Amanda has helped me train my 12 year old Quarter Horse from his age of 5. He is now an amazing Hunter and Trail horse; just what I wanted. He has had challenges that we have worked through and now he is one the best horses I have ever owned. I also LOVE Oak Park. My horse is very happy there. Everyone who rides there is nice and are happy people. We support one another. A big plus: sandy trails so right after a rain it's great footing.

Trainer Aleta Camacho has been an amazing coach for my daughter and me, and our lessons have quickly become the highlight of our week. With decades of experience in both Western and English disciplines, we have learned so much from Aleta and truly enjoyed each and every lesson. As a parent, I appreciate her patience and expertise, always putting safety first and encouraging young riders to consistently improve and be good partners for the horses. Love having my horses out at Varian Equestrian Center! You truly can choose what you need and they…read morehave it on site! I have a mare recovering from surgery and they have a spacious outdoor stall for her while she recovers and if she needs to move indoors they have that option as well! My younger mare is living her best life in a pasture with other mares enjoying friends and freedom. The arena and facilities are well maintained and if you ever need help with your horses they have multiple training options on site for both horse and human. I have been lucky enough to have my younger mare do ground training with Mike in 2024 and learn everything she needed to be successful when she was started under saddle. Mike is also her favorite human, he is kind, fair, and incredibly knowledgeable! When it came time for her to start under saddle I knew Jaime would continue that work and he has giving my young one a solid foundation to grow from! She is confident on the trails (which they have onsite!!) and in the arena and is sensitive but not reactive, more than I could have ever dreamed about in a green broke horse. I fell in love with the facility and people while my younger mare was there for training and moved both of mine out full time. Kristy and the barn staff are so friendly and attentive to the horses, I can truly rest easy knowing they are both in good hands. So happy to have VEC as my new home barn!

We are very disappointed with our experience and ultimately decided to leave this program due to…read morethe owner's unwillingness to be flexible or work with long‑time customers. Our daughter enjoyed her riding lessons and appreciated the instruction she received. Unfortunately, the customer service side of the business was a completely different experience. We paid for a monthly lesson package and, due to the busy nature of summer schedules with camps, vacations, family commitments, and other activities, were unable to use all of the lessons within the month. We later learned that only a limited number of unused lessons could be carried forward, resulting in one lesson that we had already paid for being forfeited. What was especially frustrating was that we never received any reminder, warning, or notification that a lesson needed to be scheduled before it expired. There was no email, text, or message saying, "You have an unused lesson that must be used by a certain date." Had we received any notice at all, this situation could have been avoided. This wasn't the first time we encountered rigid policy enforcement. Earlier in the year, our daughter's school announced a last‑minute event that conflicted with her riding lesson. We reached out immediately, but because the message was seen one hour past the 24‑hour cancellation window, we were told the lesson would be forfeited -- despite the fact that the calendar had multiple openings that day. Missing the deadline by a single hour, due only to the message not being read in time, resulted in the same inflexible "no exceptions" stance. It was a clear example of how strictly and mechanically policies are applied, even when a simple accommodation would have solved the issue. Most recently, when we attempted to cancel our membership before the next billing cycle, we were told that doing so would not only forfeit the one unused July lesson, but also the remaining two July make‑up lessons -- meaning we would lose all of the lessons we had already paid for that month. In other words, canceling before renewal meant forfeiting the entire month's paid lessons, with no option to make them up and no willingness to offer any reasonable solution. We essentially paid for July in full and were told that every lesson would be forfeited if we chose not to renew for August. When we reached out hoping to find a reasonable solution, there was again no flexibility whatsoever. Rather than working with us to accommodate lessons that had already been paid for, the response was simply that the policy would be enforced as written. We understand that businesses need policies, but we also believe good businesses know when to exercise discretion and prioritize customer relationships. In our case, we felt undervalued as customers and were disappointed by the lack of willingness to find a fair resolution. If you are considering this program, make sure you thoroughly understand all membership policies and expiration rules beforehand, as exceptions do not appear to be made even in reasonable circumstances. We wish the program well, but we have chosen to take our business elsewhere. Additionally, after sharing our honest experience on the business's Facebook page, the owner removed public access to the reviews section and blocked us from posting, which prevents other customers from seeing feedback that had previously been visible.
