I found Rapid Response Remediation through yelp projects after my basement sustained a little bit…read moreof flooding with the storm, and I had a hard time getting a hold of anyone (phones hung up on me, long wait lists, price gouger from Chicago). My basement was not nearly as bad as other people's, and I wanted help cleaning and with mold. They got back to me within a couple of days while I was on other companies' waitlists. They could have come out the same evening, but I had them wait until the next day which was more convenient. They came out, provided an estimate. I had questions, and I was able to say what I wanted done (eg. I didn't want the air purification for $1000 since my HVAC system has an air purification system in it that takes care of mold spores or the wall paint to protect from mold for $200 since I am already on a list to have my basement waterproofed in a month, and the walls are going to be dealt with). They were amenable to the changes. They were able to schedule me for the next day and do the work. They provided me with updates of the project. They took out more drywall than anticipated, but that's fine. I'll refinish the basement later. Garrett and Justin were both helpful. I recommend them. They listened, they were prompt, and I feel after talking with others in similar situations, the price was fair. They also did not demand insurance. I paid upfront.

One important quality is that they weren't creating any false sense of urgency. Radon isn't great for health and absolutely should be addressed, but it also wasn't a threat to my health. The installer was professional and also patient with my questions. He fully explained exactly what the system was doing, what it was going to look like, and A couple weeks later, the electrician came through to permanently hook up the mitigation system. He was also professional and very personable, and made sure we had no questions. With the provided follow up test that we just plopped in a usps box, our radon levels dropped from over 9 to less than .9! One thing to keep in mind if you're getting a radon mitigation system installed: you'll have a big ol white tube going up the side of your house And out your roof. For a higher fee (I believe it was 400), you can have them route it out your garage to be inconspicuous. Last thing: we were worried about the fan being loud. I can't hear it at all.
