I love stopping into SF Supermarket when I'm looking for ingredients that are harder to find at regular grocery stores. One of my favorite things to pick up here is the fresh water chestnuts -- they're crisp, fresh, and such a difference compared to canned. They also have a great variety of mochi ice cream flavors, which is always fun to browse, and I've been able to find tobiko here as well without any trouble. The selection overall is impressive, especially if you're cooking or want specialty items you won't see everywhere else. The store is well stocked, and it's easy to spend time exploring because there's so much variety. It's one of those places where I usually leave with something I didn't plan on buying -- in a good way. If you're looking for unique ingredients or a wider selection than typical grocery stores, this is definitely worth a visit. read more

This review is for the watch repair man at the jewelry counter inside SF. Who knew you could get fresh (live) seafood, roasted duck, all your Asian groceries, AND get your watch fixed (new battery) for $7! Thank you to Alex T for the tip! The guy was fast too. By the time were done browsing the display cases of beaded bracelets, jade pendants, and fancy jewelry, he was done! We came one other time, but he wasn't there, so not sure of the hours of operation. We'll have to see how long the battery lasts, but until then, service was 5 stars. read more

They have a good selection of fruits and vegetables but that's about the only good thing im going to say because they dont deserve good reviews. The meat and fish section is a joke. The workers just ignore you and will attend other customers who speak their language. Its complete chaos especially if you want fried fish. You stand there like an idiot while people are fighting on who was there first. Also the bathrooms are dirty and the hot Chinese food they got looks hot but when you eat it it's lukewarm. Its a joke. Get a ticket system or something for the meat and fish section for god's sake. I would not recommend this place until they get their meat section or cleanliness sorted out. read more

I'll tell you what, don't come here on a weekend mid day and expect to find easy parking. Ton's of people here, so I had to park a fair distance out. I'm here to check out this Yum Cha hot deli and dim sum place inside the SF Supermarket. SF stands for Shun Fat ... not San Francisco! Just in case you were wondering. It's very similar to a 99 Ranch, but has more of a Vietnamese following, as the signs around the store are posted in that language instead of Chinese like 99 Ranch. I don't think Cantonese would work here. It's a big store and has a large live seafood section in the back as well as a produce section. I was gonna check out the snacks, but the place was so crowded, I just decided to go to the dim sum cafe in the front of the store. It's called Yum Cha Cafe and they have all the normal Chinese BBQ meats, like BBQ pork, roasted crispy skinned pork and roast ducks. Stopped by here since my friend needed some booze for gifts. I told him to go somewhere else since I don't think they have good prices for liquor. I saw the prices and I knew they were high but he didn't care and we walked out with 600 bucks of liquor. I of course had to get some lotto tickets while we were there. Hopefully I win. The liquor counter is separate from the regular registers. W were helped out right away so no big wait. That was nice. They have clear plastic bags that they put the liquor in. The produce is fresh, and I appreciate the variety of vegetables and fruits available here. They offer everything from jackfruit, rambutans, and durian to fresh peaches. I enjoy cooking, and whenever I feel like preparing Vietnamese food for my family, I stop by one of the Asian markets. I especially love the mint, Vietnamese coriander and culantro. They have bathrooms. They're decent. Lines are somewhat long during rush hours, but bearable. It goes by fast. Returns/exchanges/customer care transactions are done in the lotto/liquor line. I gotta remind myself they offer deep fried fish services. Fried tilapia are my family favorite. They have crab paste! Hard to find at some Asian stores! Coconut drinks by the case has gone up. They're a good $40 a case now. Store is relatively clean and organized. Signs in the aisles are pretty accurate. read more

It's been a while with the whole covid situation. However, this for years has been my go to spot when it's live Dungeness crab in season. Of all the live seafood purveyors in little Saigon I find this one to have the best kept live seafood including freshness of not only the food but the various tank and displays. The variety in compare to other stores is exceptional. The often found language barrier doesn't seem awkward here as the employees make the extra effort for those like me who are not remotely fluent in Vietnamese. They are in a hurry when the lines are long but seem to be far more relaxed and engaging when there's no line. They usually allow me to select the crab or at least show me their selection before it's placed in the bag for transporting it home. In all the times I've been buying here I have never had a bad crab. I prefer to steam and clean them myself and enjoy them while still warm with some delicious Baguettes from across the street. Their prices are on par and it's rare that I find them less expensive elsewhere and it often that I find other stores have them at a higher price. The craving for a crab is present now but I know the local catch will not be available until mid November. They often have crab from Washington and up to Alaska but the price creeps up substantially when the supply is less plentiful and has to come a furthers distance. Was happy they started to indicate the origin of their product in recent years. read more

