Honestly I am not the type to complain or make reviews, but after this experience, I think I need to share. I walked in with a friend, and he had already asked me what color dipbrow I use, and I said well let us get inside so I can help you choose one. Once we get there we ask the guy with longer hair if he can helps us with a sample of one of them. He first replies with, "we actually don't have the jars to make them right now." And he had already made upset faces at us when we walked in, so I decided to say "I actually have a friend who works at a different location and used the perfume bottles too!" And he said it was fine. We go ask the other employee to fix us a sample, and says that they don't offer dipbrow samples or have the jars for it. Again I said, "we just spoke to him and he said we can get it in the perfume sample." She seemed upset making the sample and asked what color we had chosen for him, and when I mentioned medium brown, she whispered "that isn't even going to match." I was so upset at this Sephora because it isn't the first time weird situations with their horrible customer service and employees. Really disappointing especially because I live 5 minutes from one and have to drive 15 minutes to another one just to avoid bad service. Went today to buy some stuff at jcpenney and thought bout seeing what they had in sephora... almost EVERYTHING out of stock(empty shelves with little to no products except the samples) i walked in started browsing and two ladies there didnt even bother to acknowledge me or even ask if i needed help. Even when i gave them eye contact. One walked away the other just stayed around pretending she was working but clearly her snarky snooty face showed she didnt even want to be there. Don't waste your time. This location is even WORSE than the Plaza Bonita one. Incredibly low stock on practically everything, and the testers are either funky/gross, or missing from the displays altogether. This is why we can't have nice things. You're better off making the trip to the Eastlake/Otay location, or the Fashion Valley store - both of which are standalone stores and NOT located inside a JC Penney. read more

Came in looking to buy the biggest eyeshadow set they have. I ended up finding an eyeshadow set with city theme compacts and a 5 set of sampler perfumes for the same amount added up. i was helped left and right from Hannah. What a doll face her customer service is one of the best!!! She was very helpful and such an upbeat person.I would of gave 5 stars but i go home open my perumes and noticed about half of them are empty :( no bueno!! So just need to go return soon besides that the eyeshadow are great and the perfumes smell good just wish i had more quantity of them!! read more

Came in to buy some things and went to the cash register where the employees were talking no big deal she was still scanning items and what not. i had points and the girls at the cash register kept pressuring me into using them since i think they expire at the end of the year (not sure how true that is) and figured i would use them and decided to get a skin care thing worth about 500 points and i should have checked the box before leaving the store now that i think about it. they also would try to pressure me to buy something that i was only asking questions about and didnt want it but it made me uncomfortable the way they try to get me to buy it i did see another employee trying to find something else to do and move the boxes around that had the skin care items. So i get home and find that the only thing inside the box was tissue paper... absolutely ridiculous to say the least I called several times and it took 3 calls for someone to pick up the phone, granted i don't know if anyone was near the phone or avoiding the phone. I let the person on the other line know that there was tissue paper inside the box and nothing more so I was told that I could go back and get it fixed hadnt had the time but i will soon. Also when i went to go buy a fenty foundation with my sister this guy that wears makeup (nothing against it or anything just giving a description) he was trying to color match me and was a bit unprofessional by laughing and talking about theres no other full coverage foundation (goes to show his knowledge about make up..) i guess they needed to reach some sort of sales quota but that foundation was absolutely not my match i looked way too orange. i unfortunately need to go to that location again to get store credit for the terribly matched foundation. they should really reconsider his position in the company as i agree with the other review read more

