They tag-teamed while on the phone with me to try all the options available, and eventually found him. Also, two members of a community help organization (can't remember the exact group name) kindly offered suggestions. And altho they may not see this review, my heart goes out to three lovely street folks who gave me hope that I'd find my relative.

Usually I go in because I need to file or get copies of paperwork, or maybe have a fix it ticket signed off. They don't really seem set up to help you in person anymore. There doesn't seem to be a way to park nearby if you need a fix it ticket signed off (all the former parking is now tow away zones and there is no visitor parking in the lot.) I guess that is a reflection of the times. It seems they are now expecting you to do everything online. I would actually have gone for the online option except I couldn't really wait a week or more for the copy of the report I needed. Discussion with the person who answered the phone was a little tough but I did eventually get the info I needed...and had to drive over to Mission Bay to get the paperwork I needed. Too bad they have streamlined/compartmentalized or whatever and are no longer able to hit the print button at the Mission station. I'm sure someone views this as progress. I'm not so sure I do.

Another time, we heard extremely loud banging on the door while we were in our old apartment on Gough & Sac. It was followed by a booming voice saying, "SFPD!" Gotta say, I had no idea what to expect. In the minute it took for us to get out of the shower, I racked my brain thinking about WHAT I could've possibly done. Did cops suddenly start making house visits for jaywalking?! It was 2AM and the street was empty when I crossed it! My husband opened the door to discover that an identified car/driver had hit our car, pushing it into the middle of the street. The cops were there to give us a chance to avoid being towed. Can you imagine how awful it would be to have to deal with THAT in addition to the hit and run.... (one of two incidents of a hit-and-run in a 2 year period, btw.) We never found out who was responsible, which is a bit surprising considering we were parked right by Lafayette Park and it was only 7pm or so. I guess I wouldn't have been able to take note of someone's license plate that quickly, either. Nonetheless, it was nice of the cops to help us prevent being towed.

Worst response time ever not even worth calling the police anymore. 5 hour response time.read more

Cherniss and his partner (good guys) to discuss issues I had with SFPD, I came away with better understanding of what they do and how they do it. Wow. The fact that these men and women choose to be here (yeah. SFPD officers choose what district they work in) is something we should all be grateful for. If you think the TL is utter chaos now, imagine what would happen if these handful of people werent here. And it is unfortunately just a handful. You can thank the mayors office for that. Before you really get down on SFPD, go to the station and meet with the Captain. Go look at the duty board, particularly the injured list. These people are literally breaking their backs for you. Im still not a fan of the motorcycle cop that parked his bike in the middle of the cross walk while he ate at little henrys. Only a real asshole or moron would do something like that.

San Francisco Police Department - I left the Nintendo GRAND OPENING BECAUSE HALL WAS THE BIGGEST JERK OF ALL. No question is "dumb."

At the time, I was very sick--dealing with severe dehydration, malnutrition, and confusion. I wasn't in a state where I could fully understand what was happening or advocate for myself. I was weak, disoriented, and truly vulnerable. Instead of overlooking me or moving on, the officers who responded took the time to recognize that I needed real help. They didn't treat me like a problem--they treated me like a person. They stepped up, stayed present, and made sure I got to the hospital safely. That decision made all the difference. In a moment where I could have easily been left behind or misunderstood, they chose compassion. They chose to act. Because of that, I received the medical care I desperately needed, and I am now on the road to recovery. There's something incredibly powerful about being seen and helped when you cannot help yourself. I will never forget that. Their kindness, patience, and willingness to go the extra mile truly meant the world to me.

Egotistical napoleon syndrome at its finest. THE question was: are cars coming through. He essentially said what do you think and commented that that was a dumb question. I expressed how this was a perfect opportunity to improve SFPD's public perception but why was it necessary to be rude and incomprehensibly inconsiderate. I mentioned he could be sweeter. But he said he's basically already awesome. Good for you Hall. Just trying to help law enforcement. I get the same lip service at home. And you all wonder why people HATE COPS. Hmmmm? Is it rocket science. Still hiring? Short rosters because of attitudes like Hall's. Good luck filling your rosters and improving your perception.

With shelter in place still in effect, my family fell victim to a hit and run accident several weeks before my visit to this station to file a police report. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the damage was only to my dad's old car that was parked in front of the house. I tried to file a report online, but, with shelter in place, the policy is that I file a report at any police station. Since most of my work is in the downtown and Chinatown area, I stopped in on a June weekday afternoon here. No one else was in the waiting area so I walked up to the windowed counter and explained my situation. Officer Pacchetti helped me start the form, writing down details as I dictated the information to her. For the personal information portion, she brought the form out on a clipboard and handed it to me to complete and sign. Once done, I walked to the window and returned it to her. She gave me her email address so that I could share photos from the accident as well as a video from our security monitor. Before getting a receipt from her, I noticed a display case and a few shirts that were for sale. Knowing several friends who also grew up in the neighborhood, I bought a couple of shirts as gifts (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/sfpd-central-district-police-station-san-francisco?select=OucyhFC7BOgD4D02KePxgg).
