One of my favorite places to go when I'm in IF because they have great fresh-baked cookies.

I could count faster than these pumps pump gas. Took us twenty minutes to pump 7 gallons.

These sandwiches are really really good. The cranberry turkey and the hot pastrami are my favorite. Great find

Original: My review for this place is not current. I had a…read morepretty bad experience here a few years back so we will never go again. WHAT HAPPENED: When they're busy, they don't have enough servers on. This was something we had already been warned about, and got to witness first hand. Also, without informing us, they charge for soda refills! Seems the server was padding the check, thanks to two teenagers with us, and they drink soda. I had a couple of beers that I expected to be charged for, but my other half's coffee refills?, mann come-on. The place is overly priced to begin with, the food was not fantastic. They were riding on their legacy name. Surviving by tourist seasons of the unsuspecting. I gave it two stars because the food wasn't bad. I can say that the experience was not worth the bill. I did see the prices before we ordered and did not hesitate. However, those prices raised my expectations. To top it all, the atmosphere is dark and cramped. Never again! It might seem petty to not give a second chance if you think that only the bill is the reason. The lack of transparency, price to quality, and shoddy service combined. I think there are equally if not better restaurants in Idaho Falls. It's not worth the price here. UPDATE: with a vengeance! Mitch and Justin at The SnakeBite showed me just how much things can change under new management/ownership. My first review stated that it was a couple of years ago, lol Mitch helped me sort out the timeline, and it was actually close to 6 years ago. Guess I'm a little out of the loop, because I was informed that 100Proof Hospitality bought the restaurant about 4 years ago, long after I had sworn the place off forever. I know some might not appreciate an old experience popping up like brand new in a review. I get that in hindsight, but these new owners didn't flinch, and they are savvy--I tell you that. They turned someone (me) who would've never returned, into their regular customer. To start, the two teens have grown, it was only the two of us, which didn't matter because they no longer charge for refills under the new ownership. We were hosted by..well, a young man who was a little less than personable. He wasn't bad, typical in fact, but after experiencing the management and our server--the rest of the team outshines him a bit. It was late lunch, so they were still busy, but had enough open seating for the two of us. Laney--our server, is the coolest lady to ever walk the planet. She was hustling, laughing, smiling and talking with everybody. Just magnificent ambiance. She handled my undecidedness in style, answering every single one of my questions with complete honesty. "So if I put pepperjack on this, will it ruin the flavor of the cheese sauce." Direct eye contact, slowly nodding with a cringing look, "yeahhh probably." Great pallet to boot cuz she was so right. The Blue SnakeBite Burger--mann that sauce!, is what "zesty blue" is all about! I also got a Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. I hope I remember this exactly, but it's basically a spinach and artichoke dippy sauce stuffed inside of two very large portobello crowns, a fantastic drizzle and roasted red peppers on top! I would eat those every meal for the rest of my life! My other half got the Haddock with Waffle Fries, added Coconut Shrimp and Salad. She was too busy eating to tell me what she thought lol--loved it all. We sat, had met the dazzling Laney( who can bring people back all herself) ordered, and--get this--I ordered through Laney, a beer from the bar. The bar shortly later poured the wrong beer (think person ordered wrong), which was the same draft that I ordered. So over to our table comes the smiling and booming bartender with the beer out stretched to me, "You want a free beer"--well, yeah. The kicker: Nobody knew yet, including management, we were the "2nd look" couple. SnakeBite and 100Proof Hospitality, unknowingly pulled off a mic drop. Prices slightly higher than chains, and worth every cent! We will be back. So should you!

