I was invited to an event where I needed to dress up and look good head to toe. I decided to make a makeup appointment booked it online. It was very easy to make the appointment for full service make up artist. The price was reasonable. Everyone said I look great at the event. Hannah did an excellent job. She did my make up before Hannah is very super knowledgeable. She knows her stuff and listens to the customer of what they need. Went in there for my free birthday item of choice. They had three choices. Two of them was about hair. I went with the makeup by Mario lip liner and I think creamy lip stick?? I have yet to try it. I'm only hoping the color is nice when put on.. at least it's free lol. They also have a good selection of perfume there too. Pros- seem to keep good inventory of products and adequate variety Cons- staff are dismissive, unhelpful. If you are able to get help, they pigeon hole you to one brand, & ignore any concerns brought up about the product they are trying to sell you. If I wanted a dry, cakey foundation that didn't match my undertone, I could figure that out myself at the drugstore for $10. Could improve customer service/experience. read more

Staffing seems to be a hit or miss, tonight it was a hit. Everyone was friendly and I got great customer service both on the floor and at the register. Store was pretty well-stocked and the testers were in decent condition. The only thing I never enjoy is how overly saturated the store smells of perfume. Anyway. I am a new to Fresno and I don't know that many people out here besides my co-workers. So when I was preparing for my courthouse wedding, I didn't know any make up artists or hairstylists that I could trust. I also don't use make up ever unless it's a special occasion and there's a MUA available. The day before my wedding, I decided I needed to at least try to look my best and I thought I could get some guidance as to what I would need at Sephora. I approached 3 different staff to ask for help and I was brushed off. I stood around for nearly 30 minutes before a kind staff approached and asked if she could help me. This person gets 5 stars because not only did she help me buy what I needed, she ended up helping me with my make up and hair the day of my wedding. While she was getting me ready, I asked her why it took so long to get service and she let me know that none of the other associates wanted to help me. I don't know if it's because I'm Pacific Islander or because I looked crazy coming into the store after working my 12 hour overnight shift as a psych nurse. Whatever the case may be, it was hurtful to hear that those individuals did not want to provide me service. I will never go back to that store. read more

Just a few days ago I was at the Competitor's store and had to leave a very negative review due to the poorest customer service I've had in a looong time. I won't go to that store again and it is just a few miles from me. I will however frequent the Sephora store from now on. I walked in and was greeted immediately... Two other girls asked if I needed help as well. They asked if I minded waiting as the store was full of clientele... I only waited about 5 minutes. I want to give a shout out to Ozzie who spent a good 15-20 minutes with me trying to find the best light foundation. He was very patient with me and my questions for rationalizations. There was an employee named Jenny Garcia who helped me, not only did she answer all my questions but color match me perfectly, my skin looked sooo flawless I was extremely happy! I stopped in a Sephora to pick up some supplies following my visit to REI. The store was spotless and nicely stocked, which is nice compared to other retail establishments during these strange times. This location felt somewhat smaller than other Sephora stores that I am used too, but definitely nicer and than the Fashion Fair location. All employees were masked and ready to assist. Shout out to Tyler, who provided the best customer service. Occupancy inside the store is limited, and social distancing is practiced. There are strict guidelines which you are given prior to entry as to what you can and cannot touch or open, etc... Customers are required to wear masks and hand sanitizer is readily available. read more

