I had a great experience today, even with the store being a tornado of activity for the holiday. Greeters stood at the front of the store and walked me to the product shelf I'd asked about. When I sports the shelf was bare, another associate went to the stock room to learn if more were available. No luck! I decided to get in line for a gift card. The line was long but moving. The counter had 4-5 associates checking people out - plus, a few others were coming through the line with card readers to check out customers. While in the line I spotted the eye mask product I was looking for! Exciting!! Plus they were 30% off so I was able to grab a few more at almost the same price. The customer service made a huge difference to my time at Sephora today. A lot of associates were in the store to help, so I hope other customers had a great time today too. read more

Racist experience. An elderly employee, MARY- was asking everyone in line if they were paying with credit card to get them checked out quicker. I was the first to tell her I (a woman of color) was ready with card. She looked me up and down, and continued to ask others in line. It was uncomfortable for me and those around me. Multiple people saw the interaction and one even asked if I was ok. Really upsetting experience as this is the SECOND time I've experienced racism with this specific employee in the past year... this is not what Sephora stands for!! read more

Sephora is a great store but usually always crazy busy on the weekend. (Someone remind me not to go here on Saturday) lol Sometimes things are out of stock but that's to be expected during peak hours. So I needed to get a gift for a friend and I decided to get a perfume from Sephora. I could've walked in and gotten it but instead, I did a mobile pick up order around 5 PM. On my Sephora app it said that it should be ready within one to two hours. So I was waiting until I got the confirmation I kept checking and checking and the status of 1 to 2 hours stayed the same. I know they usually close at 8 PM and it was getting close to that time so I was kind of confused. I decided to call Sephora and ask them what's going on with my order and why it's still not ready to be picked up even though they will be closing soon. The lady on the phone who was sweet, told me that it will definitely not be ready today and I would have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up. She said that the app tricks people because when it gets close to the closing time and you place a pick up order, it will not be ready until the next day. On their end, it tells them that they have an entire other day. That would be a very important detail to note on the app. I would have simply walked in if I would have known that, but instead, I was completely blindsided. By the time that I had asked the lady on the phone, it was already close to closing time. I asked if I walked in. Would they be able to give me my pick up order. She said no you could come in and buy one, but you can't pick it up unless you cancel your normal order and it could take 3 to 5 business days for the money to go back into your card. So now I have to wait until tomorrow morning to pick up an order that they promised was supposed to be done and ready by today at 6. it's completely unacceptable and they need to make that more clear on the app before ordering anything for pick up. read more

I love Sephora's in general and this one is no exception. It is well-lit, clean, has ample samples and items to help you put them on with for a more hygienic experience, plenty of staff willing to help, and best of all tons and tons of great products, some of which will undoubtedly happen to be super deals. The staff are helpful and friendly, without being overbearing (I hate it when you just want to look around for a minute first and a sales associate tries to force their "help" on you, ugh). The first time I went to this particular Sephora was during my birthday month, so I was given a free choice between samples. (The birthday sample choices were great and I could choose between items from Kat von D or Drunk Elephant...Hadn't had a chance to try much Drunk Elephant yet so went for it and LOVE the products I was given). I will definitely be coming here again, both to buy more awesome products and to get some mini-makeovers. I love that Sephora does that too. When the Corona virus madness has stopped and there's less to worry about health-wise, I'm going to make an appointment to get something done. I've had a different Sephora teach me how to do eye make-up and put it on for me and it was fun and nice (and free)! I'm not sure of all that is offered here yet, but I briefly looked over the options and there seems to be quite a bit to choose from. Excited to try it tho! I love learning new make-up tips (I know I'm not the best at putting it in myself) and love someone doing my make-up for me even more! Ha. I was shopping in Sephora at the Oxmoor location on November 11, 2023 at about 5pm. I looked up at the vents over head and they were so dirty that dirt was hanging down from each vent. This is a health hazard not only for the employees but for the customers. There were tons of people in that store and until they clean and sanitize them. I will not return and tell all of my friends who shop there. read more

