Our 6 year old is now 11 and she loves! My middle daughter still always wants to go in and say hi even though she decided karate was not for her. The Instructors understand that there is not one style to teach and take the time to learn about your child and how they learn. I have been enrolled in the adult classes for 5 years. Not only is it a great way to get some exercise and training. I starting thinking I'd take it for fun and have discovered that I love the styles and programs they provide. Steiner Academy of Martial Arts is not just a school but a family. We could not be happier with our experience.

We tried for months to…read moreresolve an issue we were having with a behavior child there that would not stop harassinh and chasing my grandaughter. It got the point she could no longer focus in any of her classes. We tried to set up alternate days with the kids mother but Master Hall wouldnt allow it. Rather than bringing us in to discuss this issue he threw a post of facebook to let everyone know he doesnt discipline children, they figure it out on there own by the time they reach black belt, which means every other child in the class has to endure it. Ultimately we were forced to leave the school so i messaged him about a refund on all the money we just handed him. I included his response in this review. He tried to tell us we owed him alot of money for private lessons. Private lessons have to be paid in advance, last week when I checked they told me I still had 12 left. We had just joined black belt club and she only completed a few month of judo, she still had about 5 months of taekwondo. We paid everything in advance cause I knew she would put everything in to this, I had no idea we were going to get swindled out of all our money. My grandaughter was up in tears over this, she put every bit of her heart and soul in these classes to just find out that we were just robbed of everything. There is no aquisations and no slander in this review. Read his post and read the response that he sent us. He is threatening that if we ever talk about his school or him he will file a restraining order. As well we are not allowed to speak to any students or staff or he will also file a restraining order. My grandaughter was crushed again when she found out she will never see her friends again. This guy is out of control, he stole our money, he ripped everything out from under my grandaughters future. He is not a respectable man, he has no integrity only cares about the money. If you still chose to enroll your child, please stay and watch how it is handled. If you give them any money I would not pay for more than a week at a time. From what he sent me, he goes to court for this all the time. Its how he keeps the doors open. Even with the threat of a restraining order, he also went on about how he use to be a cop and if I said anything about this I would not like the rebutals he will give me. I know he was hoping to scare me away, he's probably done this to multiple parents. I will probably face a lot of retaliation but this is the right thing to do. People need to know the truth about what happened and how he threatens people to keep their money. I included his post and threatenimg message in the pics

This is a great place to learn Karate for children or adults of all backgrounds and sizes…read more The Environment: The school itself feels very comfortable. It is a cozy place with lots of small touches that make it feel personal instead of commercial. Since the classes are limited to 10 students at a time, there is always enough room to safely and comfortably practice. The school has a large focus on technique over athleticism and stature, which is probably why there is such a range of different people that can attend the school and benefit from the teachings. This is not the type of school where you will be asked to run intense drills or be yelled at for mistakes. The teaching is relaxed, you can ask questions and learn at your own pace. Different skill levels often practice in the same class so you have the added benefit of learning from your higher-ranking peers. The Teacher: Prof. Geary is the founder of this school and a 10th degree black belt with impressive credentials. He is the youngest 10th degree blackbelt in America, second youngest in the world, and proof of his credentials is readily available online and displayed in the school which is a true testament to the legitimacy of the school. Professor Geary teaches all the classes himself, so you can feel confident knowing you are receiving quality instruction straight from the source, rather than second-hand. His general demeanor shows that he cares way more about teaching good karate to his students than how to spend marketing dollars, which I really appreciate. Inclusivity: People of various shapes, sizes, colors and ages on a large range go to the school. There are children and seniors, many people from different background and many people who you wouldn't immediately think of as athletic. They are all welcome and show respect to each other at the school. Overall I would highly recommend studying Kempo Karate here.
