Yes, it's a Marriott and, yes, it's soulless and Corporate and the bar was deserted but the room was comfortable and well appointed and the staff were friendly without being over-familiar. I couldn't really fault it but, suffice to say, I won't remember a thing about it after a few weeks. Oh and it's a little way from all the action downtown but that shouldn't really put you off. You gets what you pays for.

It is clean and a little on the fancy side, given the recent renovations. The gym is a bit scary n dodgy as it is in a poorly lit thoroughfare to the car park. Their restaurant is average for western prices for dinner. breakfast is great though and they let you make (sneaky) sandwiches for your road trip for the day. free Wifi for first 24hrs. staff at reception come across as rude and frustrated when you turn up to check-in, check-out or ask for help of any sort. Guess I interrupted their nail filing session. Restaurant staff are really nice though. They try very hard to please.

Mixing extremely old architecture with new interiors, the rooms are spacious, modern, with wonderful beds. Our kind host and hostess provided substantial breakfast foods each morning, excellent coffee, included in the price of the room, and offered laundry service for 15€. They speak English haltingly, but are quite capable of communicating with us. The greatest experience for me was the Los Picayos processional that occurs twice a year in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in May and in September, a unique, ancient religious event that involves penitents flogging themselves. The processional passed down the narrow cobbledstoned streets, right past our hotel. We loved that this little town was so close to an incredibly rich choice of wineries, with many within a 15 minute or less driving time, spectacular views, castles and walled cities. We had a mid sized rental car and negotiating the streets was challenging at best, so beware.

We are staying for a week while exploring La Rioja wine region. Cannot give a higher recommendation for any hotel we have used over decades of travel to Spain. Gayle and I enjoyed a long lunch in a small outdoor Patio area between the Bar area and the Hotel. Also in-between was the Bodega area and for a time a fun bunch of folks whose wine tasting capped their adventurous time underground. We were both sorry that we missed our chance to do that too. We both ordered off the "Menu del Dia" and my oxtail steak was fabulous. Gayle was less impressed with her bland cod (is there any other kind?) and wished that she had ordered off the Menu. The couple at the next table did, and Gayle wanted what they were having! However, our shared bottle of wine was good, the Spanish Flan was delicious (as usual), and my young Bride looked radiant. One of our mutual observations was how cute Spanish children are, how handsome the Parents look, and how much doting was going on. We got our chance with a Toddler who came over to say Hi and a Mother that was loving every minute of it. It's amazing during times like this when our broken Spanish is understood by all.

The name of the town is Laguardia, which used to be a defense post established in the 13th century. Laguardia provides a rich historical backdrop over looking Spanish wine country, which offers spectacular atmosphere and picturesque views. My friend and I stayed at Mayor de Migueloa for a weekend and really enjoyed our stay. It's a family run business with charming decor through out the establishment. The old walls and rustic feel of the place takes you back in time, although the hotel is quite cozy, modern and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and we also noticed the owner works closely with the staff on a daily basis, which probably accounts for the attention to detail. The restaurant was fantastic, and for any wine enthusiast, it's a perfect location to stay and travel in the region. Mayor wine is exceptional and I definitely took some home with me. Overall, we loved this place and enjoyed our visit and highly recommend its charm, service and location!

I got sick while on the Camino pilgrimage and so came here to recover for a few days. Wifi is quite spotty - have had better wifi in albergues/hostels that are 1/10th the price. When I wasn't sleeping, I'd try to be on the internet to watch a movie (I couldn't seem to figure out how to purchase any movies from the TV menu at all which was also a bummer) but couldn't get online many times. They'd reset it but that wouldn't always work. If you're not planning on working from hotel (or stuck in hotel sick like me) and will be out most of the time, then this should be a non-issue for you But rooms are immaculately clean and simple in deco. Love that they have the dark blinds in bedroom which I needed to sleep my flu away. Room service is dinner time only. The gentleman in restaurant was very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast has quite a variety of things to choose from - pastries, fruit, various fresh juices, coffee, tea, cereals, cheeses and breads. €11 for breakfast and around €20 for dinner. Laundry services also available just not same day. I wandered to the back area, near river, and there are so many beautifully quirky art pieces to be found. Apparently one of the owners? Anyway, just fantastic art all around which adds so much personality to the place.

We were equally unimpressed at having to reverse the same course the following morning to rejoin the Camino. However, we got there eventually. A sign at the desk said it would be difficult if not impossible to get a taxi from there so we immediately reconciled ourselves to the prospect of staying in the hotel for dinner as neither of us could face the thought of a 4km round trip trek back into town to eat. The room was comfortable and functional, the twin beds serviceable fitting in with the soulless atmosphere of the place. No real complaints though. The bar was deserted save for a large Asian group of walkers having a pep talk and briefing for the following day. Dinner was, at best, edible, breakfast uninspiring but adequate. We won't be back this way but, if we were, Tximista wouldn't be on the 'must visit' list. A solid 'meh' from me.

We selected this 4-star hotel over the 3-star Sercotel Portales (where we've stayed in the past), because it was a handful of Euros less; its proximity to Calle Laurel; and sadly, the 4-star rating-- although this was the last reason we picked it It was with regret we spent the night here. The first room we were checked-in to reeked of smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. Not necessarily the hotel's fault that someone did that, but why housekeeping didn't inform the front desk is questionable. The room we did get was smoke free, but egad it was old, dreary and worn down. It had two twins pushed together to make one bed (which is not uncommon), and when you sat on it, the mattress sunk in. Handsoap came out of a wall dispenser you had to SQUEEZE like a bottle of mustard, and this was the same for the bath gel in the shower. I was grateful for the shower I took that morning at our other hotel, so I could avoid another dreadful experience at the hotel. The location is great...like I said, for its proximity to Calle Laurel, and within the same pedestrian-ish block are cafes and bars if you don't feel like doing a tapas crawl. I can't say I recommend this place, but if Lorgroño is sold out, and this is the only place available, it's good enough. Just don't expect anything special, quaint or charming about this place.

Be aware that this is one of the busiest streets at night in Logrono, and all windows and doors on the front of the building are single glazed and old. Even on the sixth floor, sleep was a tall order until 4 o'clock when it quietened. To be fair, this was a Saturday night, it may not be so bad during the week, but I would request a rear of building room to be safe. Otherwise a fine hotel.
