Evidently I was one of the luckier patients, that I got a weeks notice his office would be closing,…read moreso I was able to get my records. As I understand, he gave only 2 weeks notice to his staff, that he was retiring. If it wasn't for a health reason, then I find it very unethical way to end his career. Fortunately, I had a new Dr. on my radar, since Dr. Weiner's bed side manor was so poor! Therefore, I was able to get a new appt setup ASAP. This has worked in my favor, as the new Dr. is compassionate, and knowledgable of the newer medications, which has given me my life back.

I only visited Dr. Weiner once, so maybe he was having a bad day. Either way I could not take the…read morechance at continued care under this doctor. I had to wait 4 weeks to get in to see him for a new patient overall exam. He diagnosed me with a disease I was not familiar with, took no time to explain what such prognosis meant, or what to expect. What he did tell me however was that I would NEVER get better, and that the meds he prescribed would hopefully keep things from getting worse. After 3 months on his regime I gave up, since the side effects were worse than the disease itself. I got better - without the meds. Dr. Weiner, as per the plaques in his office, is a renowned rheumatologist. However his bedside manner and rushed attitude make it difficult, especially when dealing with chronic illnesses. He may be a good fit for someone more advanced in their disease and prepared for the ups and downs. I was not, and hoped that a overall exam would last more than 10 mins. Very disappointed and makes me weary of doctors in general who just seem to grind out prescription after prescription.

It was a very basic thing to do and my girlfriend who works in medical coding heard they didn't order the test and she was flabbergasted. Result was I ended up in the emergency room a week later with a life threatening problem and spent four days in the hospital. ER doctors almost had me flown to San Francisco. Another time I had a grumpy doctor who had to fit me into his schedule due to the front office insisting I had to make a same day appointment for getting a cast. The doctor didn't believe me and said "I don't see why you people come here I guess you just want to save money". He then proceeded to wrap my arm ignoring the recommendation of the ER doctor and twisted my arm repeatedly. He used the wrong tape the first attempt, forgot the sock the second attempt. His demeanor softened the third time and he decided if he did the wrap differently I would be in less pain. It felt like I was being intentionally tortured. He later apologized for delaying getting my records to the specialist. I ended up in surgery after the bone had started to heal. There is more but this is getting long. Humboldt County has a provider shortage and I have been unable to find another each time I try. Getting through to the office during business hours with an urgent question is nearly impossible, and expect to wait at least two days before the team gets your question to the provider. Includes very high fever and trying to get a refill on a life critical prescription. I really wish I had an alternative.

I appreciate that currently the staff is allowing folks who wish to wait outside or sit in the hallways can do so, in limited amounts of course. Currently, any doctors appointments are done via zoom or via phone. For the most part, those phone doctor appointments used to intimidate me. But after doing a couple of doctor appointments via phone I have felt like I have been able to take as much time as I needed during the appointments and I did not feel rushed discussing concerns with my doctor. As far as the my chart app goes I definitely feel like it's come along way since it was first develop now you can make appointments virtually, sent any questions and concerns, for the first time after Covid I was able to show proof that my TB test was negative and much more. More recently I came to the clinic to have a gynecologist appointment. The doctor Tara Moss was so patient, calming and respectful.

He was the only urologist willing to accept CMSP within a 300 mile radius (which was the only…read morehealth coverage I had at the time). I was glad that he was gracious enough to accept it, and also found him to have a fairly pleasant "bedside manner". However, I had 3 issues with him. The first issue is that he seems to have a limited knowledge of interstitial cystitis (and it would also cause me to wonder about his expertise in other areas of urology as well). Even though he has years of experience in the field, he seems to be pretty rigid on things and lacks any interest or info on current research (ie. old school). My second issue was that he discussed hardly any treatment options with me, and seemed married to the same treatment (thus offering me little hope). He ultimately seemed unwilling to talk too in depth with me at all (no eye contact either, which is a pet peeve of mine. My input was quickly dismissed too). My last issue with him was that when I attempted to go back to him after some months because I was desperate for some type of pain/disease management he refused to treat me any longer because he had changed his mind about accepting my CMSP coverage. I was advised to return when I had better coverage (ie. individual/private healthcare). I was refused even though I let him know that I was in a great amount of pain and discomfort. I was truly disappointed. It's difficult to find a doctor who doesn't view you as a dollar sign. I was hoping Dr. Davis would be different, unfortunately that wasn't the case. Just a word of caution to any new patients. (On a brighter note, however, at least his staff is very friendly.)
