After an extensive search to buy a new dining room set, I chose Deutsch Furniture Gallery, in…read moreRochester, Minnesota. But before I placed the order, I paid for wood samples and picked out two different stains colors to decide on: Seashell and Limed. I had to be certain that the stains offered on their website, would match the samples I received. Plus, I returned the samples back to the company, as the wood samples must be returned. I chose the stain, "Seashell", and I took photos of the wood samples before sending them back to Deutsch Furniture Gallery. I ordered a 48" round single pedestal table and four dining room chairs, and 2 with arms, in Hard Maple and ALL with Seashell stain. The purchase (sales) order shows the above with Seashell stain. The sales staff answering the phones were always most helpful. My order placed on July 2, and it would be between 8- 10 weeks before delivery. I felt confident that my furniture would be made to my specifications and felt free to concentrate on our home projects, which is STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS. Days before the dining room set arrived (Tuesday, September 24, 2024), our new floor was installed in the dining room and kitchen. We moved our old refrigerator out to the garage, as the new one we ordered would be arriving on Thursday, September 26. Boxes were moved out to the garage to get ready for the dining set delivery. It arrived on Tuesday, September 24, and that's when I commented to the delivery staff that the finishers were fairly sloppy with the stain. In addition, one of the arm chairs had a rear damaged leg and had to be returned for repair. I accepted everything but that one chair. I called Deutsch Furniture Gallery regarding the damaged chair, plus I took photos to send to the company. I was assured by phone and email that the repair would be corrected and the chair delivered back to me as soon as possible. I put the damaged chair out of my thoughts and my husband and I stayed occupied with our home projects. Thursday morning, September 26 - the day the new refrigerator would arrive, I was looking at the sloppy stain work on our new table legs when it dawned on me, something was wrong. The delivery slip states the stain used on the furniture as Seashell. I examined the photos I took of the wood samples and realized. . . the FINISHERS HAD STAINED THE ENTIRE SET IN LIMED AND NOT SEASHELL! I was upset and sent an immediate email to the company. And I figured I was screwed because I signed for the delivery with the exception or the damaged dining room, arm chair. They replied, Sept. 27th, they would be in touch with the Finishers and get back to me although it might be as early as the following week. This was a portion of their final email, on Monday, September 30th: ". . . After sending the damaged chair back to the finishers, the finishers confirmed that the set was finished in the exact stain that I chose, Seashell. They also said that the "Limed Stain" would be much whiter like a whitewash in color. They are 100% confident that the Seashell color is what they stained it in. And that they will be repairing the chair and have it back to you as soon as possible." This is a portion of my email reply to them: ". . . Your reply, that the Finishers confirmed and were 100% confident that the set was finished in the exact stain that I chose, "Seashell", and that the Limed stain would be much whiter like a whitewash in color, is nothing more than a bogus claim of nonsense, and a pitiful attempt at a lame cover-up I've ever heard. Because if there was any truth to your reply, then it must negate the stain colors of the 3 wood samples I was sent. Correct? Or is it that the color-stain charts or possible physical wood samples that the Finishers use as guides or comparison, are completely different then the stain choices offered up on your website? This must be the case. And your customers WILL NOT RECEIVE the stain color they think they are purchasing? The photographs I sent to you on Thursday, Sept. 26, demonstrate that the dining set I received matched up perfectly to the real wood sample of "Limed", and not to the "Seashell" brown-based stain, at all, as they are two distinct colors. And Seashell is NOT in the family of whites and grays, like Limed. Sadly, I thought your company was honorable, and would make good on a major screw up from the Finishers. The reality is, that Deutsch Furniture Gallery refuses to incur the cost to redo my dining set to the Seashell stain, and which should have been done correctly from the beginning. Considering I physically held, and took photos of the actual wood-stain samples, your Monday, Sept. 30th email, is nothing more than an attempt at gas lighting. Shame on you! . . . . " Bottom line: I am stuck with a dining room set finished in a sloppy-limed stain. There was a major screw up at this company. Buyer beware of the Deutsch Furniture Gallery! Obviously, I wrote this review after I received the repaired dining room chair.

Service by phone and chat was very good and delivered a month earlier then expected; because of a the COVID associated delays. I highly recommend them for great US craftsmanship.