If I was fishing all day on the Snake River, this place would absolutely HIT! (....do I fish? No…read more But I imagine if I did, SnakeBite would be peak post fishing day food!) if you're a fried pickle fan, you have to order these! I'm pretty sure they lightly sprinkled some ranch seasoning on them and now I'm refusing to eat them any other way! The other highlight was the skillet cookie, which we downed like a pack of hungry wolves! Warm, gooey and yet crispy with creamy vanilla ice cream! chefs kiss

"Hmmmm," Franklin's Famous Cheesesteak Company--"gonna have to look that up." The internet was arguing with itself about what year it opened, with one site saying 2015, the other 2012. Gave up that pursuit and gave into the interesting looking menu--saw that they serve breakfast--so here we go. It sits about a block east, and then south across Elm from the IF museum, which makes it a fantastic convenient place to grab a bite after viewing exhibits. It's a small building sitting on a pretty good-sized lot, which equals a large parking lot. With pretty stark surroundings, the red, white, and blue Benjamin Franklin bust caricature of their overdoor sign should have caught my attention long ago. So you have a few names to choose from here, because this patriotic little place is dynamite, and covers just about all your hungry hangout needs. Franklin's Famous Cheesesteaks, you know at least you're going to get fed. Another smaller sign above the front door Franklin's Tavern--yep, there's a bar--this little tiny building has a lot of seating, and a bar (Beer & Wine). When walking in, the charm of richly varnished mahogany?, and framed, parchment-style scrolls featuring famous Founding Fathers can inspire an urge to salute. Clever menu cards sitting around like Ben's Ice Cream Parlor, and Franklin's Fizzy Fountain Drinks, highlight just how much character this place has. You sit anywhere you like, as we were instructed by our--OMGosh the service!! This was also iconic, as I've been seeing this lady around IF for years. Sweet lady, who was working at one of my fast food frequents, always ready to take real good care of people while calling them hun--she hasn't changed a bit. After dropping Ben's Breakfast Menus for us and asking, "What can I get for your drinks, hun?" she quickly returned with a couple of mugs and a coffee pot. Their coffee is actually one of the best single-pot brews in town. So, sipping, relaxing, and checkin out what this Cheesesteak Company has for breakfast. I mean, without looking at the menu, while only taking the actual business name into account, you might think eggs, cheese and meat hoagies. You know.., I didn't notice, they might actually have those too, but--sooo much more. Ben's Breakfast Menu is no joke! Instantly you're at a small diner, not a sandwich shop. And small only describes the building, because the plate you'll be served is huge. I got Ben's Big Biscuits & Gravy Plate--big fluffy biscuit smothered in sausage gravy. Two eggs scrambled with cheese & onions, and browns or Idaho Potatoes. This is a plateful, and it's super tasty. (The Biscuit plate alone is enough food for most 146lb-ers). Also got Big Mec Muffin--lol--be prepared to buy three of the competitor's to equal the size of this thing. Their sausage is super meaty and flavorful, the eggs are fresh cracked, and it ain't no dinky muffin. I chose Pepperjack--zazing! She got Ben's Chicken Fried Steak breakfast, with as you'd imagine deep-fried breaded cube steak, smothered in sausage gravy. Comes with two eggs any way, anndd It comes with a couple potato choices. Hashbrowns, or fresh diced Idaho Potatoes (w/peppers & onions). Ok--come on, that's not really a choice lol--the description sold the potatoes to her lol. Annnd toast, or for a slight upcharge, a Big Biscuit (she got the biscuit with jam). Add the coffee, Drum-Roll...when adding the biscuit to hers...36 bucks, Wow! Incredible value. As shocked as I was that we got all that great food & coffee for 36 bucks, she was telling me all about her disbelief that it wasn't busier, but she was--testifying to--the greatness of that Big Biscuit! I had to tune her out on the way home to stop hearing her rave about that Biscuit, lol. We love food. If you do too, see ya there!

Arguably, the Honolulu should be chicken instead of beef in order to have the "correct" flavor profile, but the fried eggs on my sandwich were bomb, and I only had slightly too much cheese (as if that's a bad thing). If you come in to sit down, you can tell that the restaurant's personality is on full display. It's one that will likely ward off those with a political opposition, but as a moderate guy, I found it funny, if only a bit excessive. Having family in the area, It definitely screams local Idaho Falls. Maybe scaling back on jokes that are dated to 2020 and balancing out the toppings and flavor profiles would bump this up to a five star, but as far as a delicious, gigantic portion, this is the greasy spoon you are looking for. Easily a must try for any blue collar worker in the area.
