Together these items totaled over $107 dollars. THE BAD: While looking at the Switchables, an older, small framed female store associate with black glasses (I think) came up to us and said "May I HELP you?" in a very condescending tone. The reason for the tone was that we wanted to purchase the floor model Hummingbird ornament, and I was simply crouching down and looking in the cabinet below the Switchables display for the proper empty box, so that we would be appropriately charged. I explained to this unfriendly female associate what I was doing, and at that point she simply gave my wife and I a sour disapproving look and then brusquely brushed by us, making physical contact with my wife, and went through a door into a back office. Not once did she acknowledge or apologize for the "bump". If it wasn't for this last part, trust me - I wouldn't necessarily be on here sharing this. But I think that truly crossed the line of good store etiquette. I apologized for helping myself to the lower cabinet to look for the proper box, but in this day and age of ever increasing self-service, I didn't think I was necessarily being out of line. And for the record, my wife and I are middle-aged, decently dressed, middle class people - not your typical problematic customers. THE GOOD: In contrast, we had an EXCELLENT experience with Teysen associate Kelly, who assisted me with the slipper purchase, and encouraged us to go into the gift store to look for additional items in the first place. Kelly is definitely an asset to Teysen's, unlike how I perceive the older employee described above, based on our one encounter with her. EPILOGUE: I submitted this same information to the Teysen staff via their website on 7/16, but as of today 7/25 I have received no response. This post isn't meant to embarrass the store - but to inform them of a situation I'm sure they'd definitely want to know about.

The prices are pretty fair. The prices range from $28 to hundreds of dollars. The photos seem to be mostly Northern Michigan. From Northern Light to a Crane with her baby. From pictures of Pictured Rocks to dew on a flower. I wish I could have purchased a whole bunch of them. The service was laid back and very friendly. Overall 5 stars.

We ask for smaller size but clerk says if we want it for Christmas we have to buy this one as there is no time for small copy in time for Christmas. He offers to prep the gift. We get to checkout and are charged $305.28 for a copy of a photograph. We give every penny to the clerk who neither explains this is purchasing "artwork", nor does he explain the owner has differing refund policies or what they are, nor explains purchasing a Christmas gift before Christmas voids the refund policy because the gift falls outside a window that is not identified as a returnable gift, nor whether a 14 calendar days, or 14 business days, nor if there are exceptions for holidays. But the owner himself today states in writing through social media to guardians that he does have a return policy then changes his opinion later stating failed to meet his changing criteria. I met that criteria as his business was closed for state holiday on Christmas. We returned to the store with the unopened print and witnesses within a couple days of Christmas on 12/29/2021. The clerk wanted to issue a refund but the owner on the phone said no. The owner further refused our request to talk to him on the phone, causing the clerk to be caught between opposing "policies". The clerk then asked to issue an (unwanted) store credit, but the owner said the equipment was broken and said I had to leave the print behind with contact info stating he would get back to us. Instead I went back and retrieved the print after initially leaving it there after realizing they gave me no receipt and no documentation of his agreement over the phone, and now could not trusted leaving the paid for, unopened print behind. Owner contradicted his own staff and his own "policies". At the end of the 12th day, I have a legitimate return today, 12/29/2021. Returned to store after opening on 12/30/2021 and again owner refused to speak to us on the phone. All receipts, timeline and accounting of this wretched experience is truthful. The clerk/owner knew the copy of a photo was a Christmas gift and they wrapped it for that purpose, so why not disclose that the gift bought before the holiday would not be honored as a return in their store's first open days immediately after the holiday? The business deserves the new, unopened print. I deserve a refund. Logan KM Our experience stands in truth. Lisa KM Petoskey, MI

A Must "Bookmark" in Mackinaw City, before or after Pizza!…read more After many annual October Fall visits to Mackinaw City, I was pleased to have visited this Michigan Historical Museum on October 19, 2019. It is located upstairs above the pizza business MaMa Mia's therefore my idea was to walk off my delicious pizza lunch, read and learn about the history in the building of the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge. This museum is phenomenal about the history in the building of the Mackinaw Bridge 1954-1958. When walking upstairs there are walls and walls of photos naming the many dedicated, skilled, talented iron workers. Their used equipment of helmets, work gear, tools and details is emotional too at the same time to see and read. They faced their dangerous jobs daily before, during and after the completion plus a few deaths did occurr throughout the construction. Free Admission Free Movie is played for your history lesson while relaxing in comfortable chairs as well. I wrote down facts and information last year to help my review.. :-) There was 11,000 International Iron Workers, other tradesmen, and engineers that were dedicated, hard working and skilled employees to start the construction ground breaking on May 7, 1954. They all risked their lives daily, weekly and monthly for three years on the job before opening the bridge to traffic on November 1, 1957. (During the construction in the 1950's five men died) The Mackinaw Bridge construction went on into 1958 with 3,500 workers, 895,000 structural and blueprint drawings. They used: 71,300 tons of steel 42,000 miles of cable wire 931,000 tons of concrete 4,851,700 steel rivets 1,016,600 steel bolts and over 90,000,00 dollars The metal structure is one of eight land based survey towers, which were used along with six water based towers. My review plus photos, describes only half of this business. A guest needs to make a trip to Michigan and put on your list of places to visit this "Mackinaw Bridge Museum" for yourself. Then afterwards take a drive over the Mackinaw Bridge to see, feel and understand the history of how the bridge was built. I enjoy it yearly in the Summer or Fall! :-) I will always look forward to visiting this museum when in Mackinaw City, in case I missed a part of the history story. Then to remember, reflect, honor those past brave and talented Iron Workers that dedicated their lives to build The Mighty Mackinaw Bridge!
