This location is pretty middle-of-the-road. Stock is okay, although they are missing many brands that are exclusive or not available at other competitors, which is a bummer (ex: Pat McGrath Labs). The layout of the store isn't super intuitive. Staff is friendly and plentiful, which is this location's best attribute. I will say, please do NOT buy into a word that their "skincare experts" advise- on a visit yesterday, the (very nice, if terribly informed) person helping us tried to tell my mother with authority that she should not be wearing sunscreen under her foundation or tinted moisturizer. (Lady, if you could not, because I JUST got her to start wearing it after years of buying it for her...) All dermatologists would like a word. Unless you are absolutely caking it on beyond how anyone actually uses foundation, your makeup will not have anywhere near the kind of sun protection coverage that using an actual SPF or SPF moisturizer underneath will provide (layering SPF is great too). If you're worried about how your makeup will sit on top, there are a ton of great options these days that play very well with foundation. Try the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen or the Trader Joe's dupe for it ($8). Please do not listen to the Sephora staff if they try to advise you AGAINST sunscreen. ‍Insane that this needs to be said in 2025. read more

I always have a hard time when I go in there. I think I have to stop shopping there so I've bought their lash serum three times once it was perfectly fine and it was plenty of liquid in it. The second time it only lasted a couple of months and when I took it back, they said you have to return it in 30 days unfortunately it's not showing that it's losing liquid in 30 days. It doesn't happen until a month or two later and you pay 125 for this thing to last six months there's no freaking way it's gonna last for six months. I spoke to the manager. She had long dark hair not helpful at all and I really think that I need to stop shopping there. I'd rather go to Ulta anyway because Ulta, there's a huge parking lot and it's free, they're not gonna get a good review from me I know I'm not the only one who has had this problem. I talked to a girlfriend who said she buys that one too and the one that $65 same brand it's called grande lash MD is supposed to last three months and she said that one doesn't last anywhere near three months and the one that's supposed to last six months which is the one I bought is $125 and last about three months so pissed. I stopped in to pick out a fragrance as a gift for my upcoming birthday. After walking in and scanning the store, I couldn't find anyone to help me, let alone greet me. I headed to the fragrance section, already feeling overwhelmed by the intense fragrances that hit me upon entering the store. After a few minutes of trying to locate the perfume I was searching for. After some time, I was finally able to get an assist but the staff just unapologetically informed that they do not do perfume samples because "we don't have the sample bottles" I'm not sure if they changed their policies or ran out of bottles but if anyone from the store is reading this, it's impossible to shop for fragrances in store w the sticks while surrounded by 100 other scents. I have usually had decent experiences in this store with help from employees. I popped in today mid morning on a Monday which is to say the store was pretty empty. I walked in and three employees were right there and they all ignored me. Okay, maybe they don't greet customers when they come in. No biggie. Well right after I walked in another woman entered the store and was promptly greeted. I found that really odd and couldn't help but feel like they were purposefully ignoring me. I walked by multiple employees who weren't doing anything and not one of them asked if I needed help or was finding what I was looking for. I finally had to find someone to ask about a price on a highlighter because they had covered it up on the display. Once I wandered to the register I was finally asked by a woman if I needed any help but I was honestly kinda ready to just walk out. It does feel awkward walking into Sephora without makeup on and feeling ignored and wondering if it's because you don't have anything on so they deem you somehow unworthy? Finally I get checked out and the woman was very cold to me. It's my birthday in two days and she asked me if I'd like to redeem my gift. I did because I won't be coming back again. Even with that she didn't wish me a happy birthday which seems like basic human decency. Extremely disappointed by how I was treated today and really wish there was an easy survey to leave some sort of feedback. I generally don't leave reviews but I'm really upset by how I was treated today. Love the product lines and variety of products! The San Luis store is still a bit spotty on service, one day it's fabulous, the next no one says hello, but the great make-up makes it all worthwhile. After Tarte stopped making their blusher sticks, I was guided to NARS Orgasm blusher stick last time I visited Sephora and have been getting complements on my "great skin" ever since. It is subtle, and you can pile it on without looking made-up, just looking fabulous. I have long loved the seasonal make-up kits for presents, but have learned to order quickly, as they do run out! This year I hit the Vegas Sephora on their 15% off weekend, and scored some essentials as replacements. Today I cruised all the brands, many of which are new to me, but being able to try them on (just use the back of your hand if you are worried about the hygiene of using samples) makes me able to see if the color really works! I wound up getting a Nars lipstick to match my blush, and look forward to greeting the world with a fresh face! read more