Would give negative stars if I could. It is clear from my experience as well as the other reviews that whoever runs this sephora is useless. Every single experience here has been awful. They never acknowledge you, are always gossiping, and have zero customer service. Two most recent visits: I walk in and grab an eyebrow pencil walk to the register. Girl behind the counter doesnt acknowledge me for a good minute then finally says she can help me. She grabs the pencil rings up and as I'm paying starts putting returns into a basket. When I'm done she gives me my receipt and goes back to what she was doing. I look around and dont have my pencil, unsure if she gave it to me I look through my purse and bag, nothing. I'm looking and looking in this time to other workers are behind the counter, they see me and offer no assistance. Eventually I say " excuse me I never got my pencil I just bought" the one who checked me out says " I gave it to her" "no you didnt I dont have it" i say. She starts looking around and sure enough on top of her return basket is the exact pencil and color that I bought. Do they give it to me? Nope! They call security and tell them to check the camera. So now they accuse me of lying. I stand there for literally 10 mins before she says " here you go" and gives me my pencil. No sorry no nothing. Took everything in me not to say or do what I wanted to in that moment. Today I go in and grab $200 worth of product and head to the register and surprise suprise no one behind it. I look around and there is a girl behind me cleaning up. She sees me says nothing. I wait ..wait and eventually say "excuse me is someone on the register?" Her response "I just got in I'll be right w you" and she finishes her cleaning. I was so annoyed by her answer like wtf and tell her "well you can at least acknowledge me, say I'll be right w you, I dont know when you come in and what does that matter ?" This location is completely understaffed. Nobody offered to assist me. There were only two make up artist working and they were both helping customer. Nobody greeted the customer. I only stopped by to get more of my murad face wash, which was not available. The display/ shelves were emptied and not stocked at all. I left there without purchasing anything. I had the worst experience at this Sephora today on 6/19/2020 at approximately 2:44. I came in to purchase 1 thing that I needed. I went to the checkout and the lady that rung me up was the rudest person I have ever encountered in my life. She told me that if I spent $60 I would receive a makeup bag with various makeup items. I thought that was a good offer considering everything that's happening with corona virus. I later found out once I paid and was ready to leave that i would in fact not be receiving this gift and that it was actually for a raffle. She did not mention that it was for a raffle or I would've kindly declined spending over $70($75 was the grand total)for just an entry into the raffle. I asked her if I could take out an item because I did not need the extra items and she basically forced me to purchase the extra items. Im guessing she really wanted that commission because once I expressed I couldn't pay the extra $30 in cash (the rest was paid for in gift cards) she literally told me if I could "go get my mommy" to pay the remaining balance. I stared at her in disbelief that she said that because I am 21. She was very unmotivated to be helpful, lacked customer service, and basically was laughing at me for paying with my gift cards. I felt belittled and helpless in a place where I should feel welcomed, included, and happy. I will no longer be a Sephora customer after this disappointing encounter. Michelle has poor customer service skills. She talks back so much and wants the final word which escalates a customer. I had an experience with a return and i explained to her my challenge. She crossed her arms and dictated policy to me. I understand policy, i have no problem with employees following protocol. What could have ended with me leaving on good terms ended up an escalation bc she wouldn't stop talking and lecturing which obviously i won't accept. She contradicted herself, gave a bad attitude like her goal was to belittle me the customer. This store has gone downhill. Avoid this store and this drama that comes along with rude associates who don't appreciate what keeps them employed, customers. In need of a serum and not wanting to drive to an actual Sephora store, I thought I would just go to JcPenny. I was so disappointed and will never be returning. I think I'm better of either going to actual store or even going to Ulta. The store looked dirty, not stocked at all and no selection of products. There were no samples on display as they were all missing or destroyed and out of place. There was even about 3 empty shelves with lights exposed and a few boxes on there. First off I want to say I used to love this Sephora but it has completely gone downhill due to the lack of customer service. Don't come here if you want to get your color matched or anything that requires assistance from an employee. These workers like to just stand around, gossip, don't greet their customers, or want to help. I can literally walk in being the only customer and two workers are talking across the store but ignoring me. Main worker I don't care for is the only guy who works there, he's super unprofessional and acts so stuck up. If you want to feel unwelcome, get ugly stares, and not get help come here! (: I'll never understand why these employees think that they are so above customers, when their job doesn't even require a degree and they get paid minimum wage. Yup I said it! I would only shop at this location because it's closer to home. Unfortunately they never have any products available and their customer service skills blow! I saw some peach pallets with a lower price than what they usually go for. They were stacked nicely in a different section and when I asked, the girl snatched it out of my hand and said "no someone made a mistake." And tore off the sticker that they had put over the original price. I had also purchased a kabrow eyebrow pomade. When I got home I noticed it was the right shade # on the box, but it was shade 1 in the product itself. I took it back and let them know what happened. The young lady that "helped" me said "well we can't exchange it because it's the wrong color in the right package. You should've opened it first in the store." Ummmm yes, because everyone who is rushing off work to get to their store before they close has time to actually inspect each item. I just grabbed it, paid and left (eyebrow emergency!). I had to wait 20 minutes for her to call multiple people to see if I could get the correct shade. After speaking to a manager or whatever their position was, the woman apologized and gave me the correct shade. And for the last rant, I asked to be matched for the KVD foundation. The employee looked at my face and straight out said "oh you have a really yellow undertone so we won't have a match for you." She literally just walked away. read more

So an hour later I was at the store and I came across Robert who is amazingly friendly and helpful. He made was acknowledging every customer that was coming in and was already there. I've been in the cosmetic industry for 7+ years, having worked at a sephora freestanding store (not jcpenney) for 4 years. I walked up to a new display and picked up a new mascara to check out. I opened it to see the wand and an employee walks up to me and says 'I wouldn't try it on straight from the tube if I were you.' I wasn't going to try it on at all, and I know to use a disposable wand if I did choose to try it on. She proceeded to tell me that I need a wand, in a very condescending tone. I stopped by this jcp sephora on my way to work looking for my drunk elephant moisturizer. I picked up a foundation and while browsing decided against it. When I walked out an employee approached me and accused me of stealing. Mind you i am 5 ft tall. 100 pounds, in form fitting clothing and not even carrying a purse. I'm giving them two stars because my visit today wasn't as grossly disappointing as my previous visits. The service today was decent for only two people working. They actually knew of and located the moisturizer I asked for. I went in a month ago and asked for this moisturizer and was told "I don't know, can you look for it". They must not stock this Sephora often because the shelves are always bare and most make up is not in its proper place, making it hard for me to be self sufficient in finding what I want. I've came here multiple times and have always been greeted within the first couple minutes and the customer service has always been fantastic.
