Preis-Leistung schlecht.

This place is a restaurant in an old building with 2 large extensions in the back to host weddings…read more The problem is that on weekends without weddings, they fill these rooms with tables to maximise income, but do not worry that the kitchen can not follow. We arrived 3 minutes after opening, and after waiting 1 hour and half to get our orders, we've been finally told that our dishes would take 20 minutes longer to be ready... Of course, we decided to leave, paid our drinks and were "escorted" very aggressively by a waitress and the manager... Will never come back. Edit: Seriously, question to the Germans: Is it normal to have to wait 1h45 for your food on a sunday lunch? Or does that happen , "by chance", only to the table of foreigners at the back of the room... I can't believe the reviews considering how disrespectfully we were treated...

This is a wonderful little restaurant/bar right near the lake in Bad Meinberg. We had visited…read moreanother restaurant for some "real German" food (Treffpunkt), but found that the size and intensity of their meals was not something we could do every day. Then our pension hostess recommended Kajute and it was perfect. We took notice of only the simplest part of the menu, but it was excellent. Apart from the obvious -- sausages in various combinations -- a really good bet there is the "Eintopf," a huge bowl of soup that contains pretty much everything; it's not a stew but a real soup; delicious and satisfying. A half liter of Detmolder Landbier tops off any good meal, and they have it on tap. The gentleman who might be the proprietor has enough good English to serve you.
Definitely one of the better (if not the best) authentic German food establishments in the Hameln…read morearea. Prices are reasonable, beer is cold, food is extremely tasty and plentiful. Their pork recipes (think "Sauerbraten" - pork loin, fillets "schnitzel" and/or chops smothered in various sauces with fries (chips) "frites"/baked/mashed potatoes are perfectly made as if you'd hired somebody's German granny to cook you up a feast. If you don't like pork, they offer many other authentic meat dishes as well (e.g., steak, chicken, etc.). Seems to attract a wide variety of patrons - all friendly, mostly locals or overnight visitors. If you find yourself in the "Pied Piper" town of Hameln, take the 20 minute stroll across the bridge to give this place a try. It's well worth it. Hint: Out of curiosity, I ordered two entrees, ate both and could barely walk home. DO NOT order more than one main course unless you want to be rolled home afterwards. The portions are ginormous.
