My first impression, as I was walking towards the office, is that it is not professionally, or…read moreotherwise, cleaned. Furthermore, the floors were filthy, and this was on a Monday morning. Moreover, I had joined the savings plan. However, when I was presented with the bill, and I said that I was under the impression that x-rays, etc., were free, I was told that they are 20% off. Online, the plan clearly states that the x-rays and exam are free. Of course, the bill was not itemized. There was also a charge on my bill for work that the doctor said might have to be done in the future!!! This brought the bill up to $4500.00. I quickly stated that I was not having that work done at present, so Natalie deducted it. However, my bill was still a whopping $1600.00 dollars. That was for the exam, x-rays. cleaning, and 2 fillings. As a retired widow on a fixed income, I must say that such a fee is difficult to manage, but I paid the entire balance, rather than have to pay interest over the course of the next few months. Frankly, I would have walked out if I had not lost a filling from a front tooth. There also seemed to be a great deal of confusion. There was only one dentist on my first visit, so I could not have my filling replaced. I was given two appointments for the following day: 9AM cleaning, and 10AM fillings. When the hygienist completed the cleaning, she said, "I see that your fillings will be done at 11. I quickly protested, and that problem was rectified. When I met with the dentist, who obviously had not even glanced at my health history, she asked the same questions I had been asked the day before. She asked if I had any allergies, and if I take any medication and have any health problems. When I answered "no" to the two latter questions, she just stared at me. I repeated my answer, and she continued to stare, and said "Not even blood pressure?" I told her that I am very healthy and take excellent care of myself. Finally, when she was about to start working on me, she stated that the tooth minus the filling wasn't even listed under the work she was supposed to do!!! I said that that tooth was the reason for my visit! It seems that the dental assistant had recorded the wrong tooth!!! When all was done, she just walked out, and rushed to the next patient. I could mention more, but I am sure you can see why I will not be recommending Aspen Dental to my friends -- maybe my enemies!

Due to recessed gums, I needed resin to be placed to fill in the space on two teeth. He filled them in and the color didn't even match my teeth. Thank God the teeth were on the side of my mouth so you really can't see them. Each tooth is now two different colors. With that, he didn't even smooth the resin. He just put the clumps of resin on the teeth and sent me on my way. I had to go to my new dentist and have them smooth it out for me. I heard that some dentists are cheap so they only buy a couple of shades of the resin and they use the one closest to your tooth color. I think all he cares about is making money. Definitely does not care about patients.

But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). I must also admit I am one of the few people who actually likes going to the dentist (probably linked to my grandfather being my first dentist). I haven't had many issues with my teeth, so the majority of my visits are spent with the dental hygienist. I usually get Minna who is very friendly. Dr. Piorkowski usually comes in towards the end of the visit to have a look and he is also pleasant. I still come to the practice even though I haven't lived in Easton for over 7 years. I always manage to work in a visit when I am home for something else. I love coming here and seeing familiar faces. From walking in the door and seeing Margaret (receptionist/office coordinator) to Minna and the other hygienists, they make the trip to the dentist enjoyable. Everyone I have encountered here is very friendly. A truly (and literally for me) neighborhood dentist.