My girlfriend and I had gone into Sephora to buy a few things. As we go to checkout the woman at the register was very unprofessional and looked very irritated. She had told my gf "Give me the basket" at the fact that my girlfriend was getting her phone out of the basket. Once it was time to pay she did yank the money from my hand and apologized very petty. We agreed that the encounterment with this employee was very off. We had gone back in line to because we were confused about a product we bought (the package that comes with a bunch of perfumes and you get the full size one ) we had opened it and saw that some were half ways empty, some were halfway full and and some were completely empty in general ( we mentioned this to to the two employees). So we decided we wanted to return it. We found out at the register that it was finial sale which we were not aware of but the more my girlfriend asked questions the more attitude she had received from two employees at Sephora. I've worked in customer service before and it doesn't hurt to help a customer when they need help without attitude or being rude about it. My gf left the store crying after that encounterment. If you can't help customers when they're asking questions without being rude or give attitude YOU SHOULDN'T work in customer service. We are currently contacting customer support to get a hold of this whole issue and we're just very disappointed.I hope those employees realize the mistakes they'vein this encounter and heal so this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I decided to return a Fenty brand lipstick because when I bought it I was not given enough assistance at the other store and it was just awful looking on me. So on a busy week day evening I breezed by the Sephora store in River Park and I was greeted at the door by an associate named Gabe. He was very knowledgeable and asked me why was I there. I explain to him what I had, what I needed, and what I expected from it. He gave me different options and took me to that aisle. Once I begin to shop he said OK let me know if you need anymore help. I tried on different shades and also decided to buy a mascara. When I had it up to the cashier I seen that there was a gentleman with many questions and Gabe was standing there discussing make up with that person as well. I was in town visiting family and wanted to purchase a new blush. I brought in my favorite cream blush that had been discontinued. In an attempt to color match with a new product, I sought out the help of an associate. When I showed her my current blush she proceeded to take a swatch of it with her BARE fingers. EW! I was dumbfounded and disgusted. I mentioned to her that I still currently use this product and shocked she used her fingers on it. She seemed surprised by my reaction as if this was normal procedure for her. This is a sad example of poor associate training/protocol and not educating employees about health and safety standards...especially in the wake of the pandemic...and especially at a cosmetics retailer. I can't believe how kind everyone was! I've been to this location multiple times and always leave satisfied. The employees are quick to greet you and inform you with any sales right when you walk in. As you shop around, they check on you ensuring you're finding everything alright. I'm not the most experienced when it comes to makeup, but having someone show me their tips and recommendations made me feel confident and ready to experiment! I set up an appointment to have lashes put on for an event. I then purchased an $18 pair of lashes. I had absolutely no make up on. I was advised that eyeliner should be put on before, however, she could not put the eyeliner on?! She then went to ask her "manager" and the manager was standing there with a clipboard and told her no she cannot put eyeliner on me. There were NO other clients waiting, the lady doing the lashes was available, the manager was available AND there were two other employees standing and talking to each other. The consultant told me I could put the eyeliner on myself and then she can put the lashes on? She then gives me a sample eyeliner from one of the stands and it takes me forever to put on a straight line. I even offered to purchase $50 worth of products for the service, but the manager still said that I would then need a separate appointment and they do not have any available nor can I have two appointments?! The manager sucked and was completely rude and unhelpful. The cashier was nice and the beauty consultant that put my lashes on was nice, but the Sephora experience sucked. I go to River Park a lot and tend to go to Sephora to stock up on my makeup. There are employees there to greet you and I'm not particularly bothered that they don't try to assist you because most of the time I don't actually need help/just want to browse since I already have in mind what I want to buy. I tend to go around the entire store and look at everything just in case I find a substitute for the product I'm eyeing. However I do get bothered when they give you a "look" like you don't belong there/make you feel like they think you're gonna steal something. I've been here multiple times since they've opened and have preferred coming here to the Fashion Fair Sephora due to parking. After tonight, I'm not sure how likely it is that I will be returning. Seeing as the products here cost a pretty penny, I like to try samples of the product before I purchase in case I dislike it and have to return it. I always thought that this particular store has been pretty stingy with their sample sizes, but this is ridiculous. I asked for a sample for one of their eye serums and this is the sample I received from one of the staff members. It's a pathetic looking sample. Staff members are polite and helpful if you find the right one, but some staff members here need to be more diligent and provide better service when approached by costumers. I don't usually spend much time in Sephora. I know what I need, and I do my research first so that I know what I want to buy. I browse a little bit, but try to go in prepared so I don't spend 5x as much money as intended. Easier said than done! I've been to this location a few times - it's really convenient for me and hasn't been particularly busy, though I haven't been at peak times. There are usually a lot of staff on hand, they say hello but seem to wait to see if you look like you need help before diving in, which I prefer. When I went in a couple of weekends ago the staff were really friendly. I was greeted twice on the way in. At the till the assistant was all smiles and made small talk and didn't rush me while I considered the points freebies. On the way out, again, two groups of staff bade me a good evening. After seeing some of the other reviews about staff here it seems like maybe they've upped their customer service game. The counters here are usually pretty tidy and there's a good selection of brands. The miniatures at the till always get me, try as I might. I've been pleasantly surprised to find that half-size travel products are often exactly, or less than, half the price of the full-size. Always good to know! read more