I needed to come in to the physical store because I wanted to look at some make up colors in person. while a lot of people asked me if I needed help, when I took them up on that help it was truly a terrible experience. The people working at the store i would categorize as rude, judgmental (like how dare you not know any of this), unfriendly and unapproachable. Beware !!! They change the status of VIB even if you have spent the amount required as well as your points are on your account online then next day they are gone only to see them back again . Credit card is the same and it's only automated if you have a fraudulent charge they "investigate " taking 90 days they say but tell you to pay a fraudulent charge . No other credit card company would say that . Also you can't use the rewards with sales and when they have the sales they don't have the products . Wish I could give it a zero star. I am an absolute fan of Sephora. This Louisville location is a stand-alone and the only stand-alone in the Louisville area. There are a couple of smaller Sephora locations in JC Penney's. I shop Sephora's in store and on-line. They have so many goodies for your skin care, makeup, body, hair, perfume, etc. that it can make you nuts and broke if you're not careful. At least I'll be a happy broke nut! lol!! Sephora can be expensive meaning they do sell premiere brands. Many of these brands are reputable and aren't crappy products that don't deliver effectiveness. They also sell lower priced items that deliver good results as well. This Oxmoor Mall location is conveniently located off the expressway and Sephora has a dedicated outdoor entrance (near Macy's). Generally, a sales person is always positioned at this entrance ready to greet and assist. Although Sephora's turn over rate is relatively high, I'd say their staff are pretty knowledgeable about the products. But I'd still be careful on their recommendations for your personal needs and preferences. Ask many questions to ensure their recommendations are on point and what you're looking to achieve with the product. The check-out process is pretty quick. It's not unusual for the line to get very long, especially on the weekends. So be patient and know that they are pretty good at deciding when to add more cashiers and they usually work pretty fast. I do like that Sephora's clientele isn't just the younger generation. It's not uncommon to see customers in their teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s. I think Sephora purposely wanted to market to all age groups and therefore they employ people in these age groups. I normally find this be more true at their stand-alone locations, more so than at JCP. Their online shopping is very easy - easy to navigate. My only complaint is that they allow you to select 3 samples with each online purchase transaction. Often times you get substitute samples (I guess because they ran out of the one you selected), or you don't get samples at all. Their return policy is eazy, breezy. There's been a recent change where returns must be accompanied with a receipt or a record of it if you're a Sephora Beauty Insider. All returns must be made within 60 days to get a refund and must have a proof of purchase (physical receipt or a record of purchase on your Beauty Insider account). Returns outside the 60 days will receive a store credit or exchange. Returns on purchases older than a year will no longer be considered. The stand-alone store will accept returns of JCP purchases only with the JCP physical receipt. I believe the same holds true of purchases made at a stand-alone being returned at a JCP store. read more

This was my first time in this Sephora. I am not a make up wearer, So I do not frequent these types of stores. Walking in the store is well lit and has beautiful rows of all brands of designer make up. My purpose was to find a foundation that would work for my skin, but everything was so shiny and pretty, I was easily sidetracked and wanted to look at more products. I found an employee and explained what I was looking for, they then sent me to their make up desk and immediately sent a makeup artist to assist me. I believe my artist name was Kari. She was extremely friendly and eager to assist me. She made me feel very comfortable and at ease while she measured the different tones on my face, cheek and neck to come up with a foundation color color that would work best for me. I explained to her my preference and the type of coverage I was most comfortable with and she hit the nail on the head. Kari found the correct color that she and I both agreed work best for me. She then applied the foundation all over my face, giving me tips on how to apply it so that I would get my desired look. There are thousands of female veterans who have served our country to give the freedoms we have in this country. I spend on the average 50 to 80 dollars every time I shop there. Thanks Sephora for not recognizing our female veterans. We worked so hard to be acknowledged by the Armed Forces. This is a store that you have to go into dressed up with makeup done to even get a hello from a store employee. I've gone in bare face to try out new foundation launches and I was entirely ignored by the employees. It got so bad one day I went to the Mac counter at Macys to get my makeup done. The kicker is once I went back through Sephora with the Mac makeup on to get to the parking lot, people suddenly wanted to be extra helpful to me. I would avoid this location and just drive to Lexington. They have a better store and more selection than this location. The service is also far better. read more

