June 2023 - Took a deposit for $4575 to complete a back yard paver patio. Said he would start November 2023. Never started the job. Never followed up. I had to follow up several times. May 2024 - says he can't keep up. I asked for my depsoit back. I have followed up several times. They won't return it. They have essentially stolen my money. Update: The owner has made contact with us and has committed to honoring all of his contracts. I will update it again once the work is complete. We entered into a contract with Steve from Set In Stone on the 27th of June to add an extension to our existing patio (installed by them in 2022). Like others we put 50% down ($4100) as a deposit. Work was expected to start in December 2023 or January 2024. We have not received any contact from Steve or his company since June 29th when we received a copy of the contract. Their phone is no longer accepting calls, they are not returning e-mails or FB Messenger messages, and it appears that their business office has been closed. I am hoping that they will contact me to resolve this issue and I do not have to report them to the State Licensing board and file a claim in Small Claims court. read more

Update to review 10/30/23: Company owner personally came out to fix my lighting issues. This took a couple days to remove all the old wiring, running new wires, making up connections and burying the new wires. Light are now working properly. Some wires near fence line still need revised burying, he plans to do it when his company returns to make corrections to fire pit patio. Owner to provide time for remaining work which is expected withing next 2 months. I have updated his rating on recent work and discussion. I will do an additional review pending next repairs. read more

I paid half down in Jan of 2023 for a patio extension. After 9 months of constant lies about the start date I ended up having to hire another company to complete the work and did not receive my full deposit back. I didn't lose as much as some people but I would not recommend giving this company any money prior to project completion. read more

Steve did a fantastic job installing our new stone sidewalk. He began by advising us on the type of stone and finish design ideas that we never thought of. He was able to remove brick from our finished porch without disturbing the epoxy coating on the porch surface and replacing it with stone matching the sidewalk. His advice to build up the sidewalk to meet the porch was a welcome idea that never occurred to us. And the job was finished to perfection. The installation crew was highly skilled, polite, and accommodating. Definitely recommend Set in Stone. read more

Well here we are joining the band wagon of bad reviews for Set In Stone Hardscape; have been attempting for days now to get a response and apparently his phone is no longer in service. We initially signed a contract back on 10/7/2023 for 11x13 paver patio with a water feature and had the understanding that we were probably looking at the month of February of 2024 for completion. In January he finally responded to an inquiry of start date and collected $4100 for materials due. Long about January 30th we did in fact receive delivery of the water feature and were excited for job to begin soon. Then we were told pavers were delivered to the wrong site. Finally on February 19th our site was reviewed by his subcontractor and work began the following day. They did in fact get the base stone in and drainage adjusted. Piles of dirt were not removed and we have heard nothing from him since. Will begin the process of finding someone to fix this mess soon. We want to use our backyard this season. read more

We contracted with Steve with Set in Stone Hardscapes in September of 2022 for a patio and firepit and were told most likely our job would be done by March or April 2023. Our neighbors had Steve do jobs for them and they turned out beautiful, so we were excited about starting the project. Unfortunately there were a number of delays. However, we have been in direct contact with Steve consistently and he has been very responsive in both phone calls and texts. He recently started our job and I am so excited to see the progress. Steve does beautiful work and seems to be an upstanding businessman, family man and veteran who had a string of unfortunate events happen that put his small business behind schedule. We could have been let out of our contract however based on work that we have seen firsthand by neighbors we knew that when he got to us, it would be quality. We are so far not disappointed with what we have seen and are glad that we have hung in there for as long as we have. Steve has followed through and is following through with what he has promised to deliver. In the end I truly believe the wait will be worth it and am excited to see the finished project. read more