I definitely like this location more than the fashion fair location, it's much larger here so it makes for a more comfortable experience. I feel like the employees don't approach you as much here as they do at fashion fair, which I appreciate, since my socially awkward self wants to shop in peace, but that can be hard if you actually want to try something. I have found this location to be far better stocked than FF, however it's not as well stocked as larger Sephora's in the Bay Area that carry more brands and more of a brand line. I never really understood Sephora's return policy. Each store does things differently. I came into Sephora and had a bit of a hiccup while trying to return. In the end, everything worked out fine, and the staff were professional about it. I had a few items that I purchased and didn't use that I wanted to return. I didn't have a receipt, so the cashier looked up the purchase through my beauty insider. She pointed out that it was past the 30-day return window, so she could only give me store credit. (I thought it was a 60-day window, but I guess that changed?) To give me any form of credit, her manager had to ok it and he came up twice because the items were being credited separately. There were two items that felt light to the cashier. The manager looked the bottle and echoed what the cashier told me: that they would allow the return if it was 80% full. I explained that I didn't even use the product, so I didn't realize that the bottles were less than half full. Instead of giving me the side eye, the manager went to grab a few bottles of the same product off the shelf and explained that he was comparing them all to see what the average product amount was. I watched him open each bottle to look at the dip stick to compare where the product was on the stick. I thought that this was smart and professional of him. Instead of dismissing me and telling me no for the return, he used excellent problem solving techniques that wasn't offensive and I really appreciated that. He ended up crediting me. I could tell there was some hesitation because I saw the dip stick in the bottle I was returning and it did have less product than the other ones on the shelf. He kindly reminded me to make the return as soon as possible if something wasn't working out. Again, he was really nice about it and I felt like he valued my patronage, in spite of only returning on this occasion (no money spent). The experience was good and the manager and the clerk should both be recognized for excellent customer service. I didn't catch the female clerk's name but the male manager was Shawn (at least, think I heard him answer to that name). I will continue to support this Sephora. It's not perfect, and neither are any other Sephoras that I've been to, but all of my interactions have been more or less positive. read more

I've had a mixed experience at this Sephora. I usually come in for skincare and the sales associates were not that helpful. In that they didn't know much about any of the products and couldn't really help me find something without parabens. Just directed me towards the computer scanner to basically scan everything to find something without parabens myself. However, in the Beatty section they're super knowledgeable and helpful. I don't feel intimidated or as pressured as I do at Mac to purchase things. I was here on opening day. Being so new, the products were stocked and if not all, most of the testers were available. I didn't need anything, but wanted to browse and check out the new Hourglass Confession lipsticks. I purchased one Hourglass lipstick in One Time (perfect shade for the upcoming fall season) and a Quai hair oil. That day, the deal was that with any $25 purchase, a tote was "given." I literally had to tell the girl who rang up my order about the deal. Is this Sephora protocal??! I'm curious...are staff picking and choosing who should receive these deals? If so, this is ridiculous or Sephora needs to better train their employees. What I was happy to see was that staff at this store was diverse! Of course, not sure down the line if they'll keep some of the staff or if the company has high turnover rates, but you'd think that as diverse as Fresno is, they would hire females/males of different ethnicities!!!!!! I've been to this location a handful of times and I ALWAYS enjoy it, first off because everyone who works there is welcoming. Which is key, because I can buy this stuff anywhere but I enjoy looking at all of it in person before buying for the variety of makeup lovers in my family. The men and women who work here are fabulous. One time a young woman helped my tween discover a bright pink gloss she loves. This time though, a young woman there told me what I was looking for was sold-out in store as well as online. Maybe Sephora restocked the online store since she had last looked, I don't know. What I know is, I was looking for something else when Gabe asked if he could help and I told him what I had hoped to buy (the large, "Give Me Some Lip" collection). He looked to make sure there wasn't one anywhere in the store, checked with the other two stores, then ordered it online for me. Turns out it wasn't sold out. I didn't have to wait in line, I didn't have to drive around town. The package arrived two days later. Perfect. Thank you. I'm on the search for a good foundation that will last all day, I walked in after being told I can get samples. I was wary as I always feel like I'm annoying workers when I ask for samples. But nope! If I could give this place a negative score I would. My friend and I are loyal customers of Sephora where we spend hundreds of dollars on products and to be treated badly and followed around endlessly, as if we were going to steal, until they made it very uncomfortable for us that we decided to leave. We were testing the make up (swatching) and they asked us literally 40 times in all if we needed help after we said no. I don't recommend this store to anyone if you ever want to be treated with respect and not like a criminal. There was no reason for us to be followed around.