It's nice that the newest SF opened up in Stockton on March Ln awhile back. This SF in Sacramento appeared quite old, out-dated, and kind of dirty (not just the interior structure but, more importantly, the food packages and all). Liked that they have the hot food deli dim sum area in the front lobby as that of 99 Ranch, but unfortunately some of the hot food such as Roast Pork or Roast Duck look so dry, old, and unappealing. Overall the place is a bit crowded and mostly unorganized aisle to aisle. I had to buy a few items since already there visiting Sacramento. Can't believe waited in line 20-30 minutes just to pay for 5 items! They have 10 open check-stands, none of which was set aside for "Express check-out 10 items or less", etc. Not fair for me or others standing there (with less than 10 items) behind those with a cart load of items (taking all day to check out). They need to set aside 1-2 lanes ready just for Express check-outs when needed. read more

They were extremely busy. Good cashier service. Lots of lines opened. However their fish and seafood department could use a little help. I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to help and was ignored several times with eye contact. I finally waved to the man standing there waiting for the fish to fry for some assistance- he chuckled and laughed and told me to, "Go home". Lol I couldn't help but to laugh it off and just said forget this. There are plenty of other Asian stores on the strip of Stockton Blvd that would very much appreciate my business. I left and bought my Dungeness crab and fish else where which took me 5 mins in and out of the store of WingWa. Seafood same price anyways. The gift stand has great affordable cheap professional battery watch change. I like bringing my cheap watches to get the battery change because it's quick and fast. . This SF Supermarket at Stockton Blvd and 65th Street is the first SF Supermarket in Sacramento. I remember it was a big deal when they opened this store in Sacramento many years ago. The store still looks clean and well organized even it is showing the ages! I can find almost all the oriental groceries in this market, and the prices are very reasonable compared to the other stores in the area. The meat and fish departments are enormous, with many choices of meats and seafood available. However, sometimes it smells horrible on some of the hot summer days. The parking lot is enormous and shared with many businesses in the shopping center. Finding a parking space is not easy on the weekend. Also, the parking lot doesn't look very clean, and I'm a little concerned about safety after sunset in the winter. read more

I absolutely love coming here!! It's my go-to place to get treats for my son!! Everything that's tending right now you can find here!! I love the variety and assortment of items they have!! I find so many delicious things that I didn't know I needed!! My current fixation is the coconut cream bun..... oh my god delicious!! The reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because it's really hard to get someone to help you. I don't see a lot of attorneys throughout the store that aren't at the registers so it's a bit hard to communicate what it is I'm trying to find or have a question for when I can't show them because they are busy with checking people out. CUSTOMERS BEWARE! These Asian markets are scamming people now. They are adding hidden charges to your grocerys. Ive heard it's been happening around the south Sacramento area but this one happen to me at sf market on 65th street. They charged me an extra 79.99 for grocery tax and when I got in my car I notice it. I went back in and went to the manager. I showed him my receipt and the first thing he did was look right at the clerk that rang me up and she nodded her head. Then instead of refunding my money back on my card , they wanted to give me a gift card which they wanted to write 79.99 on a plain piece of paper. I said hell no, give me back in cash then. (Durian review here, scroll down below) If you're judging the place based on cleanliness rather than the place itself, go to 99 Ranch. This supermarket deserves more for its worth than to be harshly criticized for just their interior condition and looks. It's an old building, but there's nothing we can do but get what we need and leave. And yeah, the parking lot sucks with a whole bunch of customers that doesn't know how to park, but is that really the market's fault? Essentially they have everything in stock, fresh if you come in on the right days, and most of all, they have everything according to season. I only ever come here for fruits. They are known for having the freshest stock of fruits. I go to another market for fish and meat, however. From mooncakes(in season), to spicy Samyang noodles, to humongous jackfruits, fresh rambutan, and racks and racks of Thai bananas, you would never leave empty-handed here. Although they don't sell fresh silk chicken here, only the frozen ones. Then here's my explicit review on their DURIAN. They have the most delicious Thailand Monthong durian I've ever had! (They do not sell fresh Malaysian Musang King). But they have FRESH DURIAN in stock every season! A LOT of ppl go home with a durian after picking one that isn't ripe yet, and then blame SF supermarket for not selling ripe ones. Don't blame the market for selling something you had no clue of telling if it's ripe or not, SMH. If you want to eat it the same day, look for ones with the strongest scent, with green spikes but brown tips. If it's mostly brown with no green, that's a HARD PASS. But if you want to wait a few days to eat it, pick one that has the most green spikes, with little to no scent. But it would be heavier though. Durian is lighter when it is ripe. A foolproof way to know if it's ripe is if it has a crack in it. If the crack is small, you got to wait for it to get bigger naturally(it will show the fruit). You HAVE to wait for the durian to naturally split open, that's how you know it's ripe. It'll eventually split in 4-5 sections(it varies) down the middle and that's when you want to open it. If it's not splitting naturally, then open it with a knife. But if you're struggling with a knife, then you know it's not ready. It's ready when you open it by breaking it apart at the seams of the fruit with only your bare hands/gloves(because it rips open easily when it's ripe), and then pop off the seeds by shaking it out so you don't easily dent the fruit. Shaking it is not plausible at the market, unless you brought gloves. But if you hear a knocking noise by shaking it, it's ripe too. If not, it's not ready. If it sounds squishy, it's too ripe. A foolproof guide in picking the best durian is hidden in a supermarket's review? Why yes, so ppl don't waste their time spending $50+ on an unripe one and opening it way too early, then blame it on the supermarket. On each durian, there's a quality guarantee tag on each stem, so if you get a BAD one, you can email the company listed and they'll most likely follow up with you (either for a refund or replacement). Keep in mind, SF supermarket will not refund you for a rotten/bad durian. Please refrain from buying frozen durian unless you are making a dessert or smoothie out of it. No one likes frozen durian, really. I mean, would you buy a frozen banana? Besides that, I love SF's prices and how easily accessible it is. Customer service is nearly non-existent but it doesn't really matter unless you really don't know what you're getting. read more

