol Again the food was quality, and the service was good. I think they're working with portion control a little, as the amount of fries seemed a little smaller, but they were still great! They have a Bloody Mary that is almost a meal in itself! It comes with a skewer full of veggies, bacon, pepperoni and cheese. (I forgot to get a picture because I was too busy enjoying it) It was awesome! This gave me the Cheers vibe! We should have said, "Afternoon Everybody!" when we walked in for Sunday lunch. Shakers Bar + Grill is a great place to dine in Wixom right on the edge of Novi and right off the freeway. Our server, Hunter, was fabulous! She was attentive and sweet. My girlfriend could have easily have been Norm from Cheers. She is a frequent flyer at Shakers. Two other staff came by the table to say "hi." One even knew to let our server, Hunter, know my girlfriend was going to order extra protein with a side of chicken for her favorite salad....Our Crispy Chicken Salad was excellent! The portion was huge with enough left over to have a side salad to take home for dinner later. I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu and their carrot cake for two. Stopped in for the half-off drumsticks special and went with Korean BBQ + Garlic Parmesan. Flavor was solid! I'll be honest, I was expecting smaller wing dings but these came out looking like the family pack of drums from the local Kroger Different, but still good. I paired it with my usual tequila and lemonade, and Matthew behind the bar made the whole experience even better .. super attentive and friendly. I have my choice of date night with my husband to go anywhere in the surrounding area, wixom, south Lyon, Novi....and each week we still choose shakers. Yes the food is amazing, pretty sure I've tried everything in the menu, but our reason for going is the service. Yes all the girls we interact with are amazing but Krystale always always goes over and beyond for us. We always make sure to sit in her section no matter where it is. There's time I can't decide on what I want to eat so she suggests for me and I love it! I've have never had such amazing treatment from any service! We tell everyone about her and this place. I have tried this place twice and there is no chance I will be returning. Both times I wasn't able to get past the appetizers. The wings were absolutely disgusting and hardly edible. The garlic fries were so oily and under-fried that it almost looked like a potato soup on a plate. Even the waitress knew the food is bad! This past time dining in, she saw mine and my wife's barely touched plates, and immediately says "it's okay if you don't like it" and offered a refund so naturally like she's used to having people turn away food all the time here. My family and I really enjoy coming here. The food is always good, tastes fresh. The service here has always been good and we have been here a few times. We were there on Saturday evening and our waiter was very nice and other than my husband's meal coming out as shrimp rather than chicken, we had no issues. Food was average for all four people in our party. I have to say, having a loud band at 6 PM was the downfall. Maybe in the bar area but not in the dining room and not at 6 PM. They were so loud, we were screaming at each other to talk and finally picked up and moved to the bar. We complain but never saw a manager. The waiter said the band was 6-8 which is dinner time. Why not start at 8 when people are maybe looking for some entertainment? We won't be back. ***Coming back to edit my review. Awful dreadful experience on a bustling Saturday night. This was my third choice since the two spots I wanted were packed. Seated towards their patio they had live music from a daughter and father or least looked like it and it was so damn loud I had to yell across the table. Just awful first of all. Second of all service. Service started out fine but then we couldn't get water refills and the kitchen completely forgot our order. Sat for over 20 minutes awaiting our meals only to be told that they forgot and were actively making them now. They did comp the two meals however. Third, our food was gross and looked smashed or reused. Burger was raw and chicken sandwich had no sauce. Had to ask to get it cooked and something to go on the chicken. The crispy chicken sandwich also comes with nothing on it but pickles... no greens or tomatoes? After we had had enough we left deciding not to ever return. Later I spent the entire night with a stomach ache and gave that sandwich right back the way it came. Spent the rest of the night sucking down pepto bismol trying to "stop the leak". Went downhill. Went here a lot last summer, it was good food, good service, and affordable. Returned this summer when we brought a family member for his birthday. Two orders of wings and a chicken sandwich. The wings were barely edible. Idk if they're trying to cut costs but by far the worse chicken quality ever used for wings. Chicken sandwich was not much better. Decided to order a piece of the cake to go. Never felt more ripped off. Got home to a tiny piece of dry cake, and it was $15. Absolutely crazy. read more

