I had a great time here, although my two friends would disagree with me as they don't like Korean food very much. However, my love for some delicious Korean cuisine significantly outweighs their hatred and so there is still a net positive effect. Also fuck what they think this is my review. (Just kidding Niki and Clay if you're reading this) Ambiance: At first glance, this is a tiny little restaurant but it looks very chic and trendy. Probably not the best place to go if you're in for a more sit-down restaurant though. Customer Service: Great! The food came out at a reasonable time, the waitress was very polite and courteous, and they even provide you with these little metal magnets that you can hang your purse on. 2012 wizardry - how far society has come! Food: I ordered the Beef Bibimbap and it was really some of the best Bibimbap I've had. Perfect flavours, perfectly cooked beef, I finished it at the speed of light and started pathetically scrounging around my bowl for the last pieces of rice to get the most out of it. --- The lunchtime prices are really great. My Bibimbap only set me back at 11 dollars for a decently large portion. Tasty, cheap, and great service! Ways to improve: ~ Their lunchtime menu is veryyy limited to the point where your decisions are mainly between bulgogi or bibimbap. If you don't like either, sucks. Sadly not the Korean feast I was hoping for. We arrived for our reservation at 8pm and were sat directly in front of the wide open door. After freezing for 10 minutes, huddled in our coats, we asked if we could move to a table further down the back that had been vacated. Maybe the waiter was desensitised to the Melbourne chill, but she looked at us blankly as if we had asked for a camel carrying a thousand purple cats. The food, surely, would make up for the lacklustre first impressions - yes? Sadly not. The best thing we had were the pan fried vegetable dumplings and the shitake mushroom skewers. The kimchi pancake was okay. The crispy chicken salad was straight from the 70s complete with strawberries and tinned peaches making it overly sweet. Fortunately the chicken itself was good. We finished these dishes and everything was whisked away and our bill brought three minutes later! We all looked at each other, then waiter and then at each other again... ermm, "we haven't finished yet". I then had to explain that we'd also ordered a beef bibimbap. Again with the blank stare. "Yes, we would like more food. Yes, the beef bibimbap". 10 minutes later a stone-pot bibimbap was put down in front of us (though not before the bill was brought again to us as if we were ready to leave!). Wow, what a disappointment. It looked great, with a fried egg on top, but at $16 the contents were a bit lacking, with only a tiny bit of meat and average rice. We left some in the bowl, finally paid the bill (third time's the charm!) and departed. Sadly, Seoul Soul has a fun modern interior but not the substance to warrant more than a two star rating from me. Located on Victoria st, abbostford. Lays this cute little restaurant! With a hipster entrance most will think it was a cafe! But behind the doors lays and outstanding layout of a Korean eatery! Set with three communal tables, each seating around three of four small groups! Set in the middle of the table a grill to hear food and a well designed exhaust fan covering the full length of each communal table! We entered here on Saturday for lunch, was greatest by a really friendly waiter and shown to our table! We looked at the menu and it all looked great! a cheap eat, very well priced. We order lunched, We the spicy chicken meal set, vegetarian bibimbap and kimchi pancake! The waiter was extra friendly and when we over ordered on food not being to sure on size of dishes, she notified us and explain the meals in detail, and this was amazing to see, as I've made this mistake many times before but to have someone explain the dishes was such great service. Th food arrived to our tables shortly after, it was great, the kimchi pancakes are always a hit because honestly who doesn't like kimchi pancakes. The lunch meals where tasty and very enjoyable, full with flavour, we both really enjoyed! I'm not rushing to go back here anytime soon, but for the price service and standard of food, if I were in the area again I would stop by, also would recommend others in the area to try! read more

After much hearing about this place we finally decided to go for dinner one day. Firstly we had a huge difficulty finding the place at one go, even being on the main street as its board is not very clear. The seating is quite small and bot very comfortable, more like for quick bites. Nonetheless we ordered the food, for which we came for. The food was good in raste but the portions were very small in comparison to the price. The grape drink was very good but again so small in size for the price. We left the place with not fully satisfied and full. I would personally not go back again, when I can get better portions in same price with good flavours elsewhere. read more