After supporting this Sephora since they opened, I am now closing that chapter. I have since switched to Sephora inside or JcPenny and I am grateful that I did!! To think I almost never walked in to a Sephora again.. Well, I do need to state that for years.. my experiences were mostly positive. I worked with a girl named Courtney and Michelle, who have since left. I can understand why. The positive faces and constant greetings are not all it seems inside this Sephora. The employees are unhappy and they share this with the guests. So.. returning items as a beauty insider has never been difficult. Until recently. I purchased two lipsticks in a $300 plus purchase two months ago. I paid cash with this order. The lipsticks were the same brand and the neck on each tube were both broken. Even though their system showed I purchased these items in store, it was having a glitch and would not allow them to refund me. They called over a male manager who was sassy unkind and refused to listen to my needs or experience. The register gal next to him even stated that she had the same issue since the systems switched and even that week. Another girl repeated the same. They murmured a solution that was quickly ignored and I was told that it had to be store credit. He also mentioned that I needed a receipt in order to do the refund as I wanted. Let's go backwards.. when you check out at Sephora... The register employees have not updated their speal to match the new exchange policy. It is not mentioned that one must being a receipt to receive a refund. When asked, they say the same deal.. you don't need a receipt. We can look up your beauty insider information. So, as I stood there telling the manager how I was upset and they are misleading customers... He didn't care and provided zero solutions. There was zero empathy for my hard earned time ans money wasted and abused. My experience is longer buy I'm going to shorten it. The pressure I felt to purchase the two lipsticks I was bringing back was ridiculous. They were both matte (what I specifically stated I did not like or want). I should have done a better job at saying no and reminding the helper for the fourth time that I wanted a liquid or creamy lipstick. That was my own fault. But after being ignored for the first three times, I gave up. I thought, what the hell? The girls who use to help me out never led me astray. I should have trusted my guy because bringing those two lipsticks back was hell! Everyone seems to be leaving because they are unhappy. I love all Sephora stores! Most have similar items, although not all stores may carry any specific item you're looking for. If that's the case the staff will typically point you in the right direction, or you can always order a specific item online. The staff is typically very helpful with anything you may need, and you can get samples of anything in the store. I give Sephora a 100% five star rating; however, I haven't had as great of an experience with the staff at this specific Sephora location, so that's my reason for bumping down the rating. For example, I once went into this location to pick up some brow filler. I was new to using the product, so I spoke with a staff member about it. He told me I, "...didn't have the type of eyebrows that could be filled in..." and that he didn't recommend I waste my money buying a brow filler product. - What does that even mean? All eyebrows can be filled in. That's the point of eyebrow filler. He did not seem knowledgeable about the product or makeup application in general. Also, way to try to lose a sale! Overall, I still enjoy this location. It's similar to other Sephora stores I've been in. I definitely recommend Sephora for any makeup/skincare/fragrance needs, because I feel like they have a great selection, good price points, and I love the Beauty Insider rewards points that allow you to get samples and free items. read more

I hadn't stepped into a Sephora for quite a while (years?) and recently decided to stop in while shopping at Oxmoor. The verdict: I like it! On this particular day I was with a friend, and we were looking for skincare "stuff". We're both at the age where our skin shows how we've been living (one night with too little sleep, not enough water one day, and too much sun -- it's written all over) but neither of us wants anything drastic to turn back time. This location is much like other Sephora stores: clean, organized, and fun to browse. There are plenty of places to try on makeup colors if you're looking for something new, and also plenty of sanitation stations, where you can make sure the sample you're trying is swabbed with alcohol. I love trying on new makeup, new germs from other people . . . not so much! The staff at Sephora helped us find something moderately-priced but still effective. We were even able to buy trial sizes to try the products out before committing to the full-size and full-price versions. When I was there, I felt like the employees were helpful, knowledgeable, and not pushy like some other places can be. read more

