I'm rating Sephora 0/5 for continuing to support Huda Beauty and refusing to remove these products. Silence and inaction are a choice.

Sephora. The three magical syllables that send shivers of delight down the spines of many a modern woman. I've been waiting for many long years for Sephora to open its doors on our sunny shores and at last! It's here! Though it's split over two levels, it's not the biggest store. This combined with the crowds make trying all the testers quite difficult, but it's worth persisting for the brands new to Australia like the amazingly priced Sephora store label, Formula X nail polish, Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs Beauty - sadly no Urban Decay, or at least not that I could find. Prices for Sephora label stuff is pretty damn cheap, similar or cheaper than brands found in supermarket, and the brands found in Myer and DJs are priced the same. Haircare and skincare is upstairs, and it's nice to see two mirrors set up with chairs, GHDs, curlers and hair dryers - they weren't manned when I visited but hopefully they're there so staff can sit you down and help you try some of the products! It may be small but there's so much more to explore and testers to be tried - I'm not done with you yet Sephora! read more

Nope. No. Nyet. Nada. - They went back on their promise to price-match their US stores so fast I got whiplash. Even the basics aren't exactly cheap. - A lot of the stock is quantity, not variety. If you look closely at most stands, they don't have a great selection of products or colours, just A LOT of stock of a handful of products. 90% of what I've seen is also available at numerous stores in Australia; they have discontinued most of their Aus-Exclusive brands. - It's so dirty. Every time I have been in, there have been piles of dirty tissues and wipes on every counter, the mirrors are smeary and stained - it's kind of gross. - Their staff are horrible - half are overworked, half are belligerent twits. Trying to get a straight answer about their stocking of the Best Nailpolish Ever took three visits and an irritated FB message. The staff were totally disinterested in helping me in store, complete with looking over my shoulder, eye-rolling and mumbling 'oh yeah, dunno' to my questions. I get not knowing something, but that's flat out rude and unprofessional. Better training and few more staff members would make all the difference. - The music. I LOVE music. I love pop music, rock music, anything upbeat. But I also like to be able to hear the answer to my questions, and I cannot in Sephora. They just need to chill with the volume. - Having the cash registers upstairs, in such a cluttered, full store has resulted in me not buying stuff, not buying more. I literally do not get this retail theory, which is gaining popularity, because I'm not dragging myself and my shopping all the way upstairs when the ground level is a make-up mosh-pit. TLDR: This doesn't feel like what I was told Sephora would be like. It's not a fun or unique shopping experience and I would strongly recommend Mecca over Sephora. read more

This store is a huge disappointment. First, they've marked up prices, especially on their own company's range of products, a major FAIL considering promises made by parent company LVMH. They've also failed to amend their nonsense returns policy, which is about 65% of the reason why this brand has been a game changer in other markets. If a clerk seeks me some nonsense product out the wrong shade in NYC or LA, I can bring it back and get the correct product. In Sydney, I can consider it money flushed down the toilet. Someone said "that policy can't possibly work in Australia". Umm, why the heck not? I'm meant to be benevolent to a wealthy corporation when they've liberated me of my hard earned money? That policy works elsewhere because a) the company opts not to sell nonsense in general and culls its offerings based on products returned, and b) chooses competent makeup artists and trains them appropriately. Sephora Australia does not wish to hold itself responsible for quality with its ridiculous policy. The staff... Some are good, some are not. You walk in and can instantly separate the stars (count: 2), from those who try ( handful) and those who model their customer service after a blend of Myer makeup staff (zero poops given; gossip and chatter as customers look lost ) crossed with the two cows from 'Pretty Woman'. This shop's sole purpose is now to try on makeup that I will order online. With shipping, it will end up costing me the same, but I can't bring myself to support this f---ery. read more