I've been coming here for years and the last two times within the last two weeks it's been horrible. Service was terrible. We have sat at both tables and at the bar in the last two weeks and the drinks have been undrinkable (awful) , and the service has taken forever at the tables. When we were sitting at a table, we had some food that needed some editing and we could not get help so we just ended up eating the cost. I'm not sure what has changed in the last two weeks, but I will not be returning to this bar for a while. Definitely boring and not a good experience. We were here for a business network event this week. Lots of good connections and there were an assortment of shareable foods that were ordered for the HH event, albeit all bar food items. I've been here around 5-6 times and with one exception, I've had very positive experiences. In particular, I enjoyed the pizza and burgers. The service has usually been good. I like the dining room and the music that plays in the room. The only negative is that when I tried ordering a medium cooked steak, I was given a steak that was basically raw. This was my first time eating here. We picked this place specifically because they had good vegetarian options (for other members of our party). I ordered the "steak bites" or filet tips as it's called on the menu. I hate to see canned mushrooms, but they weren't horrible. In my opinion, the potatoes were the best part of this starter. Next I ordered the Baja shrimp skewers. They were okay. They look like they would be bursting with flavor, but they were just ok. The rice was cold but the ginger made it enjoyable. We got here at 3:55. Sat ourselves like the sign suggests to, in the back by one other table. We said hello to a guy as we were headed back. Did not see our server for 10 minutes. Mind you there's 2 tables and a few at the bar that the bartenders handling. I guess the cook is training another in the kitchen so food was taking a bit longer for food. When she did finally come out she just walked past us twice without a word before bringing us some waters. We just ordered cheese bread. Waited 30 minutes for it. Was good cheese bread, not sure we'll be back any time soon for it though. I find shakers to be very hit and miss. I've tried many things in their menu and sometimes they are great and other times not so much so. I believe they've gone through lots of chefs over the years and that may be part of the challenge. I've never been to the one in Canton, but the one in Wixom certainly struggles with consistency. They have a reasonable bar and I haven't found their prices to be unreasonable at all. I have had some issues with them being out of things more often then I would expect. It's a decent place worth trying, but it does get frustrating when you can't count on consistency in the food. read more

I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, but several hours after eating dinner here, I experienced food poisoning for the first time. I won't go into detail, but suffice it to say that I was violently ill for 2 days and I had never felt worse in my life. For my entree I got a NY strip steak, which came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a side salad. I actually ordered a ribeye, but was informed by my waiter that they were out and that the cooks automatically switched my order to the strip steak without telling him. I was looking forward to the more tender cut, but it was fine...strip steak is leaner/healthier anyway. When it arrived, it turned out to be a bit more rare than the medium rare that I ordered, but I didn't mind that. I've never had problems eating rare/medium rare steak. Strangely, although it was on the rare side of medium rare, it was still tough and chewy rather than tender. The meat didn't really taste like it had much seasoning. The mashed potatoes were pretty stiff rather than fluffy. I tried some of my dad's lake perch and it was just so bland - I couldn't taste any seasoning at all. As for service, I think the kitchen's timing isn't very good. I had to eat most of my salad after the meal because they brought it literally a couple minutes before the entrees came out and I didn't want the entree to get cold. We did have a friendly, attentive waiter. Based on the overall taste and service, I would've given this place 3 stars. I'm not sure what exactly made me sick here, but I'm guessing it was something to do with the steak, because my dad also had a salad and had no issues. Maybe it was a bad piece of meat or it wasn't refrigerated properly or something - no idea, but this experience was quite traumatizing and it will be a while before I can even touch a steak again. read more

This place is just ok. We recently moved to the area so we wanted to try out a new restaurant. We were seated quickly but things went downhill from there. It was our waitress's first day so we tried to cut her some slack. Drinks: She took our drink order and brought back the wrong drinks. Then we asked if they had any IPA beer choices which she didn't know and didn't offer to find out. Eventually my fiancé just asked for a Diet Coke because it seemed like easiest choice. Food: Toss up between our meals. My fiancé enjoyed his sweet chili chicken dinner. He said the chicken was slightly over cooked but the sweet sauce made up for it. I ordered the California chicken club with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was disappointing as there was no flavor and very bland. All I could taste is the lettuce. I also don't get the sauce I requested on the side so I asked for it. I got ranch and it tasted like a store bought bottle (so disappointing when Leo's and Red Olive have amazing ranch dressing). The sweet potato fries were good, but cold. Overall, we will probably give the place one more try because my fiancé enjoyed his food. read more

