Eliesha worked on my piece, I had three different small tattoos combined and she managed to sketch it so perfectly. I can't wait to go back and get more work done by her. On the piece I brought in, I had sent the design ideas through and ref pics asking for something like it. But instead of drawing up something I got there and the stencil was just the image I sent and the font was pulled from Dafont.com (they did this in front of me) and then PS was used to try and place it around the images. Which isn't perfect because PS is restricting in regards to how much you can alter an image and still have it looking natural in the body. If I hadn't already paid the non-refundable deposit I would have taken it somewhere else to an artist who would have been open to free handing the font in. Also not a huge fan of the fact that even though ink had dropped out of it and some places were patchy. They wanted a charge for a touch up. If I pay for a tattoo, I pay for the end result. Touch ups should be free is the tattoo itself isn't finished. I feel like you get what you pay for. I'd go back if I saw a original design from the tattooist, but I wouldn't go to them for custom stuff.

All of the artists are often heavily booked, so be sure to phone up to book your consultation. Perhaps you could chance it and walk in during a weekday, but you might be waiting a while. They don't have credit card or EFTPOS facilities here, it's just cash. But there is an ATM down at the corner shop if you forgot to get money out beforehand. I've been to see Lily for 3 tattoos and a touch up and I really love her work. Check out their website for artist galleries, so you can get a feel for their individual styles. The studio is big, bright and unlike other tattoo shops that can look seedy and hide behind closed doors, you can watch the artists at work through the glass shop front. Piercings however, are still done behind the scenes as are the more private placings of tattoos. There are a few talented artists to choose from and their work is well publicised on their Facebook and website pages so picking your artist can be just as hard as picking that perfect tattoo! Prices are average for tattoos with the minimum being $100.00 or $170 per hour but it is best to head in and get a consultation done so they can help you match up with the artist who best suits your needs. The shop is open 7 days a week from 10:00am till late, they do bookings and can also help out walk ins as best as they can, and the gang are happy, helpful and generally pretty cool people! Jesse is an apprentice but I had complete faith in him, especially after meeting him at the shop for my consultation a few weeks back. The shop is rad! It's so clean and cozy. All of the artists are super friendly and seem to love being there. True Love requires a minimum $50 deposit for a tattoo, which you can pay in cash prior to your appointment, or pay thru PayPal! Which was really convenient. The tattoo I wanted was nothing I had seen Jesse do before, but he emailed me a sketch of his idea and I was so stoked it was almost exactly what I pictured. Jesse told me on appointment day, this style of tattoo was his first time ever doing anything like it. I'm absolutely impressed with the whole experience. Once I came to terms with my right to exercise my power to say "actually, that's not quite right yet, sorry", I rocked up for my appointment only to find out that there was absolutely nothing to fear. Pip had done an awesome job in translating my suggestions into exactly the picture I had in my brain. She was as professional as she needed to be, and the remainder of her was hilarious. The pricing was totally reasonable (True Love are cash-only, but there's an ATM at the supermarket around the corner). I look forward to going back to True Love.

They specialise in (in my opinion) real tattoos - an old fashioned style based on the work of Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins. The shop is decorated with loads of drawings (a lot of these pieces are hand drawn by the staff) of snakes, wild cats, eagles, nautical stars, pirate ships and pin-up girls. You can choose a design from the ones available in-house or have something drawn up. Once you're ready to be inked you just sit back, listen to some funky tunes and enjoy the experience.
