I've even seen some tombstones almost out on the sidewalk. The surrounding neighborhood is crime ridden and dilapidated and I am sure those germans and other settlers of Milwaukee would be turning in their graves to see how their neighborhoods now look. It's awful. Wish the city leaders would do something and have this historic cemetery contained and maintained.

There are toppled grave stones, no fence, no sense of caring or upkeep for one of Milwaukee's oldest cemeteries. Like the once dilapidated Grants Tomb in New York City, this Lutheran owned cemetery is treated as if it has been abandoned. While the neighborhood is no longer a wealthy German area (as it certainly was in the late 19th century), to leave the graves open to vandals and unfenced seems a dereliction of duty and shows a lack of respect for the many people buried here, and their families.

Maybe set a bottle of hand sanitizer in there too... in case such problems persist. Especially as we enter flu season. A bit frustrating.
