After a lot of research, I saw Trachten Rausch come up multiple times. I walked to the store and was immediately greeted by a young saleswoman who figured out my size quickly and whisked me away to a small changing room. She brought a few options, helped me in and out of them and we settled on two final options - both reasonably priced (do not expect to spend less than 150 euro on anything quality). I chose the one I wanted and was rung up and out the door. Both sales women I spoke with spoke excellent English and didn't make me feel bad about my very poor German speaking skills. This was an excellent experience - the dirndls are beautiful and I'm excited to wear mine!

Trust me when I say women get good service here and English speaking men are out of luck. The service is rushed and pressured. The male employee was pushy and didn't even know how to size me. I shopped multiple stores in Munich and found Angermaier near Marienplatz to be amazing. The selection for both men and women was fantastic. The employees are friendly and educated. The prices are not low end but they have mid and upper level stuff. I don't write reviews to punish a business, but I know there are people like me who want the full Oktoberfest experience and buying traditional clothes in a foreign country is confusing. My experience was bad here and world class somewhere else.

Shopping here is very much a treasure hunt to find good deals so you will need to be patient. That said, I didn't really like the product selection nor did I like the pricing. Felt like I could get better deals back in the US. If you have the time to search and can deal with crowds, you may come up with something here but I would rather sightsee or eat and drink than spend time looking for an elusive find.

Sort of like most cheap second hand shops you have to dig, but they've done a lot of that for you, so leave the shovel at home and just bring a bit of patience. As far as selection, it can be a hit and miss, but I almost always walk out of there buying something great to add to my wardrobe, without having to think about how much I've spent. The old ladies who work there are classy, elderly, and dear to my heart. There are a couple more of these stores in Munich... don't be fooled, this one's the best.

Fresh flowers, meats, cheeses, baked goods and fresh baked breads, and of course beer and wine bars. There's something here for everyone and it's always fun checking out all the different booths. I walked over every morning for fresh Cappuccino at Leo's Kaffee and would pick up a pastry at one of the bakeries. In the afternoon, I would stop by the pickle guy and buy a few of the best pickles I've ever eaten. So many choices from sweet to sour, spicy and my favorite a super sour with a spicy horseradish. The long line moves quickly and if you like pickles, you must stop here.

One shop in particular really caught my attention--it specialized in mustard (Senf) and offered so many varieties I had never seen or even heard of before. I was excited to try everything. Prices ranged from €2 to €7 per bottle, and while I was tempted to buy several, my luggage limitations held me back. In the end, I chose two: black truffle mustard and matcha mustard. Can't wait to try them once I'm back home.

I was surprised by some of the nicer items they carried. For example, they carried nicer quality souvenir magnets for one Euro... the exact ones sold for 5 Euros in other souvenir stores! If you have little patience, this is not the store for you. It is small with lots of customers and only one cashier. I still had fun checking it out, though!

The prices are ok and the selection of things for people who like doing things on their own like tailoring, mending, knitting, house decorating and a variety of other items can find raw material and odds and sods here. Of course they also have a lot of fashion and accessories as well. Their food hall is quite big and you can buy a variety of food and wine items here. I shop at this place a lot specially for small things that are much harder to find elsewhere.

Many other items for sale were in average condition with obvious flaws, prices for a good quality bag in good condition would start from 100 Euros. Lego kits would cost more then on auction sites (I bought one for my children and it was 40 Euros online while similar kits were prices from 65 to 80 at the market). I am sure there were bargains but I was not lucky enough to find them. Overall I did expect much more from a market of this size, I have visited other markets, 10 times smaller and surely cheaper with better choice.

Yes folks Bavaria is wonderful but you have to do your shopping before 8pm monday to a saturday - so finding this heaven at the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) has saved many a life, relationship, date and party. It might in some areas be a little pricier, less choice but meets most basic and emergency needs - hence the 5* rating. Got an excellent cold room full of beer. Spirits are behind the cash desks. Queues can be long especially weekends - Sunday evening when everyone is arriving or coming back home is a chore. But thank you for small inconveniences.
