I'm sorry to have to downgrade my review for this practice. My last appointment with the doctor…read morewas extremely puzzling. At a previous appointment he insisted that I stop a medication he felt was significantly contributing to my electrolyte imbalance. I asked if I could just stop or needed to taper off. He said to just stop. This bothered me. So I researched it & confirmed both that it could cause electrolyte problems & that you couldn't stop "cold turkey". I contacted my PCP, who gave me the proper instructions & lower dosage to taper off. When I went back for my followup visit I was excited to report that I had stopped taking the offending medicine & had worked really hard to limit my water intake. He would hardly let me talk. He acted like a completely different man, not seeming to want to listen to the fact that I had followed his instructions to stop the medication & to drink less water. I'm not sure he had even checked the bloodwork & other testing that he had ordered. He just waved the results of the urinalysis that had just done in his office at me. He said "There's nothing wrong with you. You just drink too much water,". He indicated that he was dismissing me & had once sent a patient to a psychiatrist for drinking too much water. Needless to say I was shocked at his behavior. I asked if he would send a report to my Cardiologist, who had referred me there for the continuing electrolyte imbalance. That must not have happened. At my next Cardiology appointment they thought the Nephrologist was still in charge of the monitoring. I don't know whether he was just having a bad day. But I do know that I'll never go back to that provider.

This photo makes him look gruff, he is the complete opposite and truly a teddy bear, a very, very nice person. Previously, I had an appointment with another Sentara Cardiologist who wiped me off the My Chart for an appt in Jan. 19th, 2026, he had something else to do per Nurse Rachett, then offered to reschedule me for end of May or June. I'd love to tell you his name but, his office conveyed a complete disregard for the patient. I waited for that appt since August 2025. After this experience my husband was quite upset. My inital problem was discovered during a colonoscopy, when I started to A-FIB, this was Mar 2025. Now I was scheduled with Dr. Grammes in Feb 2026 and he was willing to listen, answer my questions, and put me at ease about my procedure. Prompt for appt time, pleasant office staff as well as nursing staff. My procedure, hopefully will be scheduled soon but so far, he and his office staff deserve 5 stars. Will advise after procedure. I had an early appointment so the parking lot wasn't as packed as it can be at later times during the day. When i entered i was promptly greeted by 2 nice employees who were upbeat and friendly, and i was checked in. The process was quick and went smoothly. I saw a new Doctor today, Dr Banks and his P.A. . The P.A does most of the appointment and the doctor comes in with a plan of treatment afterwards. They were both very nice and thorough in their observations. They also did an EKG which took less than 5 minutes. The office was clean and the staff was polite. When i checked out there was no wait and the receptionist printed everything we spoke about after the visit and scheduled my followups. This visit went very smoothly and i like this location. If your looking for a Cardiologist, this location is a good pick. 4 stars!!!

There was a good amount of parking there as well. My visit here was on August 27, 2024. The reason for my visit to this location was for a pre-employment physical and drug screening for a new job with a local hospital system. These types of visits are by appointment. When I came in, I was greeted at the main desk. After checking in, I was asked to go to the next room over, which is where these pre-employment physicals would be. The longest part of this experience was waiting to be called back to even start the process. It took over an hour after my scheduled appointment time to get the process started. Once the process was started, it went pretty seamlessly after that. This physical included several tests such as weight, vision, urine sample, a full physical by a provider there and some blood draws. Part of that testing was to test for antibodies to several infectious diseases, which several days later I found out I had the needed immunity. Overall, the process is what I was expecting. The only reason for the lower rating is due to the long wait between getting started and the appointment time. I can understand there can be some delay, but over an hour is a bit excessive. This may have been because they were busy, but that tells me they may not have been adequately staffed that day. Overall, if you need a physical or other care, this place is still good. You may want to prepare for a longer wait than you may expect depending on how busy that area of the practice is. They were still able to get the job done, which is the most important part.

Sure wish they had an "EARLY CHECKIN" like some others. Would save a lot of time…read more Other then that I've been coming to this NOW CARE for many years and have never had a bad experience.

I've been going to this location for many years, and the service used to be excellent. However,…read moresince mid-2023, it has significantly declined--from the nurses to the nurse practitioners to the doctors. They now recommend too many unnecessary tests and biopsies that cost thousands of dollars and go straight to the deductible. This has left me feeling frustrated, untrusting, and disappointed. I no longer have a reliable OB-GYN I can turn to, someone who knows my history and offers thoughtful care before jumping to procedures. Being in my mid-60s, I know I need good care, but sadly, I won't find it at this practice. To make matters worse, most women's health practices in Tidewater have merged into one physician group. Their approach seems clear: more tests, more procedures, and less personalized care. Trust your gut feeling - take care and be aware of what I shared.

They don't care to tailor the procedures for each patient and don't ask enough questions about what your needs are for the visit. No private area with no door is where they ask " how many sexual partners do you have". Unreal. I should have got up and demanded a room with a door for this intake. Who designed this office? Providers aren't horrible but the staff is under educated and cannot discuss basic questions without help. Do not recommend.
