In 1996, Dan Carrell, having withdrawn from the partnership of the international law firm of Hunton & Williams, formed with a former colleague a small suburban firm at what is now the location of the Richmond office of Carrell Blanton Ferris. Over the years the firm grew modestly and changed both its name and form. Then, in July 2009, Dan reformed the Firm with Jim Garrett and Jim Van Horn under the name Carrell Rice Garrett & Van Horn, P.C. Eldridge Blanton joined them the following year, when the Firm became Carrell Blanton Garrett and Van Horn, PLC. In September 2011 the Firm combined with Ferris & Associates, PC, a highly respected esteemed Williamsburg law firm focused on estate planning and administration. The Ferris firm had been founded in 1993 by Dick Ferris. In August 2013, the name of the expanded Firm was changed to its present form - Carrell Blanton Ferris & Associates, PLC. The Firm has experienced steady growth since the 2011 acquisition. It opened its Fredericksburg office in 2011 and its Virginia Beach office in 2012. Despite its growth, throughout its history the Firm has prided itself on its professionalism - rendering excellent legal services to clients, for reasonable fees, while maintaining an inviting camaraderie across the entire Firm - among both the lawyers and those in support of their legal practice.

I was hoping to obtain a pro bono half hour on Zoom with Mr. Anderson, as his website states https://andersonlegalgroup.com/free-consultation/ and I am nearly 3,000 miles away from his practice 3. After finally calling the law firm yesterday after those two weeks and speaking to a paralegal, I discovered in a subsequent email, the intent was to make it "free" after paying $250, then applying that to the fee for creating the requested Deed, which arrangement should have been divulged by the aforementioned paralegal All this, after waiting two weeks for an answer. Not pleased with this bait-and-switch! How is it allowed to tie a "free" consultation with an actual assignment? After politely expressing my disappointment and wasted time in yet another message, was abruptly informed by Mr. Anderson that he would decline his services. Never had the chance to speak to this gentleman. Asked for a referral and received an 800-number instead.

She told me $1050. I paid her immediately in full. It took months for me to get a court date and anytime i called to speak to her i was rushed off the phone. She would talk down to me and make me regret calling her when thats her job and what i paid for was for her to help me in my situation. I was incarcerated for a seperate issue. During my incarceration i wrote her and she NEVER even replied. Then she took it upon herself to rescind the case without ever speaking to me. She took my money and NEVER represented me in court. Then upon my release had no explaination of why she felt she deserved or earned my payment. I would advise that nobody retain her if you really want someone who cares.