This is a lovely little Korean tapas-type resto on a strip of Victoria Street that's dominated by Vietnamese restaurants. There are five or six seats just outside the entrance that seem to give those patrons a good view of what's going on in the kitchen - we decided to sit inside. The restaurant itself is tiny so much of the seating is along the one bar running down the middle of the space. There are grills on the tables but they don't appear to be functional. We opted for pork and chicken dumplings as entrees, which were a bit disappointing. They were quite doughy, with a hard, bready exterior - not really a fan. Where I think Seoul Soul really shines is in its grilled meats. For mains (which we shared between three people), we had the lamb cutlet, beef bulgogi and the marinated butterfly grilled beef. Of the three, the lamb cutlet and the beef bulgogi were the true stand-outs. They were well seasoned and quite tender. Having the kimchi and radish as side dishes was a nice treat, although I'm used to having a wider variety of side dishes, at least from other Korean restaurants I've been to in the past. The prices are quite reasonable (around $12-15 per plate) but the portion sizes are a bit on the small side. You'll definitely want to order a side of rice per person or you might leave hungry. Overall, I really like this place and can't wait to go back. read more

After convincing the waitress that it is ok for my seeing eye dog to be inside the restaurant, I was seated to a cosy atmosphere and the smell of spices. Ordering the steamed pork dumplings for entree and the spiced bulgogi beef for main, I was not disappointed. The entree was tasty and although it arrive at the same time as my main, was accompanied by jars of kimchi and pickled veg. The beef was beyond tasty, with a compliment of Korean spices and accompanied by rice to smother the small amount of chilli the chef had added to his mixture. The mini 1/2 wine barrel my main was served in also housed a small salad, samosa and a fried vegetable patty. Great value for money. read more

The kind of place where you spend half your time checking out other peoples food because everything looks so good! I had the bulgogi noodle soup and my mate (in a frankly bizarre move) ordered chicken and cheese with vegies. I was sceptical but both turned out delicious. When this place first opened we were pretty excited about a new restaurant on Victoria St and have probably been back about 8 times. Love the kimchi soup, the spicy chicken bulgogi set, rib salad, tofu salad, beef bimbimbap, prawn dumplings, not a huge fan of the seafood pancake, and for the price in Richmond it's decent. Condiments provided are good too and you can ask for more kimchi and pickles etc no charge. The place is fairly small though so probably not great for a big group. Try and get a middle table it's more comfortable though you may be shoulder to shoulder with the next guy. Will be back as always. read more

Ten dollars for a bucket of lunch. The bulgogi meat held together and was better quality meat than at many lunch option places. The wee small $1 kimchi and pickle jars are a cute idea and the kimchi was fresh and tasty. This hole in the wall place is easy to miss. The 20 seater place was packed but the friendly waitress said, "three minute" and it was about that for us to get a table. The dumplings (mandu), shrimp and pork, were not good. They were deep fried and blah. The seafood pancake was fishy and we left it uneaten. But, the best was the hip ambiance and the solid lunch bucket. One of the big tables had been reserved for seven people and the staff were able to accommodate both corporate reservations, take out, and drop ins. read more

This is such a delicious place to eat at. Actually go to the one in Melbourne emporium but they don't have a Yelp page. Food is always delicious and staff are efficient, polite and easygoing. Not too expensive either - 13.80 for a meal. Personally I'd recommend the teokkbeokki and the fried chicken- just so good.... read more

Great little Korean restaurant in the heart of Victoria St Richmond. I haven't had a lot of Korean food so difficult to compare. But four of us all enjoyed our meals. Nice flavours, quick and friendly service, and didn't break the budget. What more can one ask for?! read more

This sleek looking miniature restaurant has a few big pluses going for it: 1. It's not Vietnamese! Yay for restaurant diversity on Victoria Street! 2. The food is delicious, arrives in generous serves and is very reasonably priced. 3. Up to the minute design makes the place very cool. Not so good elements are: 1. It's tiny, you will likely be on a share table and it will be relatively loud. Fine for couples or small groups, but not for 5 or more, I'd suggest. 2. You will probably be seated on a high stool, so it's not really suitable for small kids, very old or unbalanced, or heavily pregnant people. 3. They offer a range of Korean beers (yay!), but they don't give you any information about them, and the waitresses don't seem to have the time/knowledge/vocabulary to tell you about them - making beverage selection a bit 'pot luck'. Great I would call this restraunt fabulous cause let's face it it is with delicious rice the sauce open the chicken goes so well on everything else Even the egg is deliciously made and simple things like the choice of sauce makes every thing so good The only bad thing is the restraint is very small and if we're bigger the owners make a whole lot of cash Service isn't the best but a still good it's very convenient as it is small it is place so they work around to you quickly the food comes out quite fast if you just text a bit an blamo food on your table I would say this place is fabulous I would definitely recommend it read more
