This used to be Kirkwoods Clothing store, a really old fashioned place that sold cheap stuff made out of lycra with diamantes on, which I was often forced to wear to School Parties and such. However, its now changed its image to The Sewing Box, selling curtains, bedding and creative materials.
It does exactly what it says on the, well, box. Curtains are made to measure, although they are usually likely to be of the netted variety, which my mum still sees as classic, and I see as hideous. I can't wait till I get my own place, solely for the purpose of a net curtain and Venetian blind free zone. Bliss.
It's one of these places I have never really noticed existed before, and I suspect its the same for a lot of people. However, it survived the recession, which says a lot for the shop and its ownership. read more
