Yes, it's a Marriott and, yes, it's soulless and Corporate and the bar was deserted but the room was comfortable and well appointed and the staff were friendly without being over-familiar. I couldn't really fault it but, suffice to say, I won't remember a thing about it after a few weeks. Oh and it's a little way from all the action downtown but that shouldn't really put you off. You gets what you pays for.

It is clean and a little on the fancy side, given the recent renovations. The gym is a bit scary n dodgy as it is in a poorly lit thoroughfare to the car park. Their restaurant is average for western prices for dinner. breakfast is great though and they let you make (sneaky) sandwiches for your road trip for the day. free Wifi for first 24hrs. staff at reception come across as rude and frustrated when you turn up to check-in, check-out or ask for help of any sort. Guess I interrupted their nail filing session. Restaurant staff are really nice though. They try very hard to please.

From the moment we walked in, the staff went out of their way to be helpful. They offered to park our car which was really appreciated. After a long day of driving in a different country it was nice to have that one extra task taken off of our hands. We went right up to our room and our luggage followed later. The front desk staff were so helpful in giving us information and directions and making phone calls for us about bus schedules and telling us about other interesting places to go. As for the area this hotel is in, it is a great area for walking and very near all the little bars and restaurants for tapas. The rooms were clean and comfortable. If I were back in Logrono, I would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable.

As for the hotel, the beds were comfortable and the room was a good size for two people. The breakfast offered is expensive and not worth it (it is more of an American breakfast than a Spanish breakfast), so be sure to check out one of the coffee shops in the neighborhood. The WiFi is of a good speed - no AOL 56k dialup as we had experienced on other portions of our journey. But unfortunately, there is no fitness center. For an admittedly more upscale hotel in La Rioja, I am very surprised that there were not more services or amenities offered in conjunction with the various wine producing regions. I would have definitely shelled out extra money if it meant that I could have some sort of organized transportation to the various wineries, rather than having to watch my drinking consumption because we had to drive ourselves.