They don't speak basic English nor basic training of customer service. You are left there waiting for more than 30minutes until 1 worker from the other end to go to the other end . They're just lucky they have a lot of choices but if any other business some establishment can provide faster better and quality service, this is not a place to be at. **COVID TIMES** When I'm in the area, I stop off at this Asian market place. What stands out is how large this market is on the outside and inside it's full of aisles with a wide selection of products to select from. Overall the aisles looked clean and shelves were organized. For most items, there is a variety of brands to choose from and you could probably spend a good hour shopping here. You can find lots of rare and exotic Asian delicacies (i.e. Durian, mangosteen, herbs and spices, etc.) Plenty of parking outside, but it can get pretty busy in the plaza so spaces can be limited. On my most recent shopping trip here, the checker scanned two bottles of soy sauce that rang up over $3 each, which was odd because the price label displayed $1 something on the shelf. We had the checker come with us to see that the label was printed with the $1 something price to have him rectify the problem. It seemed a bit odd that the system wasn't updated to reflect the correct price listed, but whoever is in charge of this really needs to double check that their prices are entered correctly when they ring up. This could cause a lot of confusion, delay in the check-out line, and unhappy customers having to pay extra for something that was mispriced. Make sure to watch the items being scanned and check your receipt before you leave. It's a lot easier to communicate an issue in person at the time it happens rather than later. read more

Typical Asian grocery store. I can get all my yummy sauces and noodles I need here. They have wonderful selection of gluten friendly items which I appreciate. Produce selection is not as good as I expected. Many things in that section were overpriced and didn't look like good quality. Meat selection was fairly sparse but I do love how many different types of sausages they had available including gluten free lap xiong which I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Definitely will be back since it's the closest Asian supermarket to me. read more

The place was clean but very busy. I waited 10 min in line. There was 6 checkers. I ordered from the hot deli. The food was satisfactory- I ordered from the Dim Sum and 1/2 of pecking duck. Although the duck was delicious, I didn't feel it was meaty. Mostly bones. But, it satisfied my craving. Be careful and check your receipt. We come here every so often. It's your typical Asian food grocer. They carry more of the SouthEast Asian food. But the variety of other Asian foods has broadened since the last time I came, which was several years ago. We found more Japanese and Korean grocery items since the last time we came. My mom needed pork stomach to make a traditional Okinawan soup (Nakami). They have it here along with a vast variety of meats and fresh fish. What I totally forgot about SF Market is that their fish department will clean your fish any way you want and get this....they will fry it for you! Free! No mess in your kitchen! We picked out our fish and gave it to the worker and he gives us a ticket. We picked up our fresh fried fish and it was perfectly fried. Delicious! We walked out with a cart full of groceries for under $200. Not bad if you compare to some other Asian grocers. read more

This location is the best one in the Sacramento area. Best one because it is clean and well organized. Also one of the larger sized locations with plenty of staff throughout the store offering assistance. The only problem with the location is the parking. It is in a very popular shopping center so getting in and out feels like you are going to the mall on 12/24, only it's like this every day! read more

Monday 1/3/2022. It's been awhile since I went to this location. I like to compare prices before I shop. The prices are a little cheaper than Ranch 99 but the service is not up to par. The employees are mainly Vietnamese but they speak english. After I was done shopping, i paid for my groceries. She ask if I need a bag and I said yes. She push the groceries to the corner and put the bag nearby. Even though I paid for the bag, aren't you suppose to bag the items? WTF type of service is that? I am disappointed, I have to give it 2 stars. When you pay for the bag, you are suppose to help the customer put the items inside the bag! I am extremely pissed! read more

I've lived in this area for 21 years. 20 years ago I went to this store. I bought a watermelon. The watermelon taste and smelt like the store FISH. I went back guessing 18 years later because I'm looking for a good chili oil. I walked in and didn't see a cart. I asked the security gaurd, Where are the carts.