This was the WORST experience I have ever had at any type of establishment. The worker that does makeup was being extremely rude to me and other people in my party waiting to get their makeup including an elderly. I called 2 months in advanced to get an appointment but when I need to adjust the services to include more people I called a month in advance. The person who picked up the phone told me they had no idea how to adjust my reservation but she would make sure she would tell the makeup artist to. I left her my number incase there were any issues but I never got a call so I assumed everything went well. The day of the appointment I called to confirm my appointment and they told me they only had two people on the books and that they did not fix my appointment and it was too late because they scheduled other people. They were very rude about the entire situation and they had initially told me I did not have an appointment at all. NEVER come here for HAIR AND MAKEUP services. The workers are rude and disrespectful and the bill was upwards of $400 for two people just to be treated like this. They had the SECURITY GUARD check out two elderly ladies from my party as if they intended on stealing. The entire interaction seemed targeted since one of the individuals she worked on did not speak english. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Omg I am sooo in trouble with both Lush and Sephora down the street from where I work! I decided to check them out and wound up in front The the Too Faced Sweet Peach makeup. There was a gentleman working their and he was such a great help in finding a makeup match for me. Wound up with the Foundation and loose setting powder. This Sephora has gone above and beyond making sure that everything is disinfected b/w use (as in not only the counter BUT ALSO THE KEYPAD), they help you with samples or shade matching so there isn't all of this contamination on the products. Their customer service is AMAZING! I accidentally left behind a purchased item. They called me personally, and also gave me a goodie bag or my troubles! The sweetest staff! wow. just absolutely wow. I went in for some more of the ordinary products and some info on how to use them. first of all, the girl who helped me was so unbelievably friendly. she showed me some products I was missing out on and brought a co worker over to hear me go through my skin routine. they praised me for asking questions and walking through the steps to help me better my own routine. I have never felt so important in any store. then another lady complemented my bare, self plucked eyebrows and it made me really happy as I was struggling this morning. Sephora will soon find themselves with a discrimination lawsuit if they don't train their staff to treat customers of all cultures the same. I come in here often with my wife and as I spend more time in makeup stores I feel like I am growing an appreciation for what makes one better than another. Now I know this a chain, but they really do a have a good selection. The staff are all friendly and interested in helping, sometimes you get too many of them coming up and asking you you want help in a row while you're just trying to look, which is annoying, but that's a minor issue. They do have a nice selection of men's cologne, which I don't wear but appreciate checking out. The store is well laid out and it's generally easy to find whatever it is we're looking for. I like the well stocked makeup try on stations and that for the most part you can just look around until you find the stuff you need. read more

Horrible customer service. I came in to return two items(one from Christmas and the other one was purchased not long ago) after I was told that I have a one year return policy. I am a VIB beauty insider so I shop at Sephora often. I was told that I can't return either items because they have gone on sale and are out of the system. The girl first said that she can't return it cause it's been a year and it has NOT been a year and then she went to the back to "ask her supervisor" and came back to say that I can't return both items because they're out of the system. Both items are in perfect condition! Probably been used 1-2 times. So, neither of my items were purchased while on sale and they're both under my beauty insider program. And the urban decay lip primer is still in the system because they STILL sell it. After going through the yelp reviews, I am going to make one of two conclusions... 1. This store doesn't honor their return system or 2. I was treated with rudeness because I had no makeup on. If you are going to lie, do the research so you don't look like a hateful idiot. All I asked for ~ for Christmas was a gift certificate from this place! I love their Amazing Grace Body Shampoo. It just smells clean. I hate perfume and can't stand when someone smells strong of anything but this scent is amazing like it's name! It is very faint and I get all kinds of compliments when I just use the soap! I got money instead of a gift certificate which is great! If you are not a mother.... you know how that is.... your gift of money always goes to something for one of your kids or to pay a bill. I was out of Amazing Grace everything and had to run some errands in San Luis so decided to make a stop! Oh my gosh! I drove around and around. It was a Monday so I wasn't thinking it would be that busy but it was. I love just browsing around Sephora and at least getting my $meter;s worth! But by the time I finally found the place (I always forget what end of Higiera Street it's at!) By the time I got there, climbed the stairs and found what I wanted.... I was out of time and had to meet my family for dinner. Any Sephora is 5 stars for me~ They have so much to offer and you can always find a helpful customer service staff. I should subtract a star for how hard it always seems to be to find & the parking which is at least a block away everytime I have been there. After deciding to opt for a makeup tutorial, I attempted to make an appointment for the following day. I was told, by the person on the door "it will cost you $60 bucks to sit in a chair". I said I just want to know about eye make up. To which she responded, that she may be able to give me 15 minutes with someone, but she was the only one in and it would have to be the next day. It was a Sunday afternoon. I said fine and made what I thought was an appointment for 2.00 pm. the next day. When I arrived there was no booking for me. I was told that you do not need to make an appointment for 15 minutes. I was also told that they no longer offer the 45 minute consultation, as they do not have enough staff for that! However if I would wait 20 minutes, for someone to go on their break, they would possibly find someone to give me 15 minutes.... They asked me to wait in the blazing sun, by two seated make up areas. I attempted this, but told them I could not take the heat and that I would be seated further down the store. Finally a nice young lady was assigned to me. When I asked about shades in the window as clearly they were not able to use these areas for the rest of the day, she said "Yes, corporate have been promising these for a long time". We had to sit with dimly lit mirror at the back of the store. It was not explained to me that this so called "$60 bucks to sit in the chair" was applied to any subsequent purchases you might make. I really wanted this time to be special, as my son had just died and I wanted to look good for his Memorial. The reason I stayed and purchased $150 in makeup was because of this reason alone. read more

I hate Sephora. I love Sephora. A monologue: Thousands of beauty products. A shrine to consumerism and a tribute to the search of all things beautiful. Concentrated images and sound on what we think beauty is. Bits of skin care, pigments in powder, ink, oils, gels. Brushes in all shapes and colors. Shining cases of cosmetics. Formulas created by editors of fashion. It is so easy to get lost in the sea of pots and jars and wands. Will it be a cream today? Perhaps a new hair brush? It's incredible how quickly you can find something you didn't know existed yesterday but you will need it tomorrow. They have 3 club levels: beauty insider, VIB and Rouge. I buy and buy and buy. I love shopping Sephora brands since ulta doesn't carry some luxury/prestige items. I went in today and KARISSA a worker, kept hovering over our party and being kind of snooty. She honestly bugs every time I go she definitely gives me the stick up Sephora attitude. It sucks because there are some nice workers like Christina and an older lady that has a Russian accent I can't remember her name.
