My daughter came through mid-year. She fell in love with her teachers. The staff took our vegan diet seriously and respectfully. They worked with us and genuinely want to give families a good experience. There was a field trip a week. There was a gorgeous farm school campus. Now, my daughter was in the Tumwater location but still learned and loved. She would skip into the classroom without turning back to say goodbye to me. I am so grateful for the wonderful experience. My son has been at Sequoias Treehouse since he was 3 month old, he is now 10 months, and our time at Sequoias has been wonderful! I greatly appreciate his teachers, Sandy and Laila. I call them his second and third moms! They both have such a warm command of the room, and I am provided with a detailed sheet every day reporting how much bottle he drank and at what times, also outlines his naps and wet diapers. They have an open door policy in the infant room so I often stop by on my breaks to say hello for a quick baby snuggle. read more

Update: I AM a former parent, not a disgruntled previous employee and the owner is just posting these rebuttals as a way to get negative reviews removed. Her poor bookkeeping isn't my problem (but I DID include an invoice if it helps her memory...) and the public deserves to know about the safety concerns at this facility. -------------- We had our daughter here and pulled her for egregious safety concerns. The review by Kirsten C. I would believe to be 100% accurate as I have previously used her for childcare for years and she is one of the highest caliber humans I know. She is smart, compassionate, loving and funny. She is a child advocate to the core. (This was a comment on a previous one left by an employee that has subsequently been taken down. Unfortunate since it had very accurate criticism, but no doubt criticism Sequoia is unwilling to address in a mature and open way.) Compare that to the care given at Sequoia's which is cold, dangerous and narcissistic. My 4 year old daughter was left unattended around an open fire, taken on I-5 without a car seat and had so many wonderful teachers fired abruptly (probably because they don't obey Sequoia's every command) she started showing attachment issues. The IDEA of this place is great but in reality you are paying for over-priced Lord of the Flies childcare. At one point all of the parents were so concerned we requested a meeting with Sequoia and it was clear she couldn't care less. After we moved our child to a new setting her behavior immediately flourished. It is clear, she does this as a cash cow, not for children. The only people who should be interested in this place is DOH. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

Our daughter attended farm school for two years, ending last summer. Overall, the school and experience were fantastic. Our daughter had a great time in the mud, forest and shelters all year! I often told her that I wanted to be a student there. The teachers were creative, kind and inspired our daughters young mind. We pulled her out of farm school because of a interaction with Sequoia. Over the summer, she had forgotten her water bottle, it was a hot day. I was contacted by the teacher who kindly informed me that we either had to bring her one or they would charge us 15 dollars for a borrow bottle (used to be no charge). Although this was in the contract, I did not read it. I told the teacher that Sequoia should know her policy is expletive-crazy (not the best thing to say, I admit) but they cannot deny access to water to children, especially on a hot day. Water must be available at all time according to state laws governing child care. When we talked to Sequoia about it, she lost it. Lots of screaming at both myself and my partner, lied repeatedly about her policy and access to water and was extremely dismissive of our concern. She repeatedly told us that they had to charge this excessive amount because kids were using little paper cups all over the place and she didn't like that. She insisted that these cups were available to students for no charge. Both my partner and I looked, and asked our daughter, she was never offered a cup and we did not see any. It was a hot day, mid summer. Both my partner and I work with children and cannot fathom a scenario that a child in our care, asks for water and we tell them they either need to pay or make their parents bring it to them. After Sequoias outrageous response, we pulled her and will never put our children in Sequoia's care again. She exercised poor judgment that day and did not put the needs of her students over her own personal wants. She does not deserve to be in the care of others children in my mind. I would not trust her to be honest if something bad were to happen and after this event we could not justify keeping our daughter in her care. Please insist on meeting Sequoia before signing your kids up and see for yourself if you find her trustworthy. Good school, questionable manager/owner read more

When my children attended Sequoia's Treehouse, I was a mama of two: an infant and a two/three year old. Ms. Laila and Ms. Sandy took had such loving and nurturing care for my youngest son. Every morning my little man lit up at seeing Ms. Laila and through the day, I'd get updates of the curriculum Ms. Sandy would engage in with him. The environment overall is lovely. Definitely was an adjustment to go from a traditional corporate site to an outdoor program. Yet was it worth it! Bring on the mud and dirt! My oldest, loved the outdoor experiences from nature walks, immersive outdoor curriculum and farm field trips she was always learning and gaining new enriching experiences. My daughter had Ms. Cynthia as her teacher and later Teacher Colleen and Teacher Ms. Mia. All amazing in their own ways! Plus Ms. Anna was incredibly skilled and developed a strong bong with my daughter due to our later afternoons (Ms. Anna is a closing teacher). The administrative staff is knowledgeable, caring and responsive. Big shout out to Joe!!! His patience is unmatched!!! Overall, my family had a wonderful positive experience at Sequoia's Treehouse. We've been gone for over a year and we still hold it near and dear to our hearts. There's plenty of quality staff, I have missed in my review-- and for that I apologize. Just schedule a your and go meet them yourself! However, be aware it's not your average site due to the outdoor aspect. Yet any day I'd take a bit of dirt to have my children be as happy and engaged as they were at Sequoia's Treehouse. Our son started here in August 2017 and it's been a great experience so far! I was initially drawn to thus school for its focus on outdoor exploration and emergent curriculum. His teachers have been so supportive helping his transition into daycare, even during those rough first weeks. We are now getting ready for him to move up to the one year olds classroom! So far we haven't had issues with communication so I hope this means the issues the previous reviewers talked about are improving. read more

Overall we have been disappointed with our experience at Sequoia's Tree House. As an educator myself, I was initially drawn to the school's concept of immersive learning and the focus on outdoor time. But after our son started it became clear that the management was lacking the necessary skills to run the facility. There were LOTS of staff changes and room changes and curriculum changes and it was pretty stressful for our son. Additionally during this time, the rates continued to go up and up. When summer came, we took our son out for the break and were promised his spot back for the next school year. But when we contacted the owner in August about coming back they said the spot was gone and if we wanted our son to come back we'd have to pay another deposit. Not knowing what else to do we did what was necessary to re-enroll our son. One month later we were told rates were going up to help fund field trips and now two months later we are being told rates are going up again.... It's frustrating because we really like the preschool teacher, but with all this rigmarole it's just not worth it. At this point, we are looking for another childcare situation. read more

I can relate to Jessica's comment. My husband and I toured the daycare in October, 2016 in anticipation of needing daycare for our foster son. We were told by the owner that we were on the waitlist to start in March 2017. When I emailed to confirm In February 2017 I did not receive a response, then I called to follow up and was told I would get a call back to confirm there is room and no call back, so I called three days later and again was told the same thing with no call back, although the owner did mention that they only accepted a limited number of children with DSHS subsidy. This comment was odd because when we toured and were put on the waitlist I asked about whether or not the subsidy for foster children would be an issue and I was told by the owner there wouldn't be a problem. We are very frustrated because it seems like a great learning environment and that the teachers care, and the location is great, but the owner definitely seems to need a lot of help keeping organized. read more

We were very excited that a daycare was opening up right down the street from my daughter's home. My husband and I are very involved grandparents. Our Grandsons were one of the first children to start at Sequoia's. We are very impressed will all the teachers. They have the ability to understand each child's individual needs. The teachers are long term and educated well, unlike other daycare centers. The ratio of students to teacher is wonderful. The activities far exceed our expectations. Both boys love "their School" and the "adventure Bus". read more