The excitement of Sephora's arrival in Aust may have been overhyped. Pros: I'm happy that Sephora has opened and there are lots of brands that you can't get anywhere else in Sydney, like MUFE, Cover Fx, Tarte, Nudestix, Gorgeous, Kat von D, Sephora, Skin Inc Cons: - Service is horrible. There have been times where I've asked for a product and the sales assistant has walked off looking for it and never got back to me. Another time I asked some questions about a product and the sales assistant gave short blunt responses and clearly didn't want to talk. There is another one who slams the drawers. When the store is busy, don't expect any service because they are all busy with other customers. - Prices are a lot more expensive than the US, almost double the price there - They are always out of stock of the things I'm looking for! - No registers on the ground floor. Love Sephora in the US, Aussie Sephora has much to be desired. First off $$$$, secondly (as mentioned by others) iv gone in numerous times for basic things like brushes and black eyeliner and they're permanently out of stock. Ive gone in looking for specific items but the girls would turn around and test out a different product on me. (probably because they knew what i wanted was out of stock) This is not what i want. Just tell me where this cleanser is. Don't touch me. A lot of brands that i usually find in a Sephora US are not sold there or instead available online (as i was informed by an attendant) where the things you want are still out of stock. Took my business online thinking it would be easier. Sephora.com.au is actually based in Singapore, shipping takes a about a week. They use Toll Priority as their courier. They're the worst. Things happened, i got the wrong items. There was a lot of back and forth emails. In their first email they wrote back "Hi Diane!" My name is not Diane. They sold out of one of the products while we were bantering. There were a lot of calls to Toll Priority. Where the F**k is my order. Im still waiting. I had one of the worst shopping experiences at this store. I was absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received at this store and the manner in which the security and staff treated me. The store was littered with security guards and undercover police cops who stare you down and watch you closely as if you are doing something suspicious. Every time I picked up a product and looked at it, I could feel myself being eyed by the security guard, who made me feel extremely uncomfortable and objectified. I had staff come up to me from every direction asking "can I help you?" in a suspicious manner, instead of respecting my wishes to be left alone and to shop to by myself, which most shoppers desire. While security is necessary to an extent, excessive security makes customers feel uncomfortable and criminalized. I felt so paranoid even picking up a product and looking at it and was worried security would think I was engaging in suspicious or illegal conduct. Seriously Sephora, if you honestly value your customers who keep your business afloat, do not treat them like criminals. If you are worried about customers stealing, put security tags on your items instead of employing excessive security and undercover cops to spy on your customers. It is psychologically damaging to enter a space where you are watched so closely and stared at by people. I am never ever coming back to this store. Never in my life have I felt so uncomfortable entering a store. Seriously Sephora, get your act together and treat your customers like actual human beings. I am honestly so disgusted and now have the lowest opinion of your store. read more

Terrible service. No staff ever available to assist. Poor stock control. I've been visiting this store almost every 2nd day for the last month waiting for ABH cream contour kits and the Cover Fx contour kits. Still, no stock available after a month. Pretty terrible business model when it takes so long to refresh stock. read more

They prices a US$17 lipstick for over AU$41, and when I complained to their Facebook team, their response was their merchandise team has the right to pricing however the hell they want. Sure! Im so let down by Sephora i love makeup and I love going in their but the girls to me seem to be stuck up and when they see you trying to holler at them to come over and help they run away its so sad :( and its always so packed in there with little girls pushing and snatching stuff out of my hands its so annoying its never a relaxing experience where u can go in take your time swatch foundation colours and lippies and pick what you want you just have to know what your getting and go in and get the heck out otherwise you will be smothered by tween girls pushing their way through the store its terrible .... Second time I've been and i will not try a third just gonna use the website or go to mecca maxima they are nicer and calmer there. I actually ended up going to priceline and finding way more better stuff and its cheaper and not as hectic but could not buy nothing cause i already spent 140$ for 2 things at sephora so bummed out :/ read more

Just had such a bad experience ordering a product online. Visited the website and had a pop-up ad saying that if I downloaded the app I would receive 10% off my next order. So I did that and received a discount code, and used the code on my order. The discount was applied and the price showed the 10% discount all the way through the transaction until I clicked the 'buy now' button and the receipt page showed that the 10% off had disappeared, I was charged full price. I wrote to them right away explaining what happened and asking for them to honour the 10% off. But inexplicably they refused to. I then asked that since they could not honour the price, that they cancel the order all together, but then they just ignored me. The complete lack of customer care / customer service was as bad as I have ever encountered, and the dismissive rudeness was unnecessary. The amount was quite small and was not going create a financial burden, but it was the principle of it that really irked me, and inspired me to chase up the promised discount, but I was flabbergasted to encounter their complete refusal to do anything about it. In fact I thought there may have been a glitch on their website and that informing them would help them out as to not alienate and rip off customers, but that seems to be exactly what they want to do anyway. read more

The appeal of Sephora is that they have brands not available in other stores, but visiting Sephora is a disappointing experience. The store manager has poor communication skills, customer satisfaction doesn't seem to be in their agenda. The consultants are nice but not well informed: they often recommend out of stock products. The shop looks chaotic and cheap. I often opt to buy in store instead of online because I value advice, service and a nice environment: Sephora isn't worth it. read more