Order a turkey burger. I was expecting a fresh ground turkey burger not a frozen patty heated up and dressed up with cheese,lettuce and tomatoes! So expensive for a patty I can purchase at a grocery store and limp lettuce.AWFUL!! The comment from mgmt is hilarious. Of course I had to try the patty in order to see how it tasted. I Asked for no bun so that is just the patty with the fixins in the picture. I just flipped it over so people could see what it looked like. And they did not comment in it being a frozen patty versus a fresh burger which what I was expecting. I stopped into this bar near my hotel in a recent trip. Excellent selection of beers on tap and a good food menu. The bartender was excellent and helped me narrow down my food choices. Lunchtime came and went, I hadn't eaten anything today, and we were on our way out to do some running around and thought we would stop somewhere on our way. Shakers came to mind because it was right on the way to our first stop and we'd been there before. Not that we thought, "oh let's go there!" It was more like, "hey, we can get something quick there." And we didn't want fast food. Well, we got here and actually sat in the exact same booth we sat in before. It's the middle of the afternoon and there's virtually none here and it's pretty dark in here. As we looked around, all i could think is how generic it is here. It seems like everything came from the restaurant supply store and I guess just the configuration of the place makes me think Coney Island. Not that there's anything wrong with the place, just doesn't appeal to me. And why is it so dark in here? Our server got us drinks, iced tea and diet coke, and I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger and she had the Grilled Chicken Bacon Ceaser Wrap. And then the waiting began. I sort of remembered that we waited a while last time as well, but when our food came, it was fresh, it was cooked right and it was pretty good. Well, my burger was anyway. She said her wrap was very dry, barely a few drops of ceaser dressing, and the chicken was burnt. She also didn't like the big chunks of core lettuce that it contained either. I looked around for a bit more salt for my fries and there was only a pepper grinder. No salt? What's THAT about? I did ask for mustard and when she brought it, she brought a little cup of mustard. Do you see the little cup of ketchup for my fries in the picture? That's the way I got the mustard. . .I've never seen that before. I don't know about you, but I don't spread mustard on something with a knife or a fork. Just wierd to me. She thought so too. Now, like I said, my burger was fine, there were issues with her wrap and all in all, I would've given 4 stars, and she says 2. But when the bill came, that took away from the stars because neither of us paid any attention to the prices on the menu but my burger was in no way worth $13, and her wrap wasn't worth the price either, especially given its condition. read more

It's not very busy and nobody has food or drinks. There are only a couple of tables here and neither table has had any service. The table next to us had to go in and get their own plates after the pizza got dropped off. Then she had to go inside and get her own boxes for her leftovers cause they never came back after probably about a half hour! Still waiting on food but we shall see how this goes... so far, probably won't come back. Edit: After Shaker's responded with how businesses are hurting, it's obvious, yes, I do live in the United States, I know everybody is hurting. I didn't even know that Shakers existed until about a week or ten days ago. What a classic restaurant! Lots of seating and cozy but spacious. Huge menu with lots of creative options. You can't go wrong here. We ordered different items, a dinner salad. I had the Ahi Poke Bowl. It was fresh and had great flavor. The wait staff knew how to be attentive without being overly so. I am not sure if this is a diner that looks like a sports bar or a sports bar that looks like a diner. But either way, it has aspirations to be a fine dining restaurant and be kid friendly as well. And despite of trying to be a little bit of everything to everyone, they almost succeed. They have a large bar, many TVs, lots of drink specials, and a massive menu with everything from hamburgers and pizza to fillet mignon and ribeye steak. We also got the cheesy bread which was huge. It was cheesy and worth the price. I also got the california chicken sandwich which was huge. There was a lot of chicken and fresh avocado.
