I learned about this place from a colleague and was completely unprepared the first time I went. I…read morewent on a Saturday morning and the line was already about 20+ people long when I arrived. We waited for about two hours, but it was well worth it. The prices are unbelievable. Surprisingly there were no unbearable odors and the staff was pretty fast. I realized what took so long is customers not having an idea of what they wanted and those who also wanted to bargain. The first two times I went I spent about $100 total. Each time the meat lasted our family of three at least three months. We were literally spending a couple of hundred dollars a month at the chain supermarkets. My colleague also has a family of three and she goes every 6 to 7 months. To make your experience better there are a few things you should do. 1) Make sure you have a thick jacket because its very cold and you can be standing inside for some time waiting for others to put in their orders. 2) Have an idea of what meats you want and how much you want. 3) Go on a weekday if you don't want to have to wait in line for hours. If you're someone who likes to have your hand held and your a customer who needs to be coddled through the purchase process, do the rest of us a favor and stay at the local supermarket. This is a fast-paced environment and the staff doesn't have time to stroke your ego as they have so many people to take care of in a short amount of time.

But last week when I asked for a beef tenderloin, they handed me a vacuum sealed cylinder shaped package from a different vendor. They charged me well over $12 a pound and when I saw what I was getting, I happily thought I was getting the center cut. But when I got it home and opened the package, it was just several butt pieces with a lot of silver skin and thick sinew running through each piece. I'm sure these were pieces that would otherwise be discarded. After an hour of cleaning out the silver skin and sinew, discarding over a pound, all I was left with was pieces, not a single one big enough to cook as a steak. Fooled me once, but they will not fool me again. I am never going back.

We were in the area for a soccer tournament and wanted to grab a quick lunch and there is virtually nothing else around. Calling this setup a "deli" is a stretch, the meats are all thickly, pre-sliced and you can only get a roll. That's right, folks. Four whole dollars. And I couldn't even finish it all. I saved half of it for lunch the next day - essentially costing me $2 for two delicious, hearty lunches.
