I am very disappointed with the staff at this location. I was there today with my two children, a 2 year old and a 12 year old. My 12 year old son loves to go up and down on the elevator, using it as it is intended. He is on the spectrum and has a bit of an obsession with elevators at the moment. The staff was extremely unfriendly towards him, and decided to berate me in front of the other library patrons to educate me on how to look after my children. My son understand the limits very well, he just acts different from other children because he has autism. I thought that in this day and age of understanding, a bit more could be spared for a child with special needs. I repeat: my son was not doing anything dangerous or was he using the facilities outside of their intended use. I have gone through years of training to provide my son the therapy and the support he requires, and I don't need anyone else telling me how to look after my children, especially from a place of ignorance. I give my son reasonable limits and expectations, and hope that this comment can influence the management of a public facility to have more understanding for individuals with disabilities and special needs. read more
