Pour Wine + Gifts is a touch of sophistication in the picturesque Cedar Fairmount neighborhood in…read moreCleveland Heights. It's a recent addition to the local business landscape. I finally experienced this wine boutique during the Music Hop Festival. ASSORTMENT: The shop impresses with its extensive global collection of wines and spirits (over 500 wines). You'll find anything from the mundane Aperol to the trending Veuve Clicquot to the classic Dom Perignon. Beyond the wine, you'll discover interesting foods - wine spreads, locally acclaimed POP mustard, local Heights Mitchell's Chocolate, pasta, oils, and more. There is a rich gift assortment suitable for any occasion - erode soaps, bookish trays, adorable wine beanies, soap tubs, greeting cards, and beyond. You'll find really expensive and extremely reasonably priced wines co-existing in a single space. Wine connoisseurs might be impressed by "The Impossible Collection of Wine" for $1,400 that features the most exquisite vintages (with original labels) from around the world. Interestingly, some of the wine labels circa 1920s are as old as the neighborhood where this shop resides. BOUTIQUE: The boutique is in a historical Heights Rockefeller Building surrounded by local dining destinations. The boutique is charming - wooden detail, chandeliers, and strategic spotlights. The store display is always beautifully designed. The store contains a retail area, and a small bar with bar stools. During my visit there was wine tasting for $15 with options to try 3 pours. I tried Aperol (with prosecco). Seemed like a great value. There were also complimentary appetizers. A Glass of Vino (string trio) were playing right outside the shop. SERVICE: The owner and sommelier have extensive experience in the wine industry and provide wine consultation. They were reasonably friendly. I genuinely felt subtle imperious reactions. It's somewhat atypical for the city's culture but maybe that's just wine culture. Perhaps that would be different if I was a regular. Parking: Small parking lot is available behind the building. Street parking is available during busy times. Pour is an interesting concept in the city. It's the most sophistication and extensive collection of wine. It's a perfect destination if you visit the restaurants in the area or are shopping for a gift.

So great to have in the neighborhood! Great wine selection at a range of price points, friendly…read moreowners, and other fun treats :) Can't wait to be back!

The festival is in its second year and is located on Shaker Square. Despite a little rain, plenty of people were there. We roamed the tents on both sides, sampling lots of garlic goodness, and buying items that wowed us. There were also cooking demonstrations using, of course, GARLIC, as well as live music on two stages. Here are a few of our favorites: * Sergio's Sarava's Garlic Shrimp: Sergio's really took the theme to heart and made a savory shrimp with big garlic flavor and presented it on a bed of garlic rice to boot! This one really hit the mark on celebrating garlic. Loved it! * Most interesting - Garlic Ice Cream by Mitchell's: we had to try it... everyone should try it... it actually did work! As a side note, they also had the most unbelievable caramel and salt ice cream. Just go try it, your jaw will drop. * Roasted Garlic Salsa from Blaze Gourmet (so big and flavorful - one of the best salsas out there, and it's local!) * Garlic Expressions Salad Dressing (yep, it's local too - we've been buying this for years.) * The Olive and the Grape's many Garlic Olive Oils, Cooking Oils, and spice packets. The spices they incorporate are not the basic stuff, these delightful blends are carefully scrutinized with a passion for the highest quality, healthiest ingredients from all over the world. * Whole Foods' extremely pungent, spicy garlic hummus. That says it all. Whoa. Our only criticism is that there were some who showcased their regular fare without doing something creative with garlic. We expected everything to be garlic something. Hence, Garlic Festival. One of those things that's basically implied, if you don't love garlic, then don't come. So we challenge participants next year to bring out the garlic. Show us and amaze us with what you can do with it... I'm sure we garlic lovers will applaud the effort!

Cleveland Wine Series is a scam, or at least certainly not as advertised. In the groupon (from…read moreAmazon Local, but they advertise on other sites), it was called a "wine education" event and touted how you would learn all about wine. Nonsense. Basically, this was a way to get people into the art gallery without the company having to pay for it. The only "education" available was a small printout about the wines, which you couldn't even read because it was too crowded. The so-called wine experts couldn't even answer a basic question properly (why the alcohol content differs in wine) and were really just there to pour. I was not alone in assuming this was an EDUCATION event as others asked when the program was starting. Cleveland Wine Series is a scam to get you in the door. People just stood around awkwardly because nobody really knew what was going on. Look up a how-to guide on wine tasting and then just go to a local vineyard or reputable wine dealer for a tasting. The wines weren't even that good. With the coupon, my friend and I spent $20 on admission and $10 on the tastings. Learned nothing. I wrote this in the hopes that I can prevent others from getting taken by the scam that is the Cleveland Wine Series.

Located on Lee and actually seems to share a building with the public library. Got student tickets to Land of Oz for a show on a Friday. I bought them in person and the lady at the counter was super helpful and let me know about affordable ways to see a show like the "pay what you can" prices an hour before the show- which I definitely recommend for any weekday showings. You can also volunteer as an usher and see the show for free. Basically all seats offer a really good view because it is a smaller theater. But wow!!!! So much talent in one show. The actors were all amazing singers and dancers. It was pretty hilarious too. Very cool and creative set and costume design. My expectations were not the highest- I was a little unsure of seeing a show in a cleveland suburb, but I was absolutely blown away. They also serve reasonably prices drinks at the bar and even had a few special cocktails based on the theme of the show which was cute.

It's actually in the same building as the town's library and only has 5 rows, so all seats offer a good view. The play we saw was wonderful, living up to the expectations of an Obie Award winner. Tickets are inexpensive, and the shows only play for about a month each. I think most of those in attendance have been longtime membership holders and go often. It's time that the theater reach other demographics, and I would strongly recommend going based on my experience! Bonus: you get 10% off your bill at the wine bar Taste across the street with a same day ticket, but the discount does not apply to happy hour.