I am clueless when it comes to makeup, so it always helps when someone who knows what they are talking about can guide me. I have now come to accept that their fancy color-match system doesn't work very well on my brown skin, but again, that is where having an associate test out colors on you goes a long way. Most recently, I went in for a 45 min custom makeover on a Saturday, and Erin was my mua... in the crazy bustle, she took her time to understand what I needed, and gave me exactly the look I wanted. Took a bit more than an hour, so in the future I will plan ahead accordingly... but overall, totally worth it, and would go again the next time I need to feel pretty! read more

Today we were getting our shopping absolutely On so we of course hit Sephora. This one shop is organized and clean although many testers were missing. Some of their colors in the new sought out collections were missing. We were purchasing from the new Fenty collection and really needed help color matching. Although I was intent on purchasing a lot of the new collection, we were offered no help whatsoever. We then proceded to request help and were offered none! There were A LOT of employees hanging out and chit chatting, too many for the amount of shoppers, yet none were doing any type of work, except chilling and talking amongst themselves. I wont blame them entirely. They obviously need more and better training in the art of sales. Their purpose is to get the shopper to buy more, and they could've made me buy a lot more since I came in with the intent of purchasing the whole collection, but all I could think about was leaving. I've not spent time in Sephora before but decided it was time for a make-over. So, I scheduled one at Oxmoor Mall for a Sunday afternoon. Not sure why I chose Sunday because the make-over counter was not packed but the store had a great deal of foot traffic. Children. Strollers. You get the idea. At points hard to concentrate but my make-up person, Kristin, was awesome. She was very knowledgeable about the products and did an excellent job. I was very pleased with the outcome. I did spend over $50 so my make-over was "complimentary". The store is bright and full of different products. It is a little overwhelming. So, I've not purchased every product that we used that day, like blush and lipstick but the foundation is important and I really loved some of the products. I will go back. Just not on a Sunday. Make Over Central! I love Sephoria. I was given the gift of a make-over for Christmas two years ago. I have always been a bit of a Tom Boy and never really picked up on the applying make-up correctly. My first visit consisted of one-on- one attention that was not rushed. My consultant really listed to my wants and style versus trying to make me look trendy or done up. We ended up buying a whole make-up kit since I owned nothing. I got a rewards card that tracks the product I use and gives me points to redeem and try new product. I loved all the free samples that Sephora gives! Over the past two years I have begun to feel really confident about my make-up knowledge and skills. I have gone into Sephora accidentally picked up the wrong shade and was able to exchange it with no hassle, I've been curious about make up trends and the consultants would teach me and let me try out a new look, I have even gotten more assistance in helping vary up my make up style. I think that the customer service at Sephora it what really sells this place, since you can get the same make-up product at other boutiques. I would recommend all the product, service, and selection at this Sephora location. In the past two years my make up product has lasted me 6 months to a year before I ran out and had to replace it with more. You do pay a little extra for the product because of the quality and customer service, but I think it is a reasonable value. I've been a fan of Sephora ever since I was little! Between the hundreds of brands the stores carry, to the friendly staff, there is literally something for everyone in that store! (Including men!!) What's nice about Sephora is that because their employees are trained to know about so many brands, they can give you an honest opinion about what has(n't) worked for them and other clients. They can also help you stay within a certain budget too. Wanna buy a concealer but don't want to spend more than $40? They got you girl! Now that Sephora has that colorIQ thing, it has made finding your foundation shade MUCH easier! I've also use the skinIQ thing to find my current moisturizer that I'm using and absolutely love! The best part about Sephora is that members program. I'm a VIB Rouge (aka I spend $1,000+ a year at Sephora) so I get perks on perks on perks!! Upon entering the store behind another lady who had on a large Gucci purse and Chanel shades on her head, all the employees were quick to greet and smile at her but looked down and away at me when it came to my turn.
